Guild Wars on Consoles??
Been asked a million times already, they’re not doing it, they’ve said they’re not doing this.
I would have no interest in GW2 on console. I have it on PC, a console version would be a step down.

I wouldn’t have any interest in the console version. And I don’t know any people who would. Though on the forum there seem to be a few…
I think, OP, that people who love consoles always want all their games to use them. They’ve figured out how to manage in a world with only a handful of buttons. In contrast, PC gamers can’t get enough buttons — look at gaming mice; each new generation seems to have more buttons and more “states” (allowing multiple uses for each button).
So I suspect you could rephrase your question to, “how many people spend more than 50% of their gaming hours playing console games?” and you’d end up with the same people answering, “yes” as with “would you pay a US$20 premium to play GW2 on a console?”
I’m in school for game development and this is a part of a presentation I’m doing. Hypothetically speaking, would any of you or your friends be interested in playing GW2 if it was made available on consoles? Once again, this is COMPLETELY hypothetical for the sake of a school assignment and there is no truth to my knowledge that ArenaNet is actually doing this.
prob not, cpu performance on consoles is still awful. need to wait until the next gen console are out. This half gen console cpu performance stinks
There are people playing GW2 with controllers. I think those would be only good candidates for playing on consoles. It would be a huge handicap for PvP and WvW to play on console. Mouse is something that can’t be replaced.
I’ve been PC only since ’92. My last console was a SEGA genesis. I have 0 interest in playing games on consoles, ever.

I’ve personaly tried a couple times to come up with a good controler config to play GW2 with. The idea was to bounce it over to my TV via steam link to play on the couch when just being casual. However I was never able to get a layout that felt natural yet still gave me access to everything I needed. Even with as few skill slots GW2 has vs a more traditional MMO its still hard to condense all that into a controler with limited buttons along with the other required keybinds.
MMO’s just were never designed with console controlers in mind. You can try to shoehorn it in there but the tradeoffs dont seem worth it.
I personally think GW controls could work well if the PS4 touch pad was configured for certain attacks. I think it COULD work. I’m mainly asking because many of my friends would say they’d play it on consoles just because that’s what they prefer. I just wish GW could achieve what FFXIV did with cross platform playing. I like FFXIV but it’s no GW. I just wish GW had multiplatform playing between consoles for the players that can’t play on PCs.
Not everyone owns a dedicated gaming device (A console) to play video games.
Most people have laptops and smartphones. People need their laptops for work, school, productivity, creativity and entertainment.
To put simple: It is more convenient to play games on a laptop and a smartphone since these are devices many people have and thus it makes said games more accessible.
For example:
If you want to play overwatch with a friend on a PS4, your friend has to also own a PS4. If your friend does not own a PS4, but owns an XboxOne or NintendoSwitch, then you wont be able to play the same game with your friend unless you or your friend buys the other console. Keep in mind, buying a gaming device like a console in addition to the game’s price cost money and not everyone can afford to pay the price of owning multiple dedicated gaming device to play said games with certain friends.
However, since we live in a digital era, where almost everyone owns a laptop these days, if you wish to play Overwatch with a friend, all you have to do is ask them to buy and download the game and play with you. Again most people have laptops for school and work. Most people have smart phones, so making games for PC and SmartPhones means you’ll have more people who can play your games since these are platforms people use to do other things. If someone is bored, they can download a game and just play it. No additional cost is necessary. A lot of modern games, like GW2 can play and perform well without a graphics card.
Also you can play PC games on your TV with a wireless controller. It would give the same console experience. GW2 doesn’t support controller but you can play on a controller like I do using xpadder. So making a console version doesn’t add anything to the game itself. We need more content not money and time spent on making a console version.
