Guild Wars 2 new player impressions
Welcome to the game, and I hope that you continue to enjoy it going forward!
Welcome to the game. All I can say is, don’t shy away from things like PvP or WvW. They can be insanely fun when you are level 80 and have gotten a better feel for the combat in the game.

Agreed on all counts but one! The events are the “quests” of this game. Don’t think of them as a break, think of them as advancing the story of the zone you’re in (plus they may be the main source of xp for you).
Welcome to Tyria, there’s lots more fun waiting for you.
Yes, GW2 is definitely different. It’s possibly the only well designed and polished game released since WOW which wasn’t to some degree a WOW clone.
Personally I don’t love all the changes – eg. getting rid of roles (mostly) – but I think most are big, albeit simple, improvements which noticeably increase the fun factor.

I see your point and you’re right. But I don’t think the OP is wrong either.
“Questing” has essentially become defined as being given some task by a stationary NPC who is always there. Because that’s how 99.99% of games implement it. I’m pretty sure that’s how the OP used it and in that sense they’re right to make the distinction they did.
Yes, from a new player perspective, guild wars 2 is really fun, I was like that too.
But, you will find out that gw2 isn’t that much better than any MMO.

Says this guy^
But this guy (Me) says ‘I have played GW2 since headstart and I am still a fan of this game and I can not stop enjoying it and I can not get back to the other MMOrpg’s without getting frustraited over Quests and stupid race to get to Harvesting nodes and tag an Enemy before another player’.

Welcome to the community, as a fellow newer player, one of the big tips i can give you is when you hit 35 you should start running dungeons because you level up extremely fast and its best to learn the exporable mode fight mechanics as early as possible. But be very careful joining lfg pugs that arent specific in the party description, as you will be judged and kicked quickly from alot of pugs until your achievement points are 1k, thats how most people in pugs skill / gear check in this game right now.
Hello! I’m also a new player and really enjoying the game! I agree with all the points you hit. Took me FOREVER to decide what class i want to focus on first..
Lv32 Necro! yaaaa!
GW2 is still a race to tag mobs. Its a much more severe and often frustrating race, as during events unless you are soloing them, mobs tend to die in less than a second.
If your lucky, you’ll tag some for exp, but you probably won’t do enough damage to get loot – Only reason you do is because target capped skills mean you might be hitting something someone else isn’t.
That being said, its still got a pretty good leveling experience compared to other MMOs. Its just too bad NPE screwed up progression.

I would say heart were added as quests since people couldent grasp that you can just go out in the world and find stuff they had to have clear markers on were to go.
All I can say keep exploring there are hidden areas you can find with no marker on them at all.
