The manifesto stated that instead of competing with other players for kills, you’d both get the full reward, to promote teamwork.

On my server however, guilds seem to adhere a policy of “don’t tell the other guild where the bounty is so they won’t steal our kill”. That way, when they spend an hour seeking out bounties, they at least won’t have to suffer another guild stealing their target.

If nothing else, this should be the reason to change the bounties.

It does sound problematic. I wouldn’t know since I never had an opportunity to join in but if it’s possible for guilds to sabotage each other, that could be issues.

It gets worse. Players from other guilds hang around the boss, but don’t attack it. This makes the boss stronger (because there are more players) and thus will take the guild that is fighting it longer to take the boss down. If they succeed at all.

All to give their own guild a bit of extra time to easily find the boss should they get the corresponding bounty.

Bounties aren’t fun at all. At least not how they are implemented atm. Plus, who the hell came up with the idea to make a bounty npc in a freaking barrel? And if that’s not enough, they decided to put false barrels all over the map….

there are maps all over that show the bounties path. follow them counter clockwise and profit. you can’t hide the npc off the path.

Its not the path that is the issue, its the bad mechanics that multiple guilds can grief each other to compete, i can’t believe Anet totally overlooked how hard this can be with people actively working against you..

again if you walk the path counter clockwise they can’t do this. rule of thumb never pop your bounties unless you have found most of the npc’s and problem solved.

or if you go into a zone and you have already popped your bounty mention that you have an active bounty for them and 90% of the time they will tell you where they are.

Or maybe the people on my server aren’t quite that immature for the most part. Who knows.

The manifesto stated …

You’re missing one vital point imo, the game they were talking about it’s not the game you’re actually playing
Accept it and this will solve a lot of your doubts and ease your pain xD

Following this advice should make you a wee bit happier, at least it did for me.

Isn’t this the point of bounty? The first find the bounty receives the reward. It promotes competition between guilds.

You could always ask non guild players in the map, if they seen a bounty. And reward them in game with some gold once it is killed.

This is true. However, in maps like Lornar’s Pass, this little trick can easily cost the seeking guild 1-2 extra minutes. And for smaller guilds, that’s not always luxury time. My guild for example, needs every second they can get.

It may be the point yes. But I find that strange seeing as in every other instance, ArenaNet wants to promote teamplay.

Also, that doesn’t adress my second point…people joining the bounty event without fighting only to make it last longer, in case their guild may need that boss in the next 7 minutes.

You could always ask non guild players in the map, if they seen a bounty. And reward them in game with some gold once it is killed.

There are still helpful players, true. But I’ve recently seen this type of behavior from the large guilds on my server. Small guilds have it tough enough without big guild deliberately sabotaging them.

I find this “find the bounty before you start the bounty” meta-strategy kind of dumb. It’s all Minority Report, and I honestly don’t like that…

It’s not competition because if another guild starts it, and your guild gets a couple of hits in you BOTH get credit for it. This was tested a couple of days ago when TV and WoD on Tarnished Coast both had The Prisoner in Iron Marches and both got credit for the kill. We also helped each other find him.

In fact, I’ve found far more guilds cooperating than giving wrong locations.

Hmm that’s odd. Over on Sanctum of Rall, it’s been very cooperative. Just the other day we had some members of CDS help us kill Tarban, and then me and my co-leader helped them find Tarban all over again. People tag up with commander tags all the time to denote the locations of the bounties and people normally help in map chat (save Fireheart Rise, because we all know why people are over there :P)

Seems like it just might be specific people on your server.

Did tier 3 bounty yesterday and another guild was running around finding the mobs aswell so we asked em to do it together since it would be easiest but was told “He would rather puke himself then do it together” so whatever we activated it and got em all down.

Anyway the problem i have with bounty is the whole find the bounty before actually having the bounty making us a bunch of creepy stalkers. Like a paparazzi waiting for the shoot.

That would be true, if the guilds didn’t scout out the bosses before they start the bounty. If their scouts lose the boss, they’ll have to look for it again. Therefore, it’s not in their best intrest to tell others where it is. Nor is it to help them defeat it more quickly. If their guild is gonna activate the bounty in a few minutes, they’d be better off not participating so there’s a better chance the fight is still going when their guild does activate the bounty.

What I’m pointing out here, is that what may look good on paper doesn’t work that way in practice. At least, not with some guilds on my server.
