Guardian or Ele..
Someone please save me from class ADD.. before it eats me alive >.>
SO.. staff Ele.. or guardian.. for dungeons/fractals/WvW… AHH.. yeah I don’t know which I prefer.. <.< please halp.
Why not play both, swap depending how you feel or group req.

as it is now elem would better fit the roll of ranged dps or AOE whilst the guardian is better at melee dps or ranged support buffs
I have a personal preference for Ele, but mostly because I am extremely familiar with it. The rotations are easy for me, but I will be the first to say that I am squishy as hell and have to stay well back and support rather than front-line in your face melee as some do.
What little experience I have had with Guardian has been fun, but I don’t know enough to tell you which is more viable.
The best thing you can do is play the one you are more comfortable with, or, as an alternative, learn both well and take the one you need to fit with the group you’re with.

Level 80 Elementalist
My two main characters are a Guardian and an Elementalist. Right now, I think the Guardian is in a much better state.
Elementalist, I stick with mainly for concept and the hope that it will be fixed some day. You can make it work, but you’ll be putting in way more effort to at best be on par with other classes. There’s really nothing an Elementalist does right now that someone else can’t easily match or exceed.
On the other hand, the only complaint I ever have about Guardian is my poor ranged damage options. In all other respects, it performs beautifully, and requires a lot less effort to get that performance than trying to reach the upper echelons of Elementalist potential.

I’d say both. I don’t like any other professions personally. Guardian is awesome in zerg fights where you can just spam the number 1 skill and get loot bags galore (not to mention their defense is AWESOME).
Elementalist is also a lot of fun (it’s my main actually), because for me, I lack vitality, but I make up for in power – meteor’s I do can hit 3k+ damage per hit, downing some players almost instantly if they don’t get away from it. It’s a lot of fun – especially in WvW. Only downside is the ele is very squishy, but if you stay your distance you can have a lot of fun with it.
I agree with malchior about the guardian – they don’t have very long ranged attacks, and that’s something I do miss, but is something the elementalist has. On the other hand, the elementalist has lots of long ranged attacks, but lacks the defense the guardian has. It’s frustrating in a way because they both need what the other has. I tried the guardian sceptre skill 2, it’s alright, but it doesn’t beat the range and power that fireball or meteor has in all honesty. Still, I like to play both depending on how I feel for the day.
