Guild Wars 2 Convention?

If you build it, they will come.
Usually conventions are started by fans or by companies that make money by organizing conventions. Companies don’t usually hire someone to set them up. So, if you want one, consider trying to find a bunch of people who are similarly interested and try to get something going. I’m sure someone from ANet would show up, if done “well enough.”
Anet goes to other conventions after all (gamescom for example)…it’s easier since they don’t have to do all the planning.
And getting enough visitors for just one game probably isn’t as easy as getting enough visitors for a convention with a broader spectrum of fandoms.
organising a conventions isn’t that easy. you need rooms, you need manpower, you need evtl. sleep-possibilities (atleast for the helpers) and catering, you need to care for hygenics and have medics around not to forget you need people to care for booths, gaming room, stage and night program, generally entertainment and interesting programn for the visitors… not to forget that you also need the funds first to pay everything and it isn’t for sure that the entrance fees ill carry the costs so that you don’t lose too much…
I’ve done that in a rather small context (~500/1000 people), planning a con is a lot of work. I think IF there’ll be one it would be fan-organised.
So if you want a GW-specific Convention: find allies for your project and start planning one.
the users are fairly scattered all over the world though, so the finding of the right place (good transport connenction, relatively central, so everyone can go there easily) for such a project would be very important.
If I were you, I’d start with a simple Meet-up and/or a fan meeting on a bigger convention before making crazy plans.
Group-cosplays are also often a great chance to meet people that like the same stuff like you.

ANet isn’t Sony (Everquest) or Blizzard in terms of putting on an exclusive con for their players. But they do sometimes go to general fandom cons and announce it on the forums and social media. As for the next one, other than gamer cons to demo/hype the expansion, well I imagine it will be after its release.

well blizz con for example isn’t wow only Anet only has gw1-2, so yea would be hard to even justify it with what would the event even show.
so nothing in terms of a blizz con for anet then? I wish we had our own for GW.

We don’t have 12million players for ANET to do a convention.
…..does no one think of NCsoft con…….
Aion and Lineage II numbers are small in NA and NCSOFT decide that the EU wasn’t worth running the servers themselves and provide support so they licensed the games to 3rd parties and merely collect a royalty. And then there’s WildStar.
The last reported quarter GW2 was 77.8% of NA/EU income and WildStar with 10.1%. That meant AION and L2 in NA (and what GW income that is still being generated) had an awesome 12.1% of income between them. So the bulk of any NA (sorry EU) NCSOFT event would pretty much be a GW2 event.
