’ello!

Basically, I have been maining a thief and as my secondary toon I have a ranger. Thief is cool and all, but after HoT I started to dislike rangers. Don’t know why, but simply it does not feel like the class is moving in the right direction. That being said, I want to start a new sidekick toon. And currently I can’t choose between Guardian and Necromancer.

Note, I am not a high end player. Highest fractal I did was level 50 and I have never done raids. However, I would like to do them. Therefore the question, which of the two classes has more perspective in terms of end game. Which class has less difficulties in adjusting to high level bosses (large health pool, armor, and a punch).

Any input will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Definitely Necromancer — especially Reaper.

Dragonhunter has a bigger “punch” than Reaper, but Reaper has a larger healthpool and is more desired in end-game content (often due to Epidemic).

hah yeah! I kind of see/hear that. But will the reaper stay as good as it is? It won’t be the case that in couple of months ANet will decide to simply nerf it back to the middle ages?

Necromancer

it’s a tough choice but between the 2 I would pick necro

though both have high survivability and lots of build varieties, Necro takes alot less effort, especially if you run a Minionmancer Build as minions will do most of the work for you.

And because Necro is mostly ranged with minions it would be similar to your ranger and you would feel more at home.

the key to a good necro for raids, fractals and other stuff, is being able to go back and forth between your normal and shroud form. when you are low on HP, go into shroud and heal up using On hit heals from passive skills and runes. then go back to normal with most of your HP and live long enough for shroud to cool down so you can go back into it when your close to death again. theres even a build where you will auto activate shroud at a certain HP threshold wich can help alot.

The thing with guardian is he doesn’t have a back up plan like Necro shroud. He has a lot of ways to keep his health up and resist damage especially for his teamates, but once he is low, it’s run or be downed.

I find Guard has a lot of uses, especially at end game, but Necro is my favorite for PvE. When I want to be super casual and lazy, a minion master build is nice. I just feel like there are more viable ways to play as a Necro, even if the only builds with variety are not meta. Then, again, I am biased.

Both professions have low mobility.

My main until HoT was Guardian, I used it in everything this game had to offer, then I got to the new High level fractals 80+ and it sucked, I swapped out to Reaper and have never looked back, everyone I know whom I play with who had Guard have dropped it since HoT, I personally feel its not in a good place.

It seems that everything the Guard can do can be done better by another class,

Now if you are going to be just farming PVE with it, like CS, FGS, then guard staff spam is king for tags, other than that, you will find it boring.

Everyone will have there own opinion, depending on what they want to achieve ingame, but if your ingame is high level fractals/raids, then Reaper is the way to go.

You never seen an LFG saying 4 DH and a Druid ;o)
