ArenaNet, for Guild Wars 3, please remake Guild Wars 1 with next gen engine and graphics. It would be a reboot, but keep the gameplay and combat system the same, maybe improve it a little, but don’t change it too much. Start working on it in 2016, and hopefully we can have a release date for 2020.

I’ve been a Guild Wars player since the original release back in 2005. But after an overall disappointing experience with Guild Wars 2, a Guild Wars 3 announcement is the only thing that can give me hope and get me excited for Guild Wars again.

When they started on Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars 1 no longer got new expansions or campaigns. I’m not particularly interested in 4 years of no expansions because they’re working on another game.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Considering the trend in gaming is towards simplification I don’t think I’d want to play Guild Wars 3.

Seriously, I personally want not too see a Guild Wars 3 ever

If ANet ever plans on makign some kind of new game, then it will be hopefully a completely new franchise – a complete new game that will be made new from scratch with a totally different and new story and theme

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

As cool.as that would be, no thanks. I too have played the GW games that long, I even played the open beta, got my beta invite from my game spy sub(anyone else remember that?) and I was hooked. I don’t get the same feeling of enjoyment when I play GW2 as I did with GW, but then I’m not the same person I was then and my life has changed alot, so maybe I would not enjoy GW1 now like I did back then, if it was remade.

It’s a nice pipe dream, but that’s all it will be. As I really don’t see a GW3 happening any time soon, maybe in 2025 maybe, but not any time soon.

If they added a gw2 PvE server that…

1. Used attribute points instead of stats.
2. Allowed secondary profession.
3. Elites skills could only be captured from bosses, instead of bought.
4. Equipment used AR, runes, and insignias.
5. Weapons used inscriptions and upgrade components.

I’d buy that version for $99.99
And I’d live there until I was little old man. And die with a smile on my face.

Have to admit that the addition of heroes to GW1 was a bummer to me.

yeah, anet should have stayed with that GW1 formula, it is way better than GW2!

Yeah, also bring back the reputations.
And bring back the constant resetting of an instance just to kill one mob for a chance at a specific weapon skin
And the death penalty that basically made it after two deaths, reset.
Rubbing up along side invisible walls to get full map explored
Paying to get instantly ran to LA

Good timez

The morale penalty/buff system was one of my favorite features in Guild Wars.

It meant you had to not suck at the game.

At least until they got stupid with all the consumable nonsense in EOTN that just let you turn on easy mode by spending some currency.

It was horrible and easily exploitable. All it took for one person to troll everything and get people killed.

“oops! I didn’t mean to do that!” – party wipe
“Oooops! I did it again!” – party wipe, kick the wiper, reset instance…

If by “exploitable” you mean “required your team to not suck” then sure. Someone wanting to troll your PUG has like five thousand ways to do that in any game. That’s why PUGging is generally less of a good idea than making friends. In any game. Because you will inevitably PUG with trolls at some point. In any game.

except it varies by degrees.

GW1 – troll does his thing either midway or near end of the run, forces you to restart the whole thing.
GW2 – troll does his thing, gets kicked, no progress loss, just some time.

Honestly, if this was your biggest issue, you missed the entire point of the system, and the game in general. It took five wipes to get booted, and only if those were back to back usually, and even more if you were at the middle or end of the run due to the morale bonuses you already had from killing bosses on the way. Are you telling me you let someone troll you through five wipes, and that your comp was so brittle it couldn’t stand losing one member?

I can’t think of a single piece of content in GW1 where I had to kick someone and we couldn’t just finish the run with 7 (or 11 for the factions elite stuff)

The entire point was that you couldn’t do the lazy res zerging you do in GW2, and that getting killed at any point actually mattered. That was far superior to the system we have now, where the same dead weight can die over and over and it doesn’t even matter because you just pick him up and everything’s right as rain.

In GW2 I can routinely lose two party members every encounter in any instance, and those deaths don’t mean anything, and the damage of mobs is tuned so high and their Hp tuned so low to account for that that the whole game devolves in to one big DPS race because death is meaningless. That’s boring and it makes runs boring because it is literally impossible to fail.

Though, if all you want to do is insert buttons and get loot, I can see how it’s annoying. GW1 played better as a game with that system in place, rather than a loot dispenser.

I think my next MMO will be virtual reality. And I know a heap of other people will be as well. So if there is a Guild Wars 3, it will be interesting to see it incorporate VR into a build that isn’t half baked. Not investing into virtual reality would be a big mistake. My concern is the whole locking down of headsets. Occulus Rift for example is locking down games to their product only. This is a dumb move, one which has turned me right off that tech, and more towards their competitors.

Or people could play GW1.

shrugs You know, just an idea. Crazy, I know.

Personally, I have a burning hatred for GW1, therefore I play GW2, so I certainly don’t appreciate all these posts of nostalgia-hungry players shouting “Make GW2/GW3 more like GW1!” when they could just log into GW1.

never said it was my biggest issue, but good job assuming. People are looking at the game with rose tinted glasses…again. Like people tend to do until they go back to it and the bad stuff starts to come back…

Heck, the message boards spread around are still up. Go and read some from years back

I feel that GW 1… is pretty complete as far as the storyline goes, but GW 2, to me, is very much incomplete. I feel, and many would agree that there is still so many cliffhangers in GW 2 right now that it would be irresponsible to abandon GW 2 to work on a GW 3

Spent 3 years of my life in GW2 and the last Xpac taught me to not rely on ANet to deliver on the things I like to do. Instead they went with the SAB crowd with the jumping and verticallity, and the elitist with the e-sports and raids. For many years I was content having 3 separate areas within the game where you could be decent at whatever and not hear a single “GET GUD NUB” uttered. Now it seems the target audience was never players like myself, even though the manifesto made me feel like I would have a home here.

If they were to release GW3 or even another Xpac at this point I had better see video coverage (that I like immensely) or I will not even bother.

Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, I’m an idiot for putting my hand back in the fire!

You said it, my friend. I totally agree. They totally spoiled the elitist player in this game with their first xpac, which would otherwise be fine, but… if they continued on that course… I wouldn’t invest in it either.
