Aside from the extremely vague comments that were made 3 months ago, has there been anymore news of this? Just seems like the actual GUILD mechanic in GUILD Wars is lacking imo.
This is Gold Wars 2.
I don’t get it why they are not making player housing? I would REALLY BOOST the game because it would add a whole new layer to stuff you can do in game at lvl 80. I for one am really looking forward to player housing.
It was the only reason i went back to Rift.
So how long after Rift launched was it before Trion added player housing? It’ll get here when it gets here.

Soon
This is something that I’d really like to see in the game. To be frank, I’m surprised we’ve gone 8 months with out guild halls.
Guild Halls, precursor scavenger hunt, and housing are things I’d really think would improve upon this game.
The next 12 months will be absolutely nuts.
So how long after Rift launched was it before Trion added player housing? It’ll get here when it gets here.
Except it was firts promised to be in the game, then promised to be added really soon. Then we hear they’re not even working on it, and we’re still waiting.

Exactly they kinda said player housing will be in game.
Guild wars is more about the lore then having a true war of guild even in GW1 the war was over.
They have added in guild mission that is a major guild mechanic.
Player housing is your person story you just cant buy any thing for it its more of a base off your chose.
As for guild housing its going to be hard to get once they put it out. A guild is going to have to work for it most likely though guild mission. So i hope you have an active guild because once they add them in (i am sure they will just a matter of time) its going to take time to upgrade to that point.

This is exactly why I want Player Housing and couldn’t care less about Guild Halls.
Since they added they Guild content I have pretty much stopped bothering researching anything on my 4 man guild.
As far as I am concerned it’s only purpose now is to provide me with personal storage and to stop guild spam.
I am really glad that players in big Guilds got stuff they can do together, don’t get me wrong, it is my own choice not to join a big guild.
Player Housing on the other hand is something for my own character that I can develop for my own enjoyment.
It would add a really nice personal layer to the game and provide a connection to the world that I think many players need.
Aye, I’d love to hear a status update on this as well, or even find out if they’re working on it anymore; and if they’re not working on it, I’d love to hear what they are working on XD
Just seems like the actual GUILD mechanic in GUILD Wars is lacking imo.
Do you understand that its not called Guild Wars because there are player Guilds? The “Guild Wars” was a war between the human guilds before Guild Wars 1 came out. I belive it was Orr, Ascalon, and Kryta fighting.
Lets play a drinking game called Take a Shot For Every “It’s about the lore” Person in a Thread About Guild Halls.
Lord of the rings online has a wicked housing system complete with ur own house on your own street with front garden and all. i loved this about that game and spec the way u could custom it all to ur taste. i tend to go with the creepy/halloween feel.
would love to see something like that here

+1 to you and the OP, I’d love to see that as well. EQ2 has similar player housing, except it’s all instanced and over a hundred people share pretty much the same location (though the insides are different). I heard LOTRO had the best player housing system in any MMO but I haven’t played that game.
Also, if they do release housing they should roll out Carpenter or Homemaker crafting profession with it. One where players can make furniture to fill the house. EQ2 has that system.

I know right? I don’t understand why people are so insistent on making that comment.. I played GW1, I’ve read both GW2 books, I know about the lore. The thing is, the name of the game was not only referencing lore, but also referencing a major part of the first game: GvG. Something that is unfortunately missing from this game.

It was also a pretty insignificant part of the Lore where as GvG was such a big part of GW1 I really don’t think it would have survived as long as it did without it.
Add guild houses as a gem item. Either ANet gets more money or we play more to get gold and buy the gems
About Guild Halls, use influence and merits. Larger guilds need larger halls, so they’ll spend as much time upgrading stuff as a small guild will do meeting requirements to build the hall
I’m really liking the way that Wildstar is going about player housing……Anet you should take notes :L

Ummm, no. They never promised Guild Halls or player housing would be in at launch. The ONLY reference to it is that one Martin Kerstein quote from Guru, in which he replied that they’d come at the same time, most likely in an expansion.

Are you sure? I have a dim memory of someone somewhere saying that initially it was planned for launch but as time got closer it was delayed but will be in after.
Sure no-one said when exactly but it did sort of create an expectation among players, which is why we have had these threads since launch.
Clearly it is something that many people would love to have.
I don’t think it is unrealistic to say in the first expansion but that seems odd to me since it was very much an idea from the start- at least that is how I recall it.

