Guild Wars 2 patches are good.
I have to admit I’m getting used to new features from last patch. Still I feel it was just a copy-paste from Chinese client with the only reason of unifying game versions in case of future patches.
I created few new characters only to check how the tutorial part and new rewards are doing. I’m not a fan of those changes but all in all the rewards are ok. The only thing I literally despite about those changes is level gating weapon skills. Devs made the point it’s to slowly introduce new players to their skills, which is terrible argument. Before, you had to use each of your weapon to unlock the skills. Now when you unlock skills on appropriate level you already got them unlocked on all weapons – which is absolutely opposite to your “learning” intention. Sorry, old system was much much better in this case. Hope you can see it and reverse the changes according to weapon skills.
What I like the most is you actually take care to check the forums and adjust your changes to our feedback. Thank you and I hope one day you’ll do the same about PvP and dungeons.
I have to agree I like most of the changes from the last few patches. Each has been exciting to see and experience, and while it is pretty unpopular, I love the changes to the speed of leveling as well as the idea of introducing skills at the rate they do.
Much of the new patch isn’t copy paste from China though.
The NPE is somewhat, but there are also differences. It’s not the same. In China you don’t get a black lion key at level ten story reward for example. Collections are new to both games. The trading post changes are new to both games. The balance changes are new to both games.
And yes, I’m in love with the ranger changes.
I have to admit I’m getting used to new features from last patch. Still I feel it was just a copy-paste from Chinese client with the only reason of unifying game versions in case of future patches.
I think that’s a pretty good reason, to be honest. I sure wouldn’t want to be maintaining two considerably different clients when resources are already stretched thin.
I was initially quite skeptical of the changes in the patch, but as they revealed more and more, specifically getting into week 3, I became inexplicably excited about the update. I have yet to try out the new leveling experience, as I’m still gearing up my main toon, and I hated leveling my alts before the patch anyway, but the other changes have been refreshing at the least.
New things to do thanks to collections (although it may be a while before I seriously invest time in any of them), new trading post UI, which pretty desperately needed a makeover, minis and more now in the wardrobe, and I even like the new commander tag colors. I didn’t have a tag before, but like many others, I decided to take advantage of the 100g price tag before it went up, and I’ve been very happy to have several opportunities to use it to help organize things like Teq or the karka train.
Pretty good update IMO, and I’m super stoked for Halloween this year, and the return of the Living Story right after. Good job, Anet!
There are a few things that annoy me with the changes:
We don’t gain more than 1 weapon skill in the opening level: I feel like this takes some of the fun away from the opening level, as what used to be an excited experience is now sort of boring. You just stand there at the boss and wait until it dies. It would be nice if we could have at least one weapon skill, like have us level up once during the opening level before we get to the boss.
Second, I feel like the dodge tutorial basically makes the dodge daily challenge worthless. I think it should have been in the opening level as a mandatory thing. I also think that the rally system should be covered in the opening level.
Thief – Engineer – Elementalist – Mesmer – Guardian
As you mentioned Andred I’m really excited about the halloween update. Near halloween I usually try every living game in the world because I’m so excited and I love that holiday (sadly I didn’t participate on the last one because I bought the game that winter). So let’s hope my first halloween here will be good and I can write a plenty of good words about it and I should even make videos about it (the how to do stuff with of course a load of excitement).
XApocalypse: “How much are you being paid?”
I’m not getting paid I created this topic for my own because in my previous topic someone said that the forums are full of negative posts and most of the posts sais that the developers don’t do anything, but it’s not true. Those who creates the patches are actually working, and doing such a thing is not that easy (I mean working on a game). So I created this topic to show the developers that these things are good in the patch and they will remember it so they have a guiding light in a positive way. And than they sould listen to us even they will ask us “What would you mostly like in the next patch”.
I think most of the people who are working on something and working the s*it out of themselves don’t get an inspiration from those who are saying:
“Hey that is a piece of s*it I hate this patch there isn’t anything good make better patches or kill yourselves!!4!!”
The positive feedback is the key to inspire the people who are working on something for example on this game. That’s why I created this topic to give good feedbacks to the developers so they will create better and better patches.

Mosharn I’m not living in bubbles I know exactly what is going on with the veterans (I’m a zerk ranger and I know what the new patch brought to me) but you won’t get anything from complaining and being one of the many. You could inspire the developers a little bit to make them a bit more happy.
As you can read in my previous “reply” if you are getting only negative feedbacks you will lose that momentum what you had at the start and after a while you will hate working on it so you will give up the whole thing what you were working on.
As I said in the topic give ONLY positive feedbacks forumers or don’t write anything ArenaNet deserves a little bit of it they are working hard.
Hey forumers and developers I have created this topic to do some positive feedback for the patches and to inspire the developers, because after a lot of complaining and whining topics this should be a relief where we thank the patches and updates.
So I wanna start with the leveling. I think you did a great job with giving players some new presents for the levelups (for example a dye) it makes the starters a good feeling that they have received a gift because of a simple level up and now it’s not that monotone. And of course you put in the teaching of the dodge. Most of the people should said it is unnecessary, but I have a bit of a dumb friend who didn’t know how to dodge on lvl 16!
Now to the people with higher level. the new options in the character menu is great (for example now we can summon a pet without inventory space and it says with us).
Ok so I left a lot more options from the patch to you guys and girls and I would like to ask you all to write down the good sides of the patches to inspire the developers. And after the new patches we could discuss here what you really like in it. Heads up and be positive guys.
Sorry to burst your bubble but none of the ’’feature’’ pack changes were positive. They screwd it up for new players and there is NOTHING and i mean NOTHING of use to veterans.
The very minor changes this thing brought were very subpar and it shouldn’t have taken them 6 months to do all of these things.
People have tried being positive but you can only take so much lazyness from someone.
Trading post changes – positive
Collecting changes – positive for a lot of people
Crafting UI changes – positive
New crafting items – positive
Back end upgrades for big fights – positive
Better rewards for leveling up – positive
Personal story rewards revamp – positive
Commander tag account binding – positive
Commander tag colors – positive
You may think that the small percentage of changes that represent the NPE are the entire update, but really you’re just focused on what you want to focus on.
And not everyone agrees those changed to the early game are negative.
