Q:
Guild wars 2 Shader Medium/High
The shine looks better… Your second shot just looks uber flat. Like there’s no 3D depth on the character at all. The shine shows the folds of the clothes, the bumps and creases in your skin, and so on to add depth. I like that effect anyways.
Without that shine your character just looks flat, depth-less, and very dark.
The one thing I want a separate graphics option for is the stupid colored outlines that appear on characters near you (the auto-target crap), it shows up EVEN if you hide the UI and DESTROYS good attempts at screenshots (especially if you want a shot of you standing next to a friend, NOT POSSIBLE right now).
Well the picture really does not do it justice,as it just appears to be lighting in the picture when in actual fact it is not . i just ask that everyone go try on thier own account a see what i am talking about

Agree with the OP. While landscape generally looks better with shaders turned high I use medium shaders because of that strange bright white backlight which usually have no actual source in environment (and is always white irrespectively to the environment). To be honest, I don’t get the purpose of that backlight. It just ruins the nice picture.
Does anybody know how to turn off this backlight? I hate it. The landscape looks better with it, but I use medium shaders because character looks weird

Yeah .. the second picture simply looks like as if it was taken with much lower quality settings.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