I followed this game very closely for a long time. While there’s a possibility that I’ve misremembered some things (especially at my age), I very specifically remember the questions about it, and Martin Kerstein’s response.
They’d never planned Guild Halls or housing for launch.

hehe -well I did too but I know my memory is not the best and it is not all to do with age . 41 is not that old afterall
I could have sworn I read it somewhere- no harm.
I really do hope we get it at some point, I would prefer sooner but realistically it will probably be later.
I was actually quite surprised by the quote. I’d have thought guild halls would have been in before the first expansion (and maybe they will be, who knows). And yeah, you’re still young. The memory thing is really insidious.
Lol WoW also promised housing wwwaaaaaayyyy back in their old box release. 8 years later? Lol
from what I remember, when asked about housing, the answer was “yes it’s something we’d like to do, and it’s on our to-do list, but it is low priority. Don’t get your hopes up”
Actually if you can look for your old WoW box, the first release, you’ll see housing specified in features haha
I doubt we will be seeing them anytime soon, since they still need to work on a bunch of stuff before even coming to those. From what we seen about the April patch, with the way they are working the private pvp arenas, they could build on those features when making the guild halls. Just much larger, guild specific, permanent, and less pvp. Though, a small free-for-all pit arena would be a nice addition.
If they ever get around to housing and halls, I do wish they would add another crafting discipline to make furniture. That and maybe a dyeing function to said furniture too, since I seem to be making a wish list…
Let us embrace our interior decorator to the shock, amaze, and horror of all!
I would love player housing and guild halls. Me Andy friends have been waiting for it forever. Thy may feel more pushed to create it now that WoW is also promising what looks like entire guild towns in their next expansion.
My characters are tired of sleeping rough on the streets of Divinity’s Reach!
Homeless adventurer. Please help!
So how long after Rift launched was it before Trion added player housing? It’ll get here when it gets here.
Here’s one thing i don’t get it… Rift added housing with the Storm Legion expansion, 1 year and 8 months after release, give or take.
So what? How long after Ultima Online launched was it before Origin added player housing? Day 1
How long it was for Final Fantasy XIV? 3 or 4 months.
How long it was for Star Wars Galaxies? Day 1.
How long it will be for Wildstar and EQ Next? Day 1 for both.
So what? Why the need to compare with a game released 4 years ago? Having so many examples, a modern game shouldn’t have more and better features than the older ones? Or it’s just easier to say “they hadn’t, so why should we?”
Guild Wars 2 has guilds but no actual guild wars. It’s weird because this game has so much potential. Can ArenaNet perform in the next 12 months? I would buy an expansion without hesitation.
why not place guild halls in instanced versions of jumping puzzles? it would add an incredible amount of diversity to the guild halls, and instancing the guild hall would make it a way to keep jumping puzzles public as well.
of course in the end it’s up to Anet.

there is a rumor and a screenshot of a test arena from a dev stream that gvg is under development

Well FFXIV has Inns with a bed you can sleep in which is nice but they technically didn’t add the full housing system yet and going pretty slow with it, and their current/recent addition of ‘guild halls’ is awful; ran entirely on absolutely massive amounts of gold that majority of people can’t obtain. o.O It’s still sad that GW1 had them and GW2 wasn’t released with them, as it was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing evolve the most. GW2 has been out quite some time though, can only hope it’s added soon.
We have them. It’s called your home instance.

That’s totally true, but they already lowering the prices and they will keep doing it until they find the right balance…
But honestly, since it’s Gold Wars 2 we’re talking about, do you really think that some kind of housing system here will be any different than FF XIV’s?

Not sure if troll or…
We have them. It’s called your home instance.
my home instance is not my house and has nothing to do with any of my characters.
I am pretty certain we will see player housing and guild halls though- we will just have to see how.
That of course is the big speculation

Wow. Now people are reaching back in time to fight with Vayne.
What the kitten you would do in your house? Sounds boring. If anet would wanna do something really cool they could give us ships so people could sail in some extreme hc zones and get good loot. Much better idea than some stupid house.

Just stuff. It interests some people and not others. If its implemented then something else should come in at the time to satisfy those who don’t feel the need for housing.
As said previously in the topic, wildstar is making a big thing of this and the fact that it already works and is useable in their engine. I really think gw2 could and should invest some time into this as otherwise, some people will vote with their feet.

I would build my house .
I would mount all my slayer kitten on my walls,
I would plant stuff, because I can and I would have lace curtains because I crafted it
I would have a whole garden of minis because I am just cool that way :p
Basically I would build my house to reflect my characters

Only if they wanted to add more things from GW1 that end up nothing like GW1; like the birthday gifts were for example. :x It’s fine if it costs money but not something insane like a Precursors’ price. I’d assume it’d be related to merits~ hopefully w/o a giganticly huge time-gate.
It’s silly that an MMO from 1997 with a dozen developers originally could come up with something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbU6c6d1GC0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FztPLlnOnhk
and we still don’t have custom housing.
How bad I want a successor to Ultima Online.
Housing inside the game world
Drop items on the ground and interact with them everywhere you want (no other MMO has that as far as I know)
No instances
No levels
Sandbox
Good crafting system
No soulbound, trade everything
No classses, use skillpoints to build a character from 50+ skills any way you like
Unique, one of a kind items

I agree that we need more guild stuff such as halls and whatnot, but I am one of the few that think player housing isn’t as important as a lot of other things that need to be added.
In every game I have played that has player housing, the gold sinks and grind for certain “amenities” was worse than anything in GW2 as it is now.
Player housing also adds individual content, but group content suffers as a result.
The last thing this game needs is more individual content. At least guild halls is a group effort.
