So with the new changes to rewards in the story, you now have to grind the two other armor pieces. They cost 1k Bandit Crests EACH. So to get both the gloves and shoulders you need 4k. Then imagine the full set of legs, chest, helmet, gloves, shoulders and boots.

6×2 is 12. So you need a total of 12k Bandit Crest for the full set of luminiscent armor and to get all three sets. Do you expect the zone to be full of people in 6 months? I feel bad for the ones who are trying to farm the armor.

TLDR:

Yes, many people are unhappy with the amount of grind required for acquiring all pieces (approximately 6 days of 8-hour grinding according to my calculations).

No, the megaserver system will always have at least one map running with enough people to get the crests.

I don’t think they changed the way you can get the shoulders. So for now, its 2K crest, which is not that bad. I played maybe 5-6 hours in silverwaste until now and I got 1.5k crest. And it was fun to play there.

We don’t know, what will cost the other pieces of armor. 2k crest, I have fun getting that. 4k crest, I start to feel the farm. 6k crest? I think i’ll stop going after the armor.

You can no longer get the shoulders gloves by replaying the story with alts, see here.

That’s stupid. Now I’m super glad I got my 3 shoulders before that change lol.

Ehhr… My bad, you cannot get the gloves the same way as the shoulders – by replaying the story. AFAIK you can still get the shoulders.

Does it matter if the map is not full six months from now? You get crests from doing events, not just beating the Breach, so whether there be fifty of five people on the map you’ll still be able to get the same amount of crests per hour (provided you actually defend a fort with the rest of the group and not try to solo it).

Even getting the Modrem parts doesn’t require you to beat the champion, you just need to have credit for hitting it and have the extraction buff up when the Breach ends to get the extracted part bag.

I’ve got all available armors so far (that’s 3 weights of both the shoulders and the gloves in both carapace and luminenscent – all 12 pieces) and there is no horrific grind.

In fact, I have 2 extra shoulder boxes since they pretty much drop like rain in the new underground labyrinth and I have another 3k bandit crests I don’t know what to do with since you also get those in most ridiculous amounts. In total I only spent 1k crests for a pair of gloves since I was impatient to get it done

I can tell you haven’t even tried to play through this content and are just parroting what you heard some other scamp say because there is no grind to speak of here. I’ve only played the new zone maybe 7 or 8 hours since the patch launched Tuesday – if you think this is grind you need to try any other MMO on the market.

They don’t drop for everyone “like rain”. You were just lucky.

So, you were both lucky with the drops (and i mean really lucky – in my whole guild we had only one carapace chest drop so far), and were farming the crests 2h/daily on average (if those 7-8 hours include tuesday and friday – and friday is not finished yet. so, most likely at least 3h/daily). Now, put yourself in a position of someone trying for 10k (gloves, helmet, boots, legs, chest) while not being so lucky and not actually liking this grind. Such a person will end up hating this zone. I know that i am already starting to.

Actions, not words.

In the 7 or 8 hours I played the zone I got 3 extra boxes altogether – 2 shoulders and 1 gloves. But let’s say I was just ridiculously lucky, that the 6 gods have blessed me for my good looks or I was born with a lucky horseshoe up my …er round my neck. Even if I didn’t get those drops and had to use the crests to buy the 2 extra glove boxes, it would still leave me with over 2k crests I don’t know what to do with.

No, hate is playing WoW for 6 months waiting for a trinket drop, grinding the same raid on as many difficulties as you can, over and over and over, week in and week out, because you need that trinket to play the next content. Then one day finally it does drop but some ninja looter swipes it and shards it in front of you. That sir, is a grind.

This is nothing.

Are you serious? Crests are so easy to come by. Do you actually do the events in sw?

I was farming the crest at 5am eastern when we can only hold 1 keep. I don’t think you even need to kill the boss to extract his parts. So I dont’ think you need to worry about that.

Wow… only reason I was considering to replay the living story sooner rather than later was the non-grind way of getting the armor skins. This is kinda bumming me out because I thought, for once, they did it right to have the armor skin as a reward for LS. There’s plenty of grind armor skins (every single dungeon skin/ascended skin) out there already, I didn’t care about the luminescent because they were grind. Why’d they make the non-luminescent ones a grind too?

Crest farming is a grind when they had a viable alternative to get them- repeating LS chapter which could be done a year from now like I was rereading one of my favorite books. It’s why I haven’t really gotten story achievements either, I just finished that book/watched that movie, why would I want to rewind it and watch it all over again? I stopped doing that when I was four years old.

I may still replay them after a while for kicks, but it would have been nice to get the skins too.
