Hello fellow players of Guild Wars 2 and welcome to my what i think about Guild Wars 2 so far (newbie review)

About six days ago i did a topic on Guild Wars 2 called " The Game ! What a newbie thinks about it ? " about what i through about that game as i started off in it. Since then i have played a bit more of the game and want to say what i think it.

I have not played it as much as i wanted to, because of real life (e.g.work and life) but i have got my main character up to leave 40, Human Warrior. My through on the game has not changed, but i wanted to feel you in with that i think “so far”.

All MMO’s that gets made will get compared to ’ WoW " not because there the first MMO but the first to get it right, so when a game have skills, leaving, quest and other thing the first thing people will think is “oh wow, another WoW clone” but i think this is the one of the first witch you can’t do that to. My reasons for this is, one, questing , questing in Guild Wars 2 is not like other MMo’s ( in most MMO’s you would go to an NPC and get a quest click next, next and next and don’t read a thing, because all you need to know is to kill 40 boars or get him 14 sticks from the pond witch you will see in the quest helper on the screen) but in this game they through what the hell who need them, but then you think what the hell would you do ?

Arenanet has came up with ways around the " questing " in MMO’s and did something new, they filled the wold with number of different things, here are a list.

  • Renown Hearts, renown regions or tasks :
They are area indicators within an explorable zone, each renown heart area has a NPCs that haves a local goals that need to be accomplished. Hearts are reminiscent of traditional “quests,” with the difference being that rather than existing as a checklist of things a player needs to do in sequence, they are simply a list of actions or activities that will all contribute to the progress of an area’s heart.
  • Vista :
A vista is an interactive object located in the world which triggers an associated cinematic. It appears as a column of light with a scroll floating near the ground. Interacting with the object will cause the camera to pan across nearby scenery. Vistas are intended to showcase locations and their environment art. Before each Vista usually lies a jumping puzzle players have to overcome to reach it.
  • Skill challenge :
Skill challenge is a task that can have you fighting a hard monster, giving you something to eat or drink, giving people and many more. When completed, rewards characters with a skill point. The Skill point system in this game is not like most others this skill are not normaly main combat skills, the more side skills or heals, things to help out, they way combat skills work is that each weapon haves a defolt 5 skills they you learn then more you use (the more you use the more it unlocks) this bring a hole new thing to the table with combat, why ? because you can (with 2 handed weapons) mix and mach weapons (e.g. if i put and knife in my left hand and a sword in my right i would get a new set of 5 skills then if i put the knife in my right and they sword in the left i would get a hole new 5 skills) this means for more customization of the character to make it play the way you want it to.

  • Point of Interest :
Point of Interest is location on the map, ranging from specific places and sites and small things witch you would have miss by going from one Renown Hearts to the next Points of Interest, often referred to as PoIs by players, are initially marked with an unnamed hollow icon on the map. When a character arrives at a point of interest for the first time, a message will display on screen indicating the name of the point of interest and the amount experience earned for the discovery. Once discovered, the map icon is changed to a filled orange square and will display the place’s name when the player mouses over it. This feature in the game promotes exploring the games world witch i am having a huge fun doing.
  • Waypoint
A waypoint, is a floating stone marker that players can instantly travel to by using the map (this coast a small fee). In lore, it is an asuran creation, they call it a magi-matter-transportive device . finding this for the first time will give you a good amount of xp.
  • Dynamic event
Who can for get your Dynamic event (refer to any event that occurs in a persistent area as a result of players interacting with and exploring the world) They are called “dynamic” because there are multiple outcomes that also result in new events, lets say you was invaded by the enomy and won they would then run away and try to come back later to try again, but if you loss the point where they was fighting will then becomes there and if there was a Waypoint in the area you can no longer use it, but a new Dynamic event might start when you try and get that point back, this are really fun and bing people together to fight for the same goal, Dynamic event also have Event scaling Events scale both up and down according to the number of players who are currently participating,

Increasing the number of monsters.
Increasing the level of the monsters.
Unlocking new abilities for the monsters to use.

Dynamic event all up is a amazing and fun way to level up

  • Personal storyline :
The personal story is the storyline which, along with events, makes up much of PvE gameplay. The personal story is independent from random world events and is always available to follow through the game world and the events which occur there. The personal story is told through character specific instances and is personalized by decisions made before and during gameplay.
Other players can help with another player’s story but are not able to make choices which affect the outcome, though they can choose to accept the outcome as their own.
  • Crafting :
Oh, how i love crafting in Guild Wars 2 most of us who play MMo’s know what crafting is now i wont boar you with that but the reason why i bring this up is because Guild Wars 2 is the first MMo’s to make it that you can get to level 80 with out killing anything or doing any quest, you can get to max level by crafting, in most games they just add it in as i side thing to do but in Guild Wars 2 it’s a main thing and things like cooking can get you A LOT of ex in a small amount of time.

I “think” i have coverd every thing in how to level with no “quests” in the game, now i wont to talk about somthing i have not played much of yet but want to play MORE of they is the PvP side of this game and oh boy is it fun. The game haves this thing called WvW (also known as World versus World) witch is a Player versus Player game mode where players from three different servers, or worlds, battle in the Mists. It features open-world combat on four large maps with up to several hundreds of players per map. In World versus World, players can besiege structures such as Keeps and Towers with siege weapons, battle over resources, and win rewards for their world. When i first jump in i was like wow where do i start, but meet up with other plays and started to take down walls and doors to get into towers and taking control of them, this game more is a lot of FUN ! WvW is not just player Vs plays there is also PvE in WvW and it makes it more fun to play

The other PvP side is well PvP ( or Structured PvP) i can not talk about this since i have not played it yet. sorry guys.

in conclusion i love this game it does thing other MMo’s don’t it what makes it new and fun, it been along time since i have had this much fun in a MMo and to get wonder-lost in it wanting to explore every part and saying “i wonder whats over there” in other MMo players like me hate it when some player comes in at the last minute and get the kill and ex and lot, but in this game you want them to because everyone helps each other, you all get the kill, ex and the lot so it a win win.

I having a real fun with the story and fell sad for some of the character in it and thats something new for me in a MMo because in MMo i don’t normally care if someone dies or something happens to them but in this game i do.

I rate this game 10/10 it’s Amazing and i recommend you to play it the best thing is its only $60 with no SUB >.< YAY, now that i bring up the thing with the no subbing to the game i remember about this stupid comment of the Guild Wars 2 Facebook page on the post about the new item in the Black Lion Trading Company to change your character’s hairstyle–or go all out with a full makeover kit, there was this “person” complaining about why gems coast real life money and thing like that, we all new why there is a cash shop in the game and thats because there is no sub to the game so your not paying money every month to keep the game going, the gem store (or cash shop) it a a thing where you pay with real money to got things like cosmetic items, the game does need to make money and the people that work on it have to also, but with that out of the way i would just like to thank Arenanet for making an amazing game and also to the community you all wonderful and fun to play with.

Thank you for your time.
