The new Leaderboards now have a filter by Guild function. If you hover over the achievement points it shows the date they last earned a point.

This may not account for everyone as there may possibly be players that never get a point (can’t quite conceive how but) you can throw those players into a special rank and send them an ingame mail to advise you next time they log in and flush them out if you don’t hear from them.

(btw – our guild of 497 members with generally 80-100 online at any given time only has a handful that haven’t earned a point in over the last 2 weeks. 2 weeks was the longest since anyone has earned a point)

Gonna tell my guild about this. They need to add this in-game, though

It’s not perfect (what if someone plays but earns no points?) but it’s something.

I see people who haven’t earned an achievement point since 3/26. I think leaderboards were added the 7th of april or something?

Most of my guild has been active within the last week, with about 30 within 2 weeks and a dozen or so greater than that.

It still serves as a mean to identify inactive people?

Edit: Not sure why in that respect it is unfortunate that it doesn’t track further back into the past.

I broke it down For Science.

3/26 – 2
3/27 – 4
3/28 – 3
3/29 – 7
3/30 – 3
3/31 – 5
4/1-4/17 – 473

It looks like March 26 is the oldest date.
So out of our guild of 497 members we have 2 possible inactives – yay us!

I log on many days without getting an achievement point, so I guess the fact that I am one of the most active members would not make a difference. Seems like it’s not a good system to use to kick players by.
But then again, I did not play for 2 weeks due to my pet being injured and having more important RL things to deal with, so again, so I guess that’s a good reason to kick me as well. I guess I should be careful when I go on vacation this year and make sure to take my computer with me.
But oh wait, since I am the guild leader of 1 guild, and a member of another that does not micro manage, I don’t have to worry about it. ;-)

It’s nice not to be in a “mega” guild that is to big for it’s own good, LOL!

I’m not suggesting autokick for anyone that hasn’t earned a point over a certain period. I’m well aware there may be people that log in only to /dance in Lion’s Arch.

If you have not seen the person + they have not notified you of taking a break + they have not earned a point over the last month you may well wonder if they are active. Put them in a rank “One Foot Out” and send them an ingame mail to contact you – IF – only if you are concerned about inactives on your roster.

People are blowing this out of proportion. I don’t think most guild are gonna jump on and find everyone that has not been on for 2 weeks and give them the boot lol.

This is something that however could be used a few months down the road to start removing ppl that have been inactive for 3+ months.

You could get your members’ user names and create something that automates updating everything. You select people to be in a watch list and you can track how active they are. It’s no different than gw2spidy or some crafting guides.

There’s some creative people out there so I’m sure someone could make something.

Or ANet could just implement a “Last online since..” bar in the guild roster… Like in GW1. Atm it’s very hard to track inactive people in a maxed guild, since ANet removed the “Unknown” status with a few patches ago.

Really ANet just implement the kitten thing already, it can’t be that hard…

This is definitely something I can live with — it lets the guild leaders who want to track activity/inactivity be able to do so without creating any drama for those casual guilds among us that don’t care about activity level. I don’t have to listen to a relative newcomer to my guild kitten that, “So-and-so (who has been a valuable member of my guild for six years, has been a part of the foundation that the guild was built upon, but who currently has other things going on in his life) is an officer, and he hasn’t been on for a month!”

Go to the Achievements Leaderboard

Select “Guild” in the Filter by drop down box.
Select the guild you would like to see in the Select a guild… drop down box (if you are in more than one)
It pulls up a list of your members.
Float your mouse pointer over the number in the Achievements column and you should see a date such as “Since 4/16/13 1:00AM PDT”

Yeye I’m not a complete idiot lol. I finally got a list of my 500 members. It just took a while for the leaderboards to gather the data I guess.

Now for the criticism. Can ANet just add the “Since date x” to a column on the right or left. This would make sorting this stuff ALOT easier.

Edit:
Ooh and add every member to the list, not just the ones that logged in after the leaderboards were launched.

I still prefer the “Last online since…” in the guild roster, which I descriped in my first post. Please ANet help us manage our guilds more effective and efficient.

I log on many time without finishing anything in the dailies, believe it or not, some people do not actually do their dailies each day! ;-)
You do also know that just logging on gives your guild influence?
People are going to use some kind of system to monitor their guild. The problem I have with any of them is the attitude of some guild leaders. You must represent 100% and log in every day, etc. This is an MMORPG that you should be able to put down for a while and then come back to. There are just to many guild leaders who are fanatics. OMG, this player has not logged in for 30 day! kick him! Is it really that important? Is having a guild of 400+ players really doing you any good that you have to kick players who may have taken a break? I see no reason to have a guild of more then 50 players, tops. If you don’t even know the names or anything about these players in your guild, why are they in your guild? If they are in your guild, why don’t you know when they will be away for awhile? As a guild leader, when was the last time you spoke to each of your members besides sending nasty notes to remind them to represent? Do you know anything about them? Their real names? Age? I bet not.
Knowing when someone last logged on can be useful for deciding who to promote, using it to decide who to get rid of is “not so much”.
I just don’t care for these mega guilds that care more about numbers then anything else.
Our guild always had 1 simple rule in all games we played. Once a member, always a member.

I am not sure that the leaderboard shows the last time someone received an achievement point, but the last time they were logged in when the achievement boards updated. (The time in question more of a ‘as of this date and time’ thing.) As, for me, it shows 7am, and the last time I got a point was the night before.

Also, I am not sure this information is all that pertinent to a guild, as it does not show which guild the person was representing when they were online, just that they were, in fact, online at said time.

Use it as you will….

Guilds should be made up of friends or people you like to play with, not random people invited by spamming chat. If you feel you have to delete someone who has not been on for a few months, then they where not your friend, and you really did not know them, so why where they even in the guild in the first place? just to fill a spot?

And I am going to have to -1000000 his post due to the extremely narrowminded viewpoint on what a guild is. Guilds come in many forms, but the most important function they have is forming a community. This can be big or small. Tight knit or not. As such someone who isn’t actively part can be seen as a detriment to that community.

I find it hard to see how someone who is absent entirely is a detriment to a community. The only thing I can think of is that if a guild has a limited number of slots and they’re running out, having non-participating members could be seen as a detriment.

I can even see if someone is repping other guilds all the time and not yours that that might be seen as a detriment.

But not showing up is like you don’t exist at all. Every single person in the world not in your guild, then, would be a detriment.

Not to be a wet blanket (my guild wants to make similar use of this data), but has ANet weighed in on whether or not scraping the leaderboards is a TOS violation? I haven’t been able to find anything from them, and my (confused) reading of the TOS is that it might be. I’m referring to this document, in the section labeled “Your Use of the Sites”, esp. the first paragraph:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/website-terms-of-use/

My legal language skills are very weak, though – by the time I get to about the 20th clause, I can’t figure out which end is up.

Edit: Legal language as a martial art = kittens. Fixt.
