Lightdivinity – Level 80 Bunker Elementalist
Reshaos – Level 80 Power Necromancer
Does anyone ever look back at Guild Wars 1 and think, “wow, look at that archaic UI and game play”?
I mean seriously lol. I guess the content, balanced classes, and the fact it wasn’t pay 2 win is what made it such a great game.
They really out did themselves with Guild Wars 2.

What do you mean by pay 2 win ??
gw2 is as same as gw1 , it’s not about money ( money just for skins ) , but skills and tactics.
Well I still play GW1 so I do find myself comparing them. Usually when I try to do something I can’t because it’s part of the other game. (For example when playing GW1 I keep pressing H instead of I to check my equipment.)
In GW2 I miss click to move when I’m going long distances, the highly customisable UI (especially the ability to put my skills in any order I want) and being able to keep my bank tab open anywhere in town, but I think that’s about it.
Although in some ways the two are very different games. In GW1 I was very goal focused – I’d pick a quest or a mission or whatever and go do it, occasionally I’d pick another one up along the way but I’d come back and actually do it later. Whereas in GW2 I spend most of my time roaming around and reacting to whatever happens along the way, doing things as and when I come across them and maybe never getting to what I’d intended to do.

You completely misunderstood me. I was referring to why Guild Wars 1 was a great game back then. Most of the other MMO’s that competed with Guild Wars 1 was pay 2 win.
I was not stating that Guild Wars 2 or Guild Wars 1 is pay 2 win at all.

However “archaic” the GW1 UI might be, it’s far more user-friendly and customize-able than the GW2 UI.

You mean the “archaic” yet fully scalable UI where you could reposition all the elements as you wanted.
Yeah I look back at that and hope that GW2 will eventually hit the same standards.
I hope that Anet mix the good things from both versions and put them together in gw 2
I bought GW1 back in Nov because I wanted to get more into the lore.
I couldn’t get into it at all after GW2- what I missed most was the incredibly fluid and fast movement of GW2- I felt like I was stuck in fly paper.
I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome it still looked and that I recognized some of the characters though.
I was supremely surprised to see how good the different classes looked and how varied they were. OMG some of the starter armors were awesome!
Well i just loved guild wars 1 pvp , best ever and alltho the ui was " archaic " it was customizable
I hope people aren’t being sarcastic when they mention one useful feature about Guild Wars 1 UI which magically deems it to be not archaic.
Maybe you should have explained why you consider it archaic?
Fully customizable is a pretty big deal. Oh and targeting actually works and does not switch/lose targets like it does in GW2.

Exactly my thoughts!!!
I miss all the PvP options added from factions-EotN. I was not a good PvP player by any means, but I had options as a casual (except for HA…that was the most elitist PvP arena I’ve ever seen).
However, I am much more happy with the PvE gameplay of GW2. They definitely need to work on story pacing for the future, though. Treahearne=Kormir from GW1.
Treahearne=Kormir from GW1.
The only time that I felt annoyed by Kormir was when she swiped the final act of heroism from us at the end of Nightfall. Treahearne annoys me every time he speaks and add to the fact we are essentially his side kick and dont matter at all.
