I am here to ask will Guild wars 2 (The best game ever) get a permanent Trial Period instead of trial weekends as i think this would help Guild Wars 2 get a larger community.
BTW. i was just wondering about this so don’t get snappy now (bite my head off)

Uhhhh … wouldn’t that make it a free to play game? Not quite the business model Anet is going for. If you enjoy the trial weekend buy the game, you only gotta pay for it once.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

I like this idea with the exception that waypoints are 0.99$ per use and dungeons are 1.99$ per run until you purchase the game.

on second thought it should go f2p and refund to all those who had paid for the game.AWESOME!

-1, no, people who buy the game already get carried by the gem store, f2p is an invitation to make bot alt accounts, free access is an invitation for people to make spam bots.

lol I think what he is suggesting is they should create a trial account like they can make 1 character which can level up to a max lvl of 5 or 10 to get more people into the game because im sure most of you have noticed beginner zones are empty.. this way people can at the very least try the game

Starcraft 2 did this and they got so much more players because of it.. it’ll leave testers longing for more

What could they experience in starter zones here? Mindless champ train members going ape on them because they dared to touch the champion out of turn? I doubt it would leave them longing for more.

My guess is, they figure gold sellers would flock to these. After all all they need to do is stand in LA and message people, they wouldn’t even need to pay the $40 dollars or so to buy the game. A good savings for them.

Or he could be saying that he wants a 14 day trial or something of the sort that is always available.

After the mass mayhem that happened in WvW servers with free trials…I’m inclined to say no.

Free trials produce lots of certain things:
1) Gold seller spam
2) Scammers
3) General chat spam
4) Un-enforcable trolling, griefing, exploiting, glitching, etc

The problem with free trials is that if they ban that account, the person can just get another. These were problems that I saw when lotro and SW:ToR went f2p. If they were to do this, I’d only support it if they put them in their own little server so they cant drastically affect the people who paid money to get the game.

There would be so many ways for people to cause problems if they had permanent free accounts. Scam somebody or loot a guild on your free account then transfer the goodies to your account. Get free accounts to troll enemy servers in WvW. Use free accounts to stalk and harass someone. When one account gets banned, rinse and repeat. The possibilities are endless to a dedicated troll/stalker/griefer/scammer.

if it’s limited to one character and only the starter zones, that would be cool (and they’d know whether they wanted to buy it by then)

So only the low population severs should get gold sellers, scammers, trolls? I’m sure that would help these servers to gain people if they have a bad reputation for this. Let me guess, you are not on a low population server so this wouldn’t be your problem.

The way I’d do it:

- Limited to 1 character up to level 15 and the starter areas of each race plus main cities.
- Make a trial server with a free one time server transfer when the game is purchased, and/or block trial characters from chat (/s and /m) to prevent spamming (they could see the chat, just not participate on it). /w only to those that have added you to their friends list or whispered you first.
- Trial characters blocked from using TP, bank, guild bank and mail (to prevent trial used for botting and transfer materials and/or gold).
- Trial characters limited to 1g total.
- Blocked from WvW (otherwise trial characters could be used to spy on enemy servers) and sPvP matches, but I’d allow them to enter the heart of the mysts so they could explore how their character would be at level 80.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

Calm down Captain Hyperbole. I am sure your low pop realm is getting a ton of players as is and I am sure the only people that would ever trial are bots/hackers/trolls am I right?

Brilliant. Denying the exploitable of “temp” characters while bringing real potential players to the game. Sure other things would need to be added to shore the list up, but a good start.

Good idea actually,i bought this game after last trial where i after long time thinking should i buy or not i decided to try game first which convinced me to buy it,if there was no that trial whould not buy game at all.I think they should give permanent trial with level limit on like 20…or so.People that like game they will buy it after they see how great it is.Its important that they give opportunity to many players to try game because lots of them will buy it after trial as i did
