Its called Southsun Cove, and Im pretty sure thats exactly what the devs intended it to be after the last living story left Southsun. We all know the zone is overpowered, and almost no purpose was seen by players for entering the zone. I still dont see much purpose, besides the somewhat difficult meta-event that requires about 20 people minimum to do. The fact that the meta-event is the zone, and that it requires 20 people at least to complete, only for a minimum of 2 rares and a chest, pretty much tells me, and should tell you, thakittens an open world raid. The event takes 20 minutes at minimum, if you are quick.

However I feel like Southsun Cove is dead in its activity for still two reasons.
1. The devs barely made clear what the purpose of swarming overpowered mobs into southsun cove was. It seemed like a back pedal.
2. More recently people farm it as an meta-event/raid though. The only problem is thakittens certainly not rewarding enough for two rares. People will only come if the queen is summoned. They dont wanna work at taking the camps. There needs to vendor that spawns afterwards, that holds special recipes, crafting mats, or even settler gear.

I actually was rather happy when I realized Southsun Cove is the equivalent of a raid. I like the concept of an entire map being a meta-event. However it still has a lot of problems, like an incentive to do such a long event. The devs should continue to update Southsun Cove like other parts of the world using the living story.

make capturing camps gives
- daily account bonus chests
- daily character huge event chests

this should encourage some participation i guess.

Has anyone actually been saying that? I read a ton of people saying they want to overcome a challenge in order to get a reward (as opposed to RNG)

GW2 raids are not coordinated, or challenging, at all. When’s the last time anyone actually failed a dragon meta-event?

People have been saying both…

People ask for challenging content. Challenging content is added, then comes along the next whiner crowd and complains that the challenging content doesn’t reward well enough for the required effort. Then the loot is buffed, and the next crowd complains that the content is too challenging, and they shouldn’t be forced to do it to get the reward.

Make up your kittening mind, people…

What challenge? Those camps require you to just throw bodies at them.

The only challenge is finding 20 people willing to do it.

Let’s be honest, that’s the only challenge in WoW’s raids too. Well, that and doing the raid before to get the gear needed.

The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real.
No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind.

Klawlyt if you’re aksing from people to be honest ,how about you being honest at first place?

You say Wow raids are easy?
Well LFr versions you can set follow to random player and afk whole run, normal versions are more challenging(still easy for semi organized group) but man…HC versions are and always will be challenging as hell.

Back when I played WoW people couldn’t even do 3 bosses in firelands. Guilds that tried to do it couldn’t do it and some guilds destroyed it I think A net needs to take a page out of WoW and add

1. Raids with 5-7 bosses wth mechanics you have to figure out.
2. If not a gear thread mill which i wouldn’t mind then add beast looking gear that can be obtained because you took on the challenge and succeeded and don’t sell Asurians short (no pun intended) on design.

Yeah, like the folks above me said, WoWs raids are actually quite challenging. WoW basically has the best raids in any game running, it’s one of the reasons the community has lasted as long as it has, comparing content in GW2 currently to raid difficulty in WoW is just wrong.

There are a few face-roll raids in WoW as I recall, but not many, and even when mechanics were figured out the raids often took a hell of a lot of coordination. I hope that GW2 gets content as challenging in the future.

The question is can you fail a dragon meta event.

The answer is everything that wrong with the meta events.

Just saying, Open World Meta Event have never meant to be challenging, neither to be used as “raid”.

Seafarer’s Rest EU – PvE/WvW – 8 × 80 chars.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
