Do you think Guild Halls and their upgrades will be earned by playing the game and actually have any depth or meaning?

Or do you think people can just whip out their credit cards, buy gems, turn to gold/influence and just buy their way through everything like most things in GW2?

I am guessing the cosmetic stuff for guild halls with defo be in the gem store, but I am more talking about the actual upgrade systems.

I am guessing Anet will milk it for all it’s worth and anyone with a credit card can max out their guild halls with some kind of time delay lock like with guild upgrades already…

The guild hall is claimed when you clear the area of Mordem

You need 3 resources to upgrade your hall:

  • Crafting mats
  • Favor, earned by running guild missions
  • aetherium, which is mined in your guild area

Undoubtedly there’ll be some cosmetic stuff in the gem Store, but for the most part your area is upgraded through gameplay.

They specifically stated that they are moving away from influence to prevent larger guilds just buying their way to being maxed out.

i hope it’s gonna be like in GW1, buy a sigle and choose the GH you want.
i seriously hope it’s not dumped in the rep stuff like they did with guild missions which i still can’t do because my guild doesn’t do WvW, it really needs to be something you can get at any time.

So basically gems > gold > buy stuff off trading post?

Credit Card>Gems>Gold>Trading Post>Crafting Mats for guild halls?
Credit Card>Gems>Gold>Favor>Guild Hall stuff?
Credit Card>Gems>Gold>Trading Post>Aetherium>Guild Hall stuff?

So basically bought not earned I am guessing…like everything else in the game.

Dynamic credit card gem store driven content with no grind!!1!1! cough

You need to earn the favor from members doing guild missions.
You need to extract the aetherium from the guild building I would guess every day.

And finaly you need crafting materials I guess this is the ones that are abundant in supply atm like leather 350, mithril and elder wood.

Undoubtedly there’ll be some cosmetic stuff in the gem Store,

I really, REALLY hope not.

Judging from the way the decoration included with the bigger HoT preorders supposedly works, you get an item and “give” it to a guild to place. Once you do that, it’s gone. You don’t have it any more.

That means that someone will have to pay with gems (perhaps gained with RL cash) to get the decoration for the guild, and only that guild. They may not be allowed to place it, depending on guild privilege settings, or the guild decorator may place it for them, then decide to move/delete it later.

Worse, if they leave the guild or are kicked, then they lose that decoration entirely. Heck, even the upper levels of a guild quitting the game may cause that, as an entire guild finds themselves no longer able to adjust their guild hall.

Gemstore items would be great for personal housing, but they’re an awful mess just waiting to happen for guild halls.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
