I never played gw1.

When I heard about being in multiple guilds in gw2 I was impressed.

But when I actually played the game and realised there was no point being in multiple guilds because you have to represent to see gchat it made it redundant option for me. There goes the social aspect.

As a niche guild for adult players, we are a small guild. We have created an alliance with another adult guild on our server.

But we don’t have any in-game guild to guild alliance tools. An Alliance chat channel would be nice. Currently we have officers joining each of the guilds so we can whisper to exchange events etc. But a proper channel would be much better and easier.

Is Guild Wars 2 ever going to have Alliance guild features?

But it don’t have factions maybe on the release of cantha expansion i hope.

I’m fairly sure sometime in the future we will have alliances.

Why would you need Cantha to have alliances? AFAIK The Pact is alliance in every way. Btw, i wouldnt hold my breath for cantha expansion since half of Tyria’s map is still unused, Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire etc. It will take long time to add all elder dragons into those regions and im sure Cantha isnt even in plans atm.

With the addition of guild missions, only doable by guildees representing the specific guilc, without alliances that allow non representing members to get the boons from guild missions, small guilds WILL die. no matter what. Anet should realize this and hold themselves responsible for killing small guilds in one fell swoop

I played the original Guild Wars for 5 years, and when I had my serious times with guilds before I just stopped caring about anything except my HoM I really loved Alliances. We don’t need Cantha to have Alliances. It’s an easy enough addition to the game in a future patch. I would also love to see Guild Halls return what’s the point of investing so much in a guild if you don’t have a ‘physical’ place to show off your achievements as a group. Just my thoughts on it, gENTlemen.

Fixed that for you.

Small guilds have already proven they can run the guild missions. There are 6-man guilds running T1s already on my server. They had to put in more effort than a larger guild to unlock bounties, but that’s the con to being in a smaller guild.

small does not equal bad… our small, casual-oriented guild has been around since pre-release. We do dungeons, wvw, pvp, basically ALL the content. With this new slap in the face patch, they made it that simply because our guild didn’t have a huge pile of influence or gold on us on february 26th, half of the people left to join guilds that could afford the content. I thought anet was avoiding buy-to-play, which is what they did with guilds in this patch. If there were alliances so that big guilds could adopt smaller guilds and give them access to the new "free"content. That would be the unselfish, unhurtful way to do it. The small but fun guilds like ours will be able to get the bounties in a few weeks or a month, but not after most of the small guilds have died or dwindled down to a mediocre attendance.

You are obviously in an elitist hardcore guild or a zerg guild who has already had fun on the content, either way, please don’t say that its FAIR for a smaller guild to have to “put more effort in” by about 1000 fold than a large zerg guild to experience this “free” content. Our guild generates about 1000-ish karma in the course of a day or two, and we have been throwing our money at the beer guy since launch. we just barely have enough for arch T5, god forbid the unlock cost. This is just ridiculous that we have to ruin our own experiences to UNLOCK “free” content.
