Come back to guild wars original they should have a small team working on it to keep it alive i miss the pvp!

I thought gw1 was autonomous now.

The source code should be open to the community so that it can be modded. We could add jumping and new textures/models/animations. I honestly would go back.

You’re not thinking big. First you add the jumping mechanic. Then you mod in random boxes strewn across the land. Boxes that you can jump unto. And once on the box, you can jump again to jump even higher. It’s only the beginning… Reach for the staaaarrrss!

Yeah, and THEN someone will add in-town unavoidable PvP mod so that anyone can be ganked by idiotic trolls at any time.

The thing is, Guild Wars 1 is still loved and played by many.
It’s sad to see it in maintenance mode, awaiting Anet to pull the plug.

Many of us have invested hours, heck… YEARS into that game, i’ve played it for 7 years.
If they would add new content i would try it out for sure, because Guild Wars 1 stays unique, can’t really be compared to Guild Wars 2.

But yeah, modding rights should only be given to someone proven worthy.

Is there a way we can petition for them to have a small group work on gw1 again for the old school players. just like jagex made old school runescape for there players and its doing so well ! i think if alot of people advertised gw1 people will go back to it since gw2 is just not really fun..

Well, since it has taken 2 years for one of the more popular aspects of GW2 (sab) to come back round and be fixed and put into the game, I can say with confidence you have no chance whatsoever of getting a successful petition to restore a team to a whole game in GW1. It is in maintenance mode and have they have done everything they want to do with the game. It sits there as good as it ever was and will do for many years to come.

GW2 is their focus and consumes all their time and probably more.

I don’t think they’ll shut GW1 down anytime soon. Though I have no evidence, I still suspect that plenty of people continue to buy it and stuff like costumes, the Bonus Mission Pack, etc. I also think that with GW2’s current emphasis on Glint, many players who only own GW2 will become more interested in the events of the first game, and some will probably buy it to check it out.

Though I have no evidence, I still suspect that plenty of people continue to buy it and stuff like costumes, the Bonus Mission Pack, etc. I also think that with GW2’s current emphasis on Glint, many players who only own GW2 will become more interested in the events of the first game, and some will probably buy it to check it out.

the game is automated with the event schedule. A very tiny team is monitoring it and fixing some bugs if they find any (tho after more than 10 y its very little where you see patches regarding bugs). They also have a occasional ban wave that bands bots mostly.

The last time they added something new was for the 10th anniversary. They added special anniversary weapons that ,tho not with "perfect"stats, they surely had very very unique and interesting skins.
It is also available during every anniversary event.

All that being said i would still love for them to perhaps finish the BEYOND story. Heck they can even make another set of bonus mission pack i would love to play trough that as well.

Because of the nature how old the game and its community is, the majority of people playing it are playing “end game”. Adding new content like the rest of the beyond series will refresh the community and also face more different challenges with new mobs and new builds.

As for PvP…well…its all up to the community. Unless there isnt a double specific pvp reward event going on you will see most of the community playing in the zones with double reputation reward events

I can’t see them adding content onto GW1 to make up for the cost it would require to provide said content.

I don’t think a petition would achieve much. The main purpose of a petition is to show there is demand for whatever you’re asking for.

Anyone who logs in can see there’s still a lot of people playing GW1 – so the demand is self-evident. And Anet will have more accurate data than that.

On a related note, I really want to see my favorite Heroes make cameos in GW2…I mean come on, we have Revs and Chronos now, it shouldn’t be too difficult to pluck Koss, Melonni, Tahlkora, Dunkoro et al out of the Mists/past for a bit.
