Title: “Bite Sized” Guild Chat

Rubi with Nellie Hughes (Game Designer on Auric Basin)

  • We are looking to make changes to adventures – making them more available, changing their requirements. No eta on when this will occur was mentioned.
  • Had an intern that lived on a farm. She made 13 different chickens for Dry Top, including a golden one that was used for the golden chicken achievement.
  • If you go to the Falls in Auric Basin, you will find an Itzel that plays a lute. If you talk to him, he will give you a lute to play with him.
  • Rest of the livestream seems to be able how the hosts do the events and play the game. Talking about how they get distracted by shiny thingies, scavenger hunt achievements in Auric basin, etc.

Rubi with Jerry/Drew (Sound Designers)

  • They are talking about how they designed the sounds for one of the upcoming boss (nostril boss). One of the creature sound was recorded from a door that was making sounds in one of the sound designer’s homes in Philly.
  • Milk carton folded/flatted and water poured in. You squeeze it to make a monster nostril sound. Instead of water you can also use yogurt or jello. Bigger nostrils uses bigger milk cartons.
  • Didgeridoo was also used to make this monster snort sound which was combined with the door sound to make a breathing sound.
  • Jerry was moving a table in the sound effect room homemade by Drew. The sound the table make when it scratches the ground was perfect for one of the monsters (it makes a wubrrrrrrr sound).
  • Next Guild Chat will discuss a bit more about the next raid boss.
Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Rubi was asking that as well. Drew talked about making small nostril and large nostril sounds, “ouch” sounds, attack sounds, needing to get them to cut through other battle noises without being horribly grating, etc. The various foley effects demonstrated were all “pieces” of the sounds for the next raid boss.

They did not give us a finished composite sound, so we don’t yet know how these foley effects will combine.

I’m praying that’s not its real name or I’m going to die laughing.

I’m wildly jealous now. If only I had named my account Nostril Boss.3589. How happy I would be today. Darn ANet and their refusal to allow changes to display names.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I have to ask….nostril boss?

Well first it was a tongue boss, now it is a nostril. At some point there will be a nose boss and an ear boss then you get to fight Jay Leno. The hair boss should be interesting. I guess the last raid boss is just going to be some sort of floating head.

That sounds familiar. Perhaps the next SAB boss given the nostalgic link

During rehearsal, Jerry referred to the boss as “Nostrildamus”. Drew and I were sad he didn’t say that again today.

According to urban dictionary, that was wise of him
He probably has much to worry about anyway considering he has a door at home that sounds like a large monster breathing!

To be fair, if you go to Urban Dictionary your likelihood of finding a terrible definition for something is pretty high.

Doesn’t anybody remember Colin referring to Gorseval as the “tongue boss guy” at PAX South? So now we have a different face part. Soon we will have ear and eye guys.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

RIP City of Heroes

Actually it’s at his in-law’s home 3000 miles from where he lives, so he should be safe except at Thanksgiving.
