Guild Wars 2 as a Real Time Strategy Game?
I love RTS games and I’d love to see a GW2 one. I agree that there’s a lot of potential throughout the series for settings.
I’ve often thought WvW is kind of like an RTS, but one where all the units have a mind of their own and will go off and do other things if you take too long, or run off to fight random creatures you’re passing, or go the wrong way and fall off a cliff…
I think it could be kind of funny to have an RTS with a WvW mode where you can command your units as normal but they may not obey and may instead carry out seemingly random actions based on common player actions.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
My thoughts are on improving the “what we have” rather than the “what could be”
i think if this were to happen it would have to predate both the games, as in the time of the guild wars. only way i could see it making sense.

Warcraft began as RTS and then went MMO, wouldn’t it be great if Guild Wars, which started as MMO would get it’s own RTS Game?
Minor correction here but Guild Wars 1 was not an MMO nor was it ever called an MMO by Anet. It was an online multiplayer rpg yes, but it was not massive. In fact, Anet called it a CORPG i.e. a Competitive Online Role-Playing Game.
I do not remember where and when I read it. It seems that the RTS approach was what inspired WvW. It was probably what inspired the approach of large meta events that have in some maps and thing “commander”. … RTS has always been my great passion. When the Warcraft they limited the number of units to only 90 and increased the focus on the thing of heroes, I sensed that the game was going through a bad way, then came the announcement that Blizzard would shift it into an MMO. …. It is probably because of this that in Guild Wars 2 I like more the Personal History of the LS2, why the Personal History have more battles “open field” as the LS2 follows a more investigative line, where the plot goes further by “behind secrets hidden behind doors.”
So, would we get a feature like Warcraft did that when you repeatedly clicked on a unit avatar, they’d get annoyed?
