Guild Wars 2: Whats next??
Maybe, they SHOULD do something to keep ppl interested otherwise you know, Wildstar, EQ Next, ESO… I dont even need to explain…
don’t forget Blade&Soul, Archage Online and more……
What will Wildstar, EQ next, eso, B&S and Archage online do to keep people interested?
Good question really, Wildstar they made the lore this way so that actually everything will be revealed to the player after level cap and they said they will keep expanding this story every 2-3 weeks, thats all i know. it sounds something like living story but the difference is that wildstar is for hardcore players so it will take them much longer to level cap.
‘they say’ and maybe and they could be the best are meaningless until they actually show something. Good try with the scare tactics though.

World Of Warcraft has as of this year, over 7 MILLION subscribers still active (according to mmodata.blogspot.com. And that game has been in existence for nine full years.
Unlike Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft has not got nearly as advanced graphics, voice acting, or any of the other advanced features that this game has. Additionally World of Warcraft has been coming out with story content almost continuously since its release in an effort to keep its subscribers happy.
Guild Wars 2 does not have subscribers in the way that World of Warcraft does. As such they are not as dependent on making their viewers happy the same way as Blizzard is. That said, unlike World of Warcraft who is probably slowly running out of ideas for new content, Guild Wars has a CRAP TON of stuff already available to it that we haven’t even seen yet.
1. We have as of now only defeated ONE out of SIX Elder Dragons. Two of them we aren’t even sure actually exist as more than just hear say. That is Five Full Scale Updates right there. Each with a possibility of a level cap increase and or new weapons and skills.
2. Elona is cut off from Tyria thanks to Palawa Joko. We will probably need to go in and deal with that issue as well. Probably even to the point of dealing with the Margonites a second time.
3. Cantha is cut off from Tyria, and possibly under the sway of yet another evil Emperor. Heck Shiro might have returned again somehow for all we know. Being dead already he has some advantages on the immortality deal.
4. There are at least SIX missing Gods to figure out at least for the Humans. The Norn have their Spirits to figure out. And the Asura have the whole Eternal Alchemy thing to figure out. Then the Sylvari still seem to have unresolved issues with the Nightmare Court. Not to mention the Charr’s issues with the Flame Legion. Those unresolved issues could be yet another content update.
Truth be told we have a whole lot we can still do in this game that has yet to be released.

You know i like Gw2 a lot, really a lot, im just a bit bored and yes thats because most of the living story updates (not all) are not so good, if they really have so many options what do they need the collaborate development? im not trying to be offensive against Anet, on the contrary i posted many times some of my ideas in this CD post, but really, when they gonna start adding all these awesome ideas?

What you said all sounds good theoretically. But in reality, we get Scarlet, Scarlet, and more Scarlet.
Surely you guys realize that these current things being worked on were planned months ago, before the collaborative development started.
It takes four months to make a part of the living story, so what we’re seeing now is back in time four months.
You’d have to go 2-3 months in the future to see some of the collaborative stuff getting worked on.
WoW doesn’t have voice acting or advanced features? Wut?
Look, I get that it’s the in thing to bash on WoW, I really do. But seriously, you can’t just spout off whatever you want and hope that makes it true. WoW has so many advanced features to it that, for some people, the whole game is centered around making a beautiful UI. I’m happy to bag on the many flaws in WoW, but at least be accurate with your criticisms.
That being said, I don’t see why GW2 must have an answer to the Draenor expansion WoW just announced. We’re consistently getting new content. They’re one year out. There’s no need for any sort of expansion right now, even if they intended to roll one out at some point.
-Mike O’Brien
Because we can’t be angry about both?
is that wildstar is for hardcore players so it will take them much longer to level cap.
In what way is Wildstar for hardcore players?
Really hard?
A grind that makes GW2 look completely casual?
Please explain why Wildstar is hardcore?

It’s not World of Warcraft that they need an answer for its Elder Scrolls Online and EQ Next. Both have combat systems that will be familiar to GW2 players, both are next gen MMOs, both have huge budgets behind them and with that, expectation to succeed, both are from established and incredibly popular franchises.
Both have not been released. Both are going through exactly the same hype as GW2 did before release.

Yeah, every next gen MMO is supposed to be the next big thing in gaming. I mean, Rift even taunted WoW in their commercials. People are cautious about buying into new games without seeing if they succeed in the first six months. That creates a rather negative cycle, but it’s part of the reason a lot of games flounder in their first year. SWO and LOTRO are both well-known franchises, too. Marvel’s Champions Online, D&D… I guess we’ll have to see how they hold up as time goes by.

