Guild Wars 2 Expansion Ideas
I really wish the world was seamless in the first place. It’s probably too late at this point to ever expect that to change. Well, the things that bother me most about it won’t likely change.
I don’t like the constriction feeling I get from the zones. If I want to go from one zone to another, you can’t just cross over unless you’re in one of the few spots. There just happens to be a rectangular range of mountains around every zone. It’s bad enough that there is a load screen, but restricting that load screen to a couple spots really sucks.
I like how in another mmo I play you can travel almost from a zone to another zone in any spot of the map, without a load screen too. No need to raise mountains to funnel people into a few small spots. Anything less feels archaic and not natural.
Even if they have to use the illusion of no load screens, it would greatly help. Reworking all the borders and making it where you can go from zone to zone without being completely funneled would be the complete fix imo.

It’s never too late about that. Knowing MMOs, they always change, for better or worse. So the possibility of changing the world is always going to be there. One risk I can think of related to seamless travelling with less loading screens is that there would be so much data to load that it can eat up latency which can be a severe hindrance to those with low bandwidth like myself.
Expansion? Well…just going to be cpt. obvious here:
+ New Weapons
– Polearms, /Greataxes, Whips, Claws, Bo, Crossbow,
Flail, etc. etc.
+ New Professions
– Monk, Dreadknight (some kind of offensive support)
+ New Race
– depends on who you are asking…Tengu, Quaggan or
Skritt
+ Existing weapons to professions
– nothing to add here. You get it.
+ New modes for PvP
– Like a deathmatch, or a tournament where like 10 ppl
are having duels with each other till there is only 1 left
just off the top of my head…
Wlaadas Frost – Warrior (Charr) Torlic Frost – Guardian (Norn)

Whenever the loading screen issue has been brought up before the people who understand the technical side of things have always said it’s impossible.
Anet could have made a game without loading screens and with seamless borders between maps, but they’d have to do it from the start. Changing it now would be virtually impossible.

They could change it. It would just be a monumental waste of time and resources on a scale so massive that I don’t want to think of all the tooltip fixes we might miss for the change.
loading screens are not a problem.
gw2 is a good game and all but it is really time for games more along the lines of
black desert online
arche age was a let down the combat is clunky
if only u could sandwich GW2 Tera and arche age in to one game
keeping the focus on pvp /wvw
u would have a top seller
It was already decided multiple times by almost whole community. It will be Cantha.
Tekkit’s Workshop
loading screens are not a problem.

It’s not that much of a big problem to be honest. I just thought that the game could be better. But I can understand if modifying it would be difficult. It would probably take a relaunch for that to happen. But I can dream, can’t I?

hey I am dreaming to XD so don’t take it personal … it is just at this point it may be better if GW2went on to GW3
idk if a expansion can fix this .
yes it may give old players a lil more interest in the game. but that is not enough to generate sales at this point …
GW2 already has a really bad reputation for not improving on other mmo games
this game has gone to long with out major improvements. it would be a waist at this point sadly

Except that the modified version of the engine is, supposedly, more friendly for “real time 3D environments.”
Also, the game doesn’t struggle with the size of the map? At least, never has for me. Largest maps in the game run smooth, it’s all about immediate population and how much kitten is going on at one time.
Just because it was modified from GW1’s versions doesn’t mean this wish is impossible. Hell, realistically all they could do is just tear down all of the walls and make the map “look” bigger using textures from the surrounding maps, with nothing going on beyond the border, have a very definitive line drawn on the minimap along with a sort of glassy look in front of the player and by going across this barrier you are taken into a new map. Obviously there would be some exceptions and kitten…
The problem is that it would take such heavy modifications of what currently exists, it’s an astronomical waste of time. There aren’t/shouldn’t be any technical limitations to this feature, just a manpower issue in the current state. When introducing new maps as well, it’s a good idea to stick with the current theme rather than change it up suddenly – otherwise you have two mechanics which is just a stupid idea.

Tearing down the walls would leave you with giant gaping blue spaces in the world. The maps are not all connected up to one another, they’re separate chunks. If you glitch out of the map and go to the edges there is nothing there, it’s not like GW1 where everything was joined and you could glitch out and then run through the world.
Also I’m not really sure of the point of your larger paragraph, yeah they could make the line where you cross to get between maps larger – FFXIV does this – but what’s the point? It doesn’t change the fact that each map is still its own separate thing.
really this again…………………………………….
What part of : “A-Net announces no expansion coming”
is so difficult to underdstand ??
There is no hidden super secret brewing.
They don’t announce something because there is nothing to announce.
It’s going on and on and on and people keep on being disappointed.
It’s getting old

They have a team of 20 people working on the living story. What do you suspect the other 300+ employees are working on?

I was asking that myself for almost 2 years.
I guess they have 12 reception desk ladies. An army of 75 food caterer
and what not.
I also had no idea why nothing moved forward or was at least descent.
Then i learned something that calmed me down.
GW2 is not made by the same group of people from GW1
They don’t care about quality or gaming experience. They deliver to the
“usual” youth without any expectations or the will to invest some efforts.
Since i learned that it is way easier to understand why everything is like it is.
All that has nothing to do with the sequel of GW1.
Just take zerking, It is a huge problem for any half brained person.
But it keeps the developing costs low and spares them from being creative
and it works very well. Or at least well for “these” types of players.
if you like roleplaying or quality exploring, GW2 is not for you.
I learned it and you can do it to for your own peace

If you read carefully, I mentioned IF they are considering doing an expansion. I am aware that there was no announcement nor anything secret going on.
All I care about in an expansion is getting back to Cantha. My human characters want to go home
If there was an expansion, people would expect a dragon to be the final boss.
After two years and close to two seasons of LS, we are still short the second elder dragon. Elder dragon #2 will be released soon.
ANet can not introduce a new elder dragon right after Mordi. Therefore, if there will ever be an expansion, it is at least 1 1/2 to 2 years away.
One would hope, that ANet would give us something substantional before that, but hope is just missing information.
They are more likely to work on GW3 than working on a GW2 expansion I say. Maybe you should write down what you want in the sequel… ^^
