Yak’s Bend FO LYFE [AI] [AGI]
minipets will be the death of me
I’m not sure if it’s been talked about (I’m sure it has), but things I really loved in GW1 were guild capes and guild halls.
Backpacks are fine, and shields are great if you have the class, but capes are flashy and floaty and bright and easy to see! I miss them, and seeing different color combos and guild crests everywhere!
Guild halls were a great place to meet up and trade things, or have guild parties! I remember everyone getting together and doing emotes and giving presents, and just having a great time!
Are there any plans to include these things in GW2?
I didn’t play GW1, but I have heard a lot of people talking about how they loved these from GW1. I reckon it’d be a great idea to implement these into GW2. I know I for one, and I’m sure others would agree with me, would love the opportunity to experience these things in GW2.
It will happen once ANET starts giving a s…
I am waiting for this feature for like year and all they did is keep telling us “its planned”. Do it now ANET, we don’t want to wait. NOW! Why not? What keeps you away from that? o.O
Mordemoth is cool and everything is going great but its time to MERGE guild upgrades across servers and finally implement guild halls.
takes a drink
How’s about merge all these threads and let them sink to the bottom of the forum?
I think the designers have done a great deal to give a cape feel without having capes. You think clipping is bad now? Capes….will….be….horrible.
Kilts/waist wraps would be better. The point is they avoid the clipping you will have with Capes.
Yes, both of these topics have been mentioned many times before, but I’ll give my two cents:
Capes: I would love to be able to have capes in this game, though I don’t think ArenaNet is going to make them. The primary excuse I’ve heard is that capes would cause too many clipping issues, either with other gear or with charr tails, etc. While that may be true, it’s not like this has stopped any other games…
Guild Halls: I honestly don’t see the point. It doesn’t seem very appealing, or functional. But more than that, it gets people out of public areas and into their own private little instanced rooms. I don’t think ArenaNet wants that. They want players to see each other in cities, interacting, etc.

This should suffice regarding the capes at least.

Heck, it hasn’t stopped Anet in THIS game. A cape would clip with weapons and armor near identically to almost every backpack added to this game since release, and Season 1 of the living story was chock full of them.
Well capes made GW1 to be so uniqe and special, guilds were defined by their capes and I can’t forget the KISS cape which had plenty of members back days.
GW2 offers more objects with a guild emblem but it is not the same thing like a cape. Because the cape was a big part of your character’s look and style. I think Anet must come up with some original idea that will take place everywhere In game not only in wvwvw castles. More like cities ownership like old days.

Actually, they’ve been slowly and secretly fixing clipping issues. There’s still a lot to be done, especially with mix-n-match armor, but they’ve been working on hat and glove clipping recently.
Some examples I can think of off the top of my head:
Masks, both from HoM and Gem Store, no longer clip THROUGH your hair and instead have set portions of each hairstyle to be “in front” or “behind” the mask.
Ice Lord’s Diadem, see above.
Heavenly Bracers, no longer clips through hands — appropriately scales and centers on arms.
There are a few others, like the bone and leather helm for Mediums that is found in Orr Karma Merchants, I think. It still clips, just not as bad, iirc.
Still waiting for pants and shoe interaction, although pant and weapons/hands will be near-impossible without having custom animations for each combination.
Guild Halls are something I want. I have fond memories of chilling there with Guildies in GW1. Hosting Guild skirmishes was great as well.
Capes seem to be in direct conflict with back pieces, IMO (tho I never display mine). Don’t Guild tags ID your guild anyway? Never been a big fan of look of capes (even in GW1).

They were fun, but too shiny and had bad physics.
If you want to display your guild, there’s plenty of guild armor (some of it is unobtainable now) with the obtained pieces showing off your emblem. You even have a dinky little flag behind your back. Makes me think of the WvW loading screen where I keep imagining what the game would be like if you actually had a reason to hold a banner… or if the banner back looked more banner-y.
