OK, so I think its clear I have a few issues with some things in the game as of late (some aspects of the NPE and Traits >:( yeah, those), but be that as it may I think I just wanted to give a quick thank you for the things that i think were just right on this update:

Skill balances:
Really liking A LOT of the skill changes/balances this go through. Seriously. The ranger ones were long over do. Please do not touch them. Please. The Mez scepter, although fun can be a teensy bit OP, but I’m sure that will be easier to balance.

Map Changes:
Some waypoint and heart person re-locations. Seems like a small thing, but they feel better where they are, except for the bunny thing in Wayfarers. That feels wrong.

TP is taking some getting used to, and I was fairly indifferent about it before, but I can see how its new layout can be more user friendly.

Crafting:
Yeah, I like the recipe navigation A LOT.

Combat Reporting:
The ability to track that info on such a specific level has been great for me recently when testing builds and I love it. Probably my favorite thing about this update thus far to be honest.

New Level Up icon and Info:
I actually like this a lot. It was long over-do and with a few tweaks i think will be a great tool for first time players.

Mate, its good that you and Ipan (maybe some others I haven’t seen post) have been able to take a breath and share this. There’s some rough crap with this update but its all not in a heap.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

No, it certainly isn’t and i do want the devs to know that this update is actually pretty fun for the most part. For any gripes I have with the trait system as it stands i know from a dev standpoint that it will be much harder to fix coding wise. This update has more things that are more easily addressed (I feel) and if they don’t wait 5 months to address them then its all good. These other things in this update though have been awesome and my level 80s are loving the kitten out of them.

Positivity on the forums? Madness. I shall join in the crazy.

Traits are slowly getting pushed to more appropriate tasks. Slowly. But the little steps give me hope, and the “we’re listening now, how can we fix this?” on the Trait forum even moreso.

Ranger signet and Beastmaster changes. Yes. It loosened up my beast master build, but I might just keep Predator’s Onslaught~
I about lost my kitten when I saw Torment on Mesmer scepter. I’ve got two builds that deal in disposable minions (one for popping confusion, one for death/overspawning), so I’m working more on using Torment while enemies are distracted and chasing the wrong me.

Trading Post is mostly a plus. A few too many clicks here and there, and it’s missing anticipated profit, but buying got significantly easier. A few larger buttons and a Sell Maximum default/button would do wonders.

Crafting evolved. ‘nuff said. I haven’t seen any other MMO have it so good.

Conceptually, the level-up tooltips are grand, and the rewards can really help a new player/alt get geared without agonizing about it. I worry that the unlocks come too slowly to get a character prepared by level 30, when dungeons open up. Best to withhold judgment until they get some known bug fixes out in the next week or two.
(Devs, my heart goes out to you for a long work weekend that’s probably wrecking your plans.)

Well, it’s like trying to say something nice about the gold accents on the new fine china when there’s a dead skunk on the table, but yeah, I guess it’s not all bad.

The table is a fable.

Killing Teq for a spoon?

LOL but doesn’t that sound awesome? I’ve never tried to do new Teq but even thinking back to old Teq this would be funny.

Wahoo! We killed a dragon for a spoon! lol

Apparently, if you get 40 yards away from the skunk, you can appreciate the china again. =P

Its funny, but even have a level 80 of every class and at least one of every race almost all fully set up with exotics, I think I’ve done 6 or maybe 7 dungeons, and have only ever repeated 3 of them more than once. (I’m not a big dungeon or fractals person), but the fun part is I can decide to do that content or PvP later if i so choose. I worry that those things will feel like they have a larger barrier to entry for new players.

Its funny people complained about not being able to die in start of the game LOL and that was from before the patch :P people complain about leveling was too slow and turns out its was FASTER! Lol some people watch a youtube video and take all their information from that instead of actually playing the game and testing the features themselves. Not saying everyone does but when you read through the forums you can definitely tell who has a valid complaint and who is just grieving.

P.S To stay on topic I think most features of the patch where good add-ons but at the same time my only complaint is how far they took the skill locking. Imo by the 1st dungeon you should have all your skills unlocked.

Zoso, I agree, I think gating the utils at most until level 25 with the elite still at 30 is better. This way you have time to get used to those skills before potentially doing AC. My only worry is AC unlocking before you know why you’d be going there story wise due to PS gating.

They must have talked about this in meetings. Contrary to forum belief, these guys and girls aren’t stupid so I’m wondering what’s coming up. What is in the “background”? I don’t need to know right now and I don’t go for conspiracy theories but it seems odd.

You be surprised what can fall through the cracks detail wise when trying to big picture things for a game. I think there were a lot of big picture changes envisioned for the game which lead to some unintended consequences, which in turn has let to the kitten storm on the boards and in map chat.

I’m sure they will look it all over again though once players have vented and reported various things.

Makes me remember an article where they spoke to the people over at Valve about Portal and how all the devs had a big laugh over the loop that goes rolling by at the end. The all thought that was going to turn into the next big internet joke/meme, etc and after the game released everyone focused in on “the cake is a lie” which was some random throw away the devs had more or less forgotten about. Basically what devs think when making the game and what the players take away from it can usually be two very different things.

I like the tasks for some collection achievements, but others are… well, there are good ones, they can be inspired by those. Trash Collector is fun (met quite a lot of people doing this yesterday, it felt nice).

I am actually liking the collection thing a bit more than I thought I would, I will admit. It might be something I actually make into a questing thing for one of my toons. Maybe my sylvari. She might like spoons.

Yeah, actually very true. I’ve trained people in my job and just when I think I’ve covered everything and can sit back for a bit I get hit with question that really throws me but is obvious. I don’t know, I’m not going to get in depth with anything (though it might help my job…) but something just doesn’t seem right.
