Everything Purple
Guild Hall
Everything Purple
I’m still ticked off because this (and player housing in the form of the home district) was promised to be added to the game on release.
What then happened was this:
-We were told it wouldn’t be in the initial release.
-A while later we were told it wasn’t a priority.
-Even later we were told they weren’t even working on it.
Given the fact that player housing (and to a lesser degree guild halls) were one of the major things I was looking forward too, I’m pretty annoyed by this course of events Everytime I read about it I get angry again because I feel things were promised and later dismissed, as if they were politicians just before an election. I know, cooldown, not the worst thing in the world but it runs deep.
And to add insult to injury, we get a node in the home district to get our hopes up, and then: nothing.
ADD THE FRIKKIN’ THINGS ALREADY! PLEASE!
I think Colin said at Pax that guild halls and player housing is something they’re actively working on, and that it’s somewhat at the top of the priority list. He also added that they could have just thrown something together and tossed it in the game, but that wouldn’t be consistent with their vision for GW2.
In theory this sounds like exactly what you would hope to hear from a dev, but the fact that we don’t have these yet is the only glaring shortcoming GW2 has (in my opinion). Hopefully we’ll get something a little more concrete one of these days.

If what you say is true than I’m halfway between ‘super happy’ and ‘flying to the USA to give Colin a big kiss in person’.
THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME! YAY! YAY! YAY!
I don’t want a guild hall in a WvW area. I want to be able to choose to have one in Lion’s Arch, or a cultural hub.
Apart from that, I’m all for them.
Yeah there’s an interview on YouTube given by MattVisual… I think that’s his name. Check it out! Its a half hour long with some really great info.

No their priority is making this game into farm ville and implement facebook style cash shop gimmicks.
Unlike you, I have actually played Farmville so I call BS on your little statement.

I´m so glad to hear that !
Been looking forward to the player housing all year, I´d really really love to see it come to be soon -and guild halls too.

Of course, housing would be a good way to implement some Farmville-like grinding and cash shop stuff, though, would it not? (apparently the contraction of “would it not” is unacceptable – man ArenaNet you need to get some people to look at your swear-checker… even your own employees are getting mad with it, as we see on the Sylvari forum amongst others).
/trollface
More seriously, I don’t think they will do that, and I’m glad to hear that housing is something that they are actively working on. I’ve always enjoyed MMOs which let me have a home much more than those which don’t. I get that it’s meaningless for a lot of people, and some devs don’t remotely get why anyone would ever want it (WoW’s devs, for example), and maybe it’s even silly, but I just feel a lot happier in an MMO where I have some sort of “home”. The home instance isn’t really that, yet because it’s so generic and un-home-y.
