Q:
Guild wars 2 graphic
A:
You have to bear in mind there are a few different aspects to what a game looks like, which are somewhat independent of each other.
For a start there’s the art style. This is what makes games like Wildstar and Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) look completely different even though they’re both coming out around the same time. One is extremely stylised and cartoony and the other is aiming to be extremely realistic. GW2 is somewhere in the middle, it’s definitely not trying to be hyper-realistic but it’s also not overtly cartoony, it’s more like someones painted a picture.
A lot of this comes down to personal preference too. I happen to think a lot of games that are trying to look extremely realistic end up looking a bit boring. I actually prefer ones which use a bit more of an arty style. But then I’m also not a big fan of overly cartoony games like Wildstar or WoW.
Then there’s how demanding they make the graphics. High end graphics need expensive equipment, especially on PC (says the person who just spent £500 upgrading her PC and trying to forget that buying a PS4 wouldn’t have required an entire weekend of set-up and a week of trouble shooting) so even if the developers can make their game use the latest, most impressive graphics they might decide to reduce them in order to allow more people to play the game.
Finally there’s what your computer can run. A lot of games these days give you a range of options to adjust to what your computer is capable of (and sometimes what you want) and it can make the game look totally different. If you’re not already running GW2 on minimum settings try turning it down to that, consider that’s what some people see all the time, compare it to screenshots of new games coming out like ESO and Wildstar and it’s easy to see why they look better.

Of course it’s way better than ESO in every way.
Yup. Get a good graphics card, and there’s no more beautiful game on the market, imho. Makes me want 1st person view (like in GW1) even more.
In terms of graphics
Guild Wars 2 > Every other mmo
IMO it looks the best amongst MMOs, but still an eyecandy. Everything is so…
so… friendly and kind. I miss scary places… I miss realism… I miss bumpmapping/tesselation… I miss weathers, seasons…
But what I miss mostly is the well built maps. TESO may wins this fight for now.
I HATE cartoon graphycs.

I’d say that GWII has the best graphics in terms of quality.
But personally I prefer Wildstar’s graphics. I love high resolution cartoonish graphics. Always been a fan of crisp, vibrant colours.

GW2 looks amazing… until the eye-bleeding neon orange geometric shapes get slathered everywhere by a jungle wurm or watchwork knight…
I admit I DO need to upgrade my comp but IMO when I played FF14 (a few years back (before the re-release when it had all it’s probs) I would have to say that game had the best graphics at the time and compared to how I see GW2 right now with my current comp it still does.
I’m not sure how it looks now with the re-release but I’m sure if it looked better than here for this old comp it should for any new comp I bought as well. Well that’s my logic. :P
PS I am not saying this game looks crud, just stating it as I see/saw it.
Gw2 has the best mmorpg graphics, and it’s not a personal opinion. Everyone can compare games and see it themselves. Even archeage isn’t close to gw2 although they claim that it uses cryengine3.
For new mmos, eso is the only close one to gw2 graphics(but is still obviously worse than gw2), and wildstar is the worst looking one among new mmos.
What gw2 graphics lack is optimisation, it is impossible to get good fps even with gtx 690 or titan in WvW battles.
Frame rate is great… if you care to dump the money into a dual gtx770 or better system .. I guess I do love the game !
Kinda surprised most think GW2 graphics are the best among MMOs. I played ESO and tbh it looks more sharp and detailed. But GW2 has the better map design and a more living world. In general GW2 lacks some nice features other pc games utilize. That could be mostly because GW2 operates on an old engine and only uses DX9. Performance is also really poor compared to the graphics. I think with some work GW2 could look and perform much better.
Gw2 totally has the best graphics out of all current mmo games.
FF ARR looks better than gw2.
FF ARR looks better than gw2.
Is it a joke? There is 2 reasons why I dropped FF ARR and it is:
1) Boring gameplay
2) Awful awful graphic design. They are put more polygons in their models, but it looks like dolls with 2k textures and architecture is a box and cylinders.
Absence of details, every model is just super boring.

FF ARR has much higher res textures then gw2 has, besides it has proper support for AA and an optimized client.Liking a sort of “Design” is a matter of opinion, that has not much to do with the quality of the ingame textures.FF ARR also uses a far more advanced form of lightning/shadow and their nights actually look like..nights.They actually had to downgrade the graphics a bit to allow people with lower end systems able to play the game properly. Also, they will even add DirectX11 support later on.

I got your point, but I think it is not “design” talk, it is all about quality.
Polycount and texture resolution = canvas size, but what is important – drawing.
In your first post you said “Looks better” and I can’t agree, but yes, engine can handle much more than GW2
Well it is a core problem with GW2 that the atmosphear filters are boring, and ruining the overall graphycs. You can edit/turn it off with SweetFX, but that would effect all the areas, so meanwhile Gendarran fields looks beautiful, Iron Marches looks more crap than ever.
I believe there will be good Optimalisations soon, and later they’ll upgrade DX10/11 and hopefully the overal graphycs gets a tweak, since they seem boring/static.

Yep GW2 has best graphic so far

Yup this exactly. See I usually play on medium settings for an average FPS of about 20-40, if I’m doing dungoens, WvW or PvP I have to go down to lowest settings just to avoid any disadvantages (I usually get to about 5-10 fps in WvW on medium). So I am playing in medium settings mainly and the game looks average to good to me. Yet when I played FF14 3 years ago I didn’t have such issues and for the most part the game looked far better, usually armour wise anyways. But I do have to say the way that game handled missiles (such as arrows, spells flying though the air) I was really let down as it just didn’t happen, all you saw were hit splashes. Now it’s things like that which break immersion and can make even the best graphics games look shoddy.
