Guild Wars 2 movie
As an animator…I don’t see this happening.
GW2 must suck because it has a bad storyline according to many people. Personally I dont find the storyline to be bad, just too short.
I can actually see it become a good movie, depending on who directs it. It definitely has to be an adventure-lord-of-the-rings-kinda style to be successful though. Epic quest to slay the dragons, meeting new people/races, environments along the way. Meeting up with key characters that know how to beat the dragons. Epic battle for Lion’s Arch.
The storyline of GW1 would make a better movie, but I think a GW2 movie can become awesome too if it focuses heavily on CGI. Just think about an Avatar like world for Sylvari.

It is too short…because it’s just the beginning. It’s like the story of Prophecies isn’t the story of all Guild Wars. We still have more to do, as in killing the other elder dragons. Hell even the Karka event continued the story, and now the living story is driving it further (though I think the living story has been way overhyped).

Most of those people rushed to 80,skipping most textlines,Then complain at the end that the story wasn’t satisfying.
If I buy a front row seat for the premiere, can I be sure the theater won’t add another row of seats in front 20 minutes into the movie?
I think I’ll buy the BR instead.

It’ll be directed by Uwe Boll
Please give us a keyring…
The storyline and characters aren’t fleshed out enough to warrant a movie. They would definitely have to expand on certain parts of the lore (such as the Pale Tree possibly being a champion of the jungle dragon), improve certain characters (Trahearne, namely), and slow the pace down into multiple movies to warrant a film adaptation.

But they could make movies from the books.

True enough, but only Ghosts of Ascalon was good enough to make a good movie, IMO. I loved the character of Dougal Keane and was extremely disappointed in the fact that you can’t go on adventures with him.

But you can find him in game….have you spoken to him?

It’s nothing more than a cheap cameo to acknowledge the existence of the book series. As one of their few good characters, he deserves an actual role. Like a big part in a future living story update.
I like the character too. That said, I also liked the second book, Edge of Destiny. I liked it for different reasons. But it would probably make more sense to make an Edge of Destiny movie, just because of the direct link to the game.
On the other hand this is all theoretical because I’m pretty sure there’ll be no movie. Still can’t wait for the last book.

Oh, I like Edge of Destiny as well. I merely acknowledge that it isn’t well written. It’s full of inconsistencies and poor characterization that make me wish that Jeff Grubb and Matt Forbeck would have written it instead. The parts with Eir felt slow and tedious to me, even on my first reading of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the friendship between Rytlock and Logan, however, and the background of the characters was interesting to experience, if nothing else.
Will William Shatner and Brian Blessed star in the movie?

William Shatner should totally play Trahearne.
As long as trahearne dies painfully over and over and over and over i’d watch it.
Seriously though the GW2 storyline is an abomination, it makes resident evil 6 look sophisticated.

I think sea of sorrow could make a pretty good pirates vs undead movie.
I look forward to the director’s cut where they randomise the order of scenes in the third act.
Guild Wars 2 story: 5/10
Guild Wars 2 gameplay: 9.5/10
.. Yea, lets just get more gameplay pls ..
Video game movies don’t do very well at the box office so unless it was the best
movie ever it would most likely will never happen but who knows. There’s going to be a Mincraft movie and a WoW movie so stranger things have happened.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Mabie not a movie…probably an adventure game would be better. ( Telltale, I’m looking at you )
