Greatswords models in GW2
Well, if you read about Zweihanders, you can see they weren’t used to swing like we do in GW2. That’s what I meant in my comment about them in first post. Animations and their speed look ridiculous with anything bigger than Ebonblade imho.
And I see some ppl mixing historical weapons here: sure, I like them too, but in this case I have problems only with size. Perfect GS for me would be 2h version of Infinite Light, or something like Ebonblade, but with more effects (runes on blade or sth) and simply more expensive for some showoff :p

That is by the way one of the best GS models in the game. Skin is not that good looking, but the model is. Perfect size and proportions.
I also wish they would have smaller (shorter and thinner) great swords.
Everything about them is huge, either the blade is well too wide, or the hand guard is massive. Not all two handed swords are massive. As a personal preference I would like to see a sword like Aragorn uses (from LOTR), not so much a great sword, but still two handed. (Even some of their GS don’t look like great swords lol).
There are other ways to make the swords look ‘fancy’, they don’t need to be wide to show off detail, to me that just seems like a cop-out.
The armor, weapons and to some extent the flamboyant skills, are Anime driven.
If that were the case, wouldn’t our characters be screaming out the names of every skill? o.O
Please don’t give them any ideas. I can see it now, we wear red robes and yell “backlash wave” (inuyasha). My reply meant to say the armor and weapon styles seem to be influenced by Anime. Over sized swords etc. Seems all mmos do this. Really breaks western immersion though.
It always seemed to me that the bulkiness of GW2 ’s armour and weapons were either more inspired by Warcraft, what with their remarkably Saturday Morning cartoonish aesthetic and all, or someone was allowed near Space Marines (British creation) for far too long.
Japan and Korea aren’t the only countries guilty of having media creators that allowed the “bigger = better” mentality get the better of them.
The thought occurs, the weapons and armor are designed to fit the largest characters then sized via the software based on character height etc. Ever notice temple armor (medium) makes humans look like Paddington bear and the Norns look fine in it? I guess it’s easier then making a few sets of each.
