Hey, I noticed that upon searching for guild halls that there were really no big/merged threads in the general discussion thread (For some reason the search function only brings up one page for me, unless im using it wrong). So i’d figured I’d create this thread. Some key questions…

1. Should there be guild halls?
2. Why should there be guild halls?
3. How soon should they be added?
4. How should guild halls be obtained?
5. How would they affect the game? (GvG, passive buffs, WvW, etc)

Selfless Pug: I just though up a very large amount of information about Guild Halls and put it in the suggestion forum. I think I had some really cool ideas haha, I’d love to the population of general discussion to hop over and take a look at it, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Ultimate-Suggestion-for-Guild-Halls/first#post1729235. While you’re at it, take a look at the many other suggestions that people post on a daily basis. Not nearly enough people visit the suggestion subforum as there should be haha.

I would LOVE to see Guild Halls introduced, and GVG. I don’t understand why it isnt in the game already, after all it is called Guild Wars. I think this is a major component missing from GW1.

There could also be significant improvements made in the Guild interface, being able to see ‘last logged in’ info for members would allow easier management of inactives in your guild, which is always a concern in big guilds that are constantly on the 500 threshold.

Yes I’d love to see guild halls back in the game, and ideally linked to a GvG system as it was in GW1.

Would hate to see them gated behind such huge influence costs that only the mega-guilds could afford them though.

I would suggest only a modest threshold to start with so that most guilds can acquire a basic guild hall and get onto the ‘property ladder’ so to speak. Then have lots of customization options, useful NPCs and upgrades which can be added as influence-sinks for guilds to work towards through activities and guild missions etc

I thought about this too. To acquire a guild hall it would be kinda reasonably priced so that any guild could easily acquire it, however fully upgrading it would be a bit taxing and like you said, an influence sink. If I remember correctly they did this with Guild halls in guild wars 1. To get one, it was pretty easy. The upgrades where the things that took awhile.

1. Yes

2. Many, MANY, reasons, some of which: New form of horizontal progression for guilds (guild “achievements” represented through trophies), a place to call home/hangout, RP purposes, a sense of character ownership/guild fellowship, a place to attack/defend in GvG. (Also, think of the money Anet could make by offering gem exclusive furniture =P)

3. They should be a priority in my opinion, with the recent design philosophy shift from temporary content to an emphasis on permanent content I think this should be one of the first permanent content projects that is worked on and added to throughout the months (things that could be added: new guild hall locations, which would double as GvG maps). Why GW1 has them and GW2 has yet to add them is beyond me.

4. This is an interesting and bound to be controversial topic that I have no clear answer for at the time, however… Perhaps there should be multiple means of obtaining a Guild Hall? Through gold or influence?

5. GvG should take a page out of the WvW book rather than the SPvP book and allow players to use their PvE/WvW earned gear. Siege weapons would also be an interesting dynamic to add to battles that would range between 10v10 and 30v30.

at some point they will add..the question is when.
as for gvg don’t know it’s something the devs will decide (and don’t tell why not to add gvg battles…the game is named after them cause of the lore behind not cause of the feature of gvg)