Exactly, and they get to learn from the mistakes GW2 has made. At to be fair to ArenaNet, learn from what has been successful.
I’m looking foward to WoW Warlords of Draenor. They adjust sgat/power creep and it’s said that we’re coming back to roots of original WoW in some cases coupled with improvements, new graphics, good story (that Garrosh though…seems unnecessary), beautiful expansion (Draenor! Almost like back to Outlands!). It’s also said that they’ll focus more on mature content in this expansion. No new class means better balance at start and for Hunter…There were some hints that all things I’ve been missing in MoP are about to come back (Welcome Entrapment, Mongoose Bite, Concussive Shot 100% uptime+glyph, More casting, less instant procs!!!). Gotta say, I’m kind of excited and unless they fix Ranger class by then and bring up some solid story/lore, I know my direction. Welcome back, Hunter !

ArenaNet have already said they don’t have any plans for an expansion at this point.
So, yeah, there’s a lot of potential but they’re not working on it.
All they do is bring us more and more inconsequential living stories.
WoW has so many advanced features to it that, for some people, the whole game is centered around making a beautiful UI.
Haha .. yeah since the UI is the worst i ever saw in an MMO, and even all the addons are not able to let that crappy map show you where you really are.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I can’t help thinking that I heard all the exact same things in the run up to GW2 being released – that it was going to have to compete with a new WoW expansion and all these other games being released around the same time (or shortly afterwards) and would have to do something amazing to keep up.
The only thing that seems to change is the name of the games. Then it was Mists of Pandaria, Neverwinter Online, and RIFT becoming Free to Play. Now it’s the new WoW expansion, Elder Scrolls Online and Wildstar. Next year it will be a new batch.
The way it seems to me MMO’s very rarely “kill” each other off. GW2 was never going to be a ‘WoW killer’ the same way WoW didn’t kill off Everquest or Ultima Online or any of the other games that pre-dated it. It can have an impact yes, particularly when new ideas and technologies come along, but if anything it seems to be when developers try and hop on the latest band wagon and make or alter a game to mimic whatever else is coming out at the same time that they run into trouble.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
The only next thing i can see is… Pathfinder Online.
It’s not even a TP, but it’s the only title that cought my interest.
That said, GW2 still has a huge unexpressed potential that could keep high my interest in the game for many years to come.

Living story is less than successful. And amet is still trying to push living story on us and trying to make it a success when it isnt delivering in so many ways?
Anet needs to ease up on living story amd give us moreof what we want…like housing or a true living world that doesnt revolve around living story and achievements. And this needs to happen rapid.

Look the truth is, living story can become something really good, and also the truth is that they can add in the game content such as Housing (which is awesome) through LS/LW, they really can. It wouldnt bother me if they were putting the content via LS, the problem is that they dont seem they know what to do next therefore thay dont add good content through LS therefore we are start getting bored…

Just get an expansion out that revolves around another Elder Dragon and some other cool lore, pushing the story forward. Who’s gonna be the next Khan Uhr? Can the Norn get their home back? With Zhaitan down we can finally push the Risen back more and more, perhaps eventually healing Orr?
There’s so much to work with and even though Scarlet is a decent filler arc, we need something big and I think it needs to happen soon. With so much on the horizon in the MMO genre alone it will be a very hard year to compete with all those new games and expansions.

Yeah i made a point like that 1 hour ago but they removed it, i totally agree with you, it will be hard to compete, it was good as long as it last it…
We fight different dragons, Scarlet gets replaced by somebody else who pops up for a handful of releases, we grind for ascended mats while they toss backpacks and minis at us. I don’t know, I got nothing.
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
Maybe, they SHOULD do something to keep ppl interested otherwise you know, Wildstar, EQ Next, ESO… I dont even need to explain…
I’m a bit dense, could you explain it?
Players will leave, because they are bored with nothing to do.
Just to point out to all the doomsayers, Everquest, yes one of the grandfathers of graphical MMOs as we know them, still is quite lively with casual and hardcore players and a new expansion (#18 I think it is). If you are really worried about some next big thing killing off GW2, just look at the old MMOs that are still around releasing content every few months. WoW coughing out another expansion will do little to GW2.

WoW was awesome 2-3 years ago, NOW, is not that is bad and ppl stop playing, is that is getting old and ppl find other things to play, Gw2 is one of them… but you got to admit that the industry changed. MMOs and generally other games really dont last for more than 2 years anymore… and since Gw2 is already been out for 1.5 year and next year are all these MMOs coming out im just saying that if ANet doesnt fix couple of things players wont care so much about Gw2, is just a game anyway…… BUT i hope im wrong!

Yeah exactly, and all that just because all these other games will offer a new experience, not because they are better than Gw2, i dont thing they are..
Because Guild Wars 2 relies almost entirely on Horizontal progression, where you reach the exact same level and wealth you had 1 month after launch, I don’t think we’re going to be seeing anything new (except for a new backpack skin, gemstore weapons and armor, and…that’s about it)
