I haven’t seen anything official but keep hearing guesting is coming. Has there been any official eta for this? And if/when it happens, will eu and na folks be able to play together?

We have a server wide guild of sorts, folks spread across all servers and players in an and eu, it was created this way…I was told, I haven’t been playing more than three or four weeks…because guesting was going to be part of the game

Guesting is one of the features of the game, but they weren’t able to include it at launch time (though I’m not sure why). If I had to guess, they probably discovered some issue with it that kept it from being where they wanted it in terms of functionality, but that’s only a guess. In return, they have allowed free server transfers, but only once every 7 days.

As far as any other specifics, there aren’t any. The questions has been asked many times, and no answers have been given. I would assume it’s because they don’t have any to give at this point.

As they have always said about things in this game, it will be released “when it’s done.” So, you’re not likely to get an ETA either.

Anything you hear contrary to this is going to be speculation and wild guessing, or an excuse to complain about how Arenanet handles things.

Ah ok. I was under the impression from what I was told that it was in the works and coming very soon. Apparently it was in beta?

I hope they do it though, just another way to make a good game even better and more player-friendly

It’s a system that allows you to log into a server other than your home. You can only do so on servers that have an active friend on your friends list, though. You can’t just pick some arbitrary server and run off to it. This makes it so that you can do in game stuff together regardless of your server.

No other info on it out besides that, though.

LOL, I just started the same thread. That’s what I get for not searching thoroughly enough.

I have had to server switch to be able to play with IRL friends (most of whom only started playing because I talked them into it), and a number of us are STILL unable to play together due to servers being full.

I’ll buy a second account if necessary, but with my luck guesting will be introduced immediately after I do so.

PLEASE can we get a status update on this?

EDIT: I don’t really participate in WvW at this time, so the lengthening of the server switch cooldown a few weeks ago only serves to spotlight how sorely needed this feature is.

Would anyone else not be disappointed if next month, instead of a big content update, we could get an update that really focuses on pushing out these orphaned features? Maybe guesting, open a new minigame, and put some touches on the personal instance? That might just be my dream update!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed. But the lack of anything said by anet is discouraging. At least tell us it isn’t coming soon if that’s the case

The guy in the post below made a good point. Something that would help us as customers and fans in such a situation as this. Give us some insight, please!

This is getting pretty tedious. I’d rather have them focus completely on fixing bugs and getting the features that weren’t in game as quickly as possible. Sure the new stuff is nice but I feel like the mentioned features may just be swept under the rug. Lack of eta and updates on oncoming features gripe me.

I’m aware bumping threads is frowned upon, but since it seems a large portion of the community managers is tasked with infracting people, maybe that’s the only way to get verification that anyone at ANet is actually paying any attention at all to this thread. I’m sick of the silence, and I’m tired of waiting for Q&A sessions that answer the same question dozens of times (see the ascended gear kittenstorm), and ignore pretty much anything else.

The basic party functionality is still rather buggy. It really needs fixing first, because guesting to be in a party that doesn’t work right isn’t a good solution.

Most of the bugs that affect me were reported back in beta, seeing very slow progress. They are very good at pumping out new fluff-n-stuff.

We like your stuff Jeffrey. Just wish the other teams would tighten up their work.

At least it’s good it hasn’t been forgotten. However are we able to get a general time frame such as X months time? Or some sort of hopeful estimate, I know that it would put me and others at rest instead of when it’s ready. I was fine when waiting for the awesome game but Guesting was in BWE and disabled so am wondering why that was the case?

Also there are some speculations that Guesting maybe region restricted and not region-free? I hope that’s not the case as many from Operation: Union will be pretty sad.

I’m sure this is pushing it but is there any possible way to obtain some further information from a member involved in implementing Guesting to post on this thread?
I don’t think that would be likely but I would be really really thankful if it happened.
