Can we get an answer on this: will guesting exist with the MegaServer? Please. A yes/no.

No. Servers won’t have their own map instances anymore. They won’t be associated with a particular map instance either (players from one server can be sent to different maps at the whim of the new matching algorithm).

Every map instance will be what’s now called “overflow.”

What I take away from that post is that the home world you chose on character creation is one of the primary metrics that MegaServer will use. When it mentions placing you with people that share your interests or goals…that’s fairly ambiguous.

The way I used to pair up with people that shared my interests and goals was by guesting to a specific server. I’m simply wondering if I will be able to skew the MegaServer’s metrics by guesting. In that way, I can trick the MegaServer into placing me with people that are not on my home server.

I appreciate the response. I’m still looking for an unambiguous answer to the question: will guesting exist with the MegaServer?

There won’t be guesting with Mega Server.
But the option you “join friend” in the party menu will still be available.

Hmmm. I don’t like this. I understand the reasoning for MegaServer. But the lack of control or some ability to skew where I’m placed is a deal breaker. Especially given that the metrics for determining placement are locked away in a black box.

Little bit of control and some transparency, and I’m on board with GW2 for the long haul. Otherwise, no one is forcing me to be here, I ’spose.
