Guild Wars is such a GREAT game...
You’re right of course. Guild Wars 2 is at and end, and there won’t be a Guild Wars 3, because there doesn’t need to be.
I’m thoroughly convinced Guild Wars 2 has a bigger player base at this moment than Guild Wars 1 had at the same point in it’s history.
And there were several times in it’s history when Guild Wars 1 players cried out about changes to the game, such as Nightfall when heroes were introduced. Quite a few people saw heroes as the death-knell of the original Guild Wars and for them it was, as their social game slowly drifted into a mostly solo game.
Guild Wars 2 is an end, because they can keep upgrading it indefinitely which they couldn’t do with Guild Wars 1…the only reason they did this in the first place.
Bigger playerbase doesn’t always mean a better game. It is just that now MMO games are more widely played and Gw 2 is (or was) focused on casual gameplay.
Gw 2 does not feel like a very social game to me anymore, the only time I see people actively speaking in full hubs like LA is when new content has just hit, I have gone into a full LA and saw a new player ask a question and an hour later still no one responded, in fact not a single person said anything though the map was pretty full.
And areas only seem to have people going round in squads, not speaking to each other apart from telling people where to go or someone screaming out commands because everyone is just auto attacking.
Newer games do take longer bringing out more content which is understandable since the game has become more graphically demanding and coding and other aspects take alot more work now but I feel they are providing for us graphically at the expense of fleshed out, engaging content (Which I found Gw 1 did well at).
I would strongly recommend GW 1, it is old yet enjoyable and it does not cost alot for the amount of time you can get out of the game (America Active district is the place where everyone gathers, it is fuller than you would expect)

maybe that is how you see it for the heros but truth and honestly be told here heroes
was never see as this at all as the death-knell of the original Guild Wars
heros from night fall was a great add to the game and made it more better to get not
only missions done fully right the first time but also able to go across from L.A to
Drocks and Beacon’s perch like i said maybe that is how you saw heros . but not every
one saw heros in that same light as you do . and i been playing since it first came out
so i do know the differences here of what it was like before they put heros into that
game and afterwards too that is why when night fall came out i made good and sure
i had it preordered and hopefully maybe one day they will do the same here in gw2
then again maybe not got to see but i can say if they do . without a question at all it
will only improve this game fully by far just like it did with guild wars one

He didnt say everyone saw heroes in that light, just that some did. I hated the addition of heroes as they effectively all but killed one of my favorite aspects of the game.
i will say op i do agree with you fully on most of what you say about guild wars and still
play it today fully just as much as i do guild wars 2 . but where i do differ with you at is
that guild wars 2 is and has still a lot of room for growth and improvements . and if the
drevs update the wrappers of the graphics and so forth . it be like having a new game
for free yet again . but still all in all if they did add heros some day to this game. i can
honestly only see this as a plus .for the fact trying to get people for dungeons paths and
going off on you own power with no one around could maybe a good thing here in the
game like in hot and maybe new areas to be add to the game but hey this is just my
thoughts on this topic only . but i do agree with you op

i just read it as the way he wrote it and the way i took it only . and so ok you agree with
him that is all fine and good . but in my points of views i made them clear . and myself
i love the heros they was the best add to that game ever next to the events and
missions and the wide open no one around to help you at all maps unless you had
them in your party

You missed my point entirely. Whether you and thousands of other people liked heroes is completely irrelevant to my point.
My point is based on the OP’s original post. He’s playing to the disenfranchised in Guild Wars 2. You can see my the OP’s post history he doesn’t like a lot of things about this game and he’s painting a picture of Guild Wars 1 as a game where such decisions were universally liked…but they weren’t universally liked.
Heroes split the Guild Wars 1 community much as the conversations about raids splits the Guild Wars 2 community today. Neither game was without criticism and people walked away from both games in frustration over the years.
What one person believes or doesn’t believe is not relevant to the point. I like heroes quite a bit. Doesn’t change a thing about what I said though.
I adore my spirit ritualist.
Ohhh do I know about those logs, and ruins, and broken stairs too. I’m currently in the Diessa Lowlands map, I have some skulls for Nicholas. Great stuff. ._.
There really should be a forum section for GW. I would at least read it.

Heros and hard mode really is what kept that game alive.
Without them, the game would be closed down because henchmen monks are horrible and player ones are too rare.

not really at all i got your point fully and how you really said it too . ahh but you did
want to include that into this post here so ahh . but that is your right to do so even tho
it is not the full post of what was being said . but na really i got your point and that
is not missed at all some of us just see it differently then others do without any kind

me and my ele are enjoying this too as we make our way all over the place too and
love the music and yes it would be nice to have a forum section for GW1
GW2 is the most beautiful and boring game I’ve ever played.
Really? Having played gw2 first and then the original I think that Guild Wars is soo much worse than 2.. go figure.
Not a day goes by where I don’t wish for a spiritual successor to guild wars.

^ Defenetly the most bewtifull game with excellent artwork(hat off to the peeps involved in that work modeling animation artwork), still the rest is awfully awfull.
The most bewtifull mmo experiance and also the worse mmo i ever played, besides graphics game hardly offers a good experience.

I agree that guild wars needs its own subforum. Seriously how hard would it be to just add a Guild Wars 1 General Discussion? It feels like Arena Net is trying to write gw1 out of history. They haven’t peeped about the future of the game since 2013. Even a nice little recognition of gw1 would be amazing. Every now and then put something new on the gw1 website or briefly mention the status of it.
I regularly play gw1. In fact gw1 is my bread and butter – while gw2 is something I play for a week after a patch comes out for it. To me gw2 is a so-so mmorpg with some nice innovations and deviations from the genre. Gw1 is a unique tactical mmorpg.

How is Anet trying trying to write out the original GW out of history? Look at the recent events: other dragons from the past that are now active and included in the story, the return of Lazarus, the plots of the white mantle and the leaks about the second expansion in crystal desert, the return to the fire island and bloodstone Fen…If Anet really wanted to write out GW1 then the obvious way would have been to close down the servers which would be really dumb since now the story is tied to events from the past. GW 2 was at first a continuation of what GW1 set up: the creation of the sylvaries and now the story goes back to its roots, which is awesome.
My two favourite things in GW1:
1. The vast number of skills and dual classing which led to a hugely enjoyable culture of creating, sharing and tweaking skill builds/combos. Of course there were some overpowered ones but there were also some weird and unexpected ones. The whole thing was set-up to encourage switching skills. Loved it.
2. Heroes. Yes, they divided the crowd but for me they extended my enjoyment of the game by a couple of years. I’m a control freak so having a customizable party at my fingertips was top notch. If I could vote for just one addition to GW2 in my lifetime I would choose heroes. And, no, I don’t care that “it can’t be done” or that “it ruins the social aspect of the game”. It would still get my vote.
I put too many thousands of hours into GW1 but it looks and feels a bit dated now. It can never re-capture that initial rush of shiny excitement.
