Hello all,
While I’m playing Guild Wars 2 now, an idea sparked into my head as me and my girlfriend took over the Ogre camp in the Charr’s homeland. The idea I have running about in my mind, I’m not sure if it’s new or not, maybe someone else has suggested the idea, but this idea could very well bring back the populace to every single map in the entire game. Or at least make them more desirable to go back to.
Alrighty to the idea now. Basically what’s running around in my head are “Guild Outposts”. Now basically how this works, is camps as I had just pointed out earlier, that Guilds attempt, or finish, simply capture the camp, and it essentially turns into a “Guild Outpost”, now by any means this does not mean the events, or dynamic events actually change. This will all be normal, npc’s and or monsters will once again “Raid” the camp to try and reclaim it. All that will change i simply having your guild banner/flag strung up at the entrances of camps, and maybe add in some “Guild Bank” npc’s, and other Guild npc’s.
Now, with this idea in mind, and the fact that there wouldn’t be any significant change in how the dynamic events still proceed. While the camp, or “Outpost” is under a guilds influence, or command, you could add slight bonuses to that particular guild who claims, or captures the outpost. Bonuses could include Karma Booster, Gold Booster, Experience Boost, etc. basically the same things you pick up from Guild Banners.
Now, of course this was just something that had popped into my head, and everything is not all thought out, such as how do you go about deciding which guild captures what, and how everything just plays out, but it certainly is a start as to how we could see just every map in general become more populated, and give reasons for other players to revisit the maps. This would also exclude the idea of people joining others guild, and simply leaving the Guild after, because the players wouldn’t receive any bonuses as they’re not part of the Guild, who captured this.
I suppose to decide on who “Captures” the outpost would be decided upon how many members of the most populated guild was actually there and participated, or it could go to the guild with the most “Gold Medals” showing that they actually had to participate in order to capture the outpost under their “Guild Name”. Another idea could be that sure, one Guild may capture the outpost, but other guilds that participated receive the same bonuses, or a timed bonus for participating at the very least. Also, the more camps/Outposts a guild claims, the more stacks of Bonuses they would receive. But since not everyone can be everywhere at once, the camps are sure to fall, and arise under a new Guild Name anyways. So really, it’s not like one Guild could essentially control everything.
As I said before, it’s not well thought out yet, it’s just an idea that sparked into my mind while duoing this camp with my Girlfriend, killing champs duo and such. It’s a start anyways to bring more people back to the maps again.
Anyways… just suggestion that I personally would love to see, seeing how the maps I’m doing right now are pretty scarce in population. (Yay world completion… Again…)
I just posted this in the Suggestion thread, but since this is general discussion, I am curious to see what people’s opinions, are on this idea. As I’m sure this will probably get buried, or not even looked at in the “Suggestion” forums.
