To break it down: warrior helm=second most played char is the warrior ; gears=first class was the engineer and i’ve loved it; lion head on shield= my sign is leo and also it looks awesome and as for Twilight well it’s Twilight.

The graphical style is that of loading screen and the one of the wallpapers found here:

I think you will regret it in a couple of years, and absolutely hate it in 10+ years.

20 level 80s and counting.

I’m assuming you’re pretty young and these comments apply to you if you are. If you are in your 30s or above then you can disregard.

Before you do something permanent to yourself like that you should ask yourself if you will still like it in 10 years, or 20 or 30. What if you’ve grown to dislike the game or just indifferent? What sort of job will you have in the the future? Will a tattoo of this sort match that job?

The gw2 concept art is pretty epic, I agree. But have you found an artist that can replicate that style? An idea for a tattoo is only as good as its execution. This style is full of soft shading and gradients, and wouldn’t look the same with a heavy outline. The heavy outline covers a multitude of sins, so you might want to find an artist capable of this before you get too invested in the idea.

I wouldn’t personally want a tattoo that directly references a game too strongly. I’m not sure yours does – just depends on how straightforward the symbolism is going to go.

I have a lot of tattoos, and I’ve never had an issue with my employer about that. I’ve worked in law offices and retail and medical environments. Not sure if this is common (employers not caring) or if I’ve just been lucky. I’m in my 30’s and I don’t regret a single one. I waited a long time before getting any idea inked though, and spent many hours talking to artists and looking through their portfolios before I made a decision. I strongly advise you to do the same.

I’m under the impression the OP means a tattoo sleeve (a sleeve you wear which makes it look like you have a tattoo), not a sleeved tattoo unless my understanding is wrong.

A tattoo sleeve means a tattoo that surrounds the arm. I’ve never heard the term referring to anything but a real tattoo. Is this a thing? Is there some place where you can customize your own fabric sleeves to wear? Seriously?

I’d recommend getting someone to sketch up a rough Idea of the composition, or if you can yourself, dabble in Photoshop and see how it’s all going to fit, because it’s a little difficult to see what would go where, and how, and at what size.

I’m wondering how well the painterly effect will come off through tattoo.

First of all I am 25, for the last year I have thought about getting this sleeve tattoo it’s not a decision I came up with this morning.

@ Elegy As for Symbolism i’m not sure what you meant to say, these are elements that a player could easily recognize… as for someone who doesn’t play the game don’t really care not doing it for either actually..

@ Tom Gore and llhm Real tattoo as real as it gets
@ nethykins Yea i know however the tattoo artist i want to go is on holiday for the time being as for photoshop I have no skill whatsoever

Yes, seriously.

But yeah not sure what the OP meant, but I figured he probably wasn’t going to tattoo his whole arm with GW2 art. Could be I’m wrong, of course

EDIT: Ninjaed by OP. Ahwell, it’s your arm

If you have a particular artist in mind I recommend discussing your ideas with them.

If possible bring screenshots of these things in-game, or even show him the game if you can, and discuss how you’d like it to look, what about them is particularly important to you. For example does it matter what’s on the Twilight blade? Or are you ok with it being generic shading/sky pattern as long as the handle is right.

Be aware that he might introduce some limitations. Skin is not like paper or canvas, it’s a living organ that will change over time, and it will change the tattoo as well. I have a much simpler tattoo than you’re planning and I was talked out of some of the intricate detail because it would fade and smudge. 10 years later I think that was a good move, the tattoo looks nearly as good as it did when I got it, which wouldn’t have been the case with my original idea.

I think it could definitely turn into a great sleeve once it’s in the hands of someone who could pull all the elements together well. I personally would definitely have the dragons (if not the fully detailed heads then maybe a silhouette of each) in there. Once the artist you want to go to is back in town, set up a consultation, and bring your ideas with you. I’m sure between the two of you a great tattoo will come about.

I have several tattoos, as well. I have never had any problems with my employers over the years. I think the attitude in a professional workplace is slowly changing regarding tattoos. Granted there are still many places that might not want to employ you, etc., but that isn’t nearly as common as it was several years ago. Regardless, if I had to find a new job and a business didn’t want to hire me because I have tattoos, then it isn’t the kind of business I would want to work for anyway.

I do believe the OP should truly consider if they will want the tattoo in 10 or 20 years (I am not implying OP won’t). I think too many people get tattoos on a whim and can be disappointed in what they chose to have tattooed. Having said that, too many people also try to tell you that you will regret it when that may not be the case at all. Many years back I also encountered people who told me I would regret my tattoos 5 or 10 years down the road. They were wrong. I regret none of my tattoos. They all mean something personal to me. I regret none because I carefully considered what I wanted to have permanently inked on to my body.

EDIT: I also concur with carefully choosing your tattoo artist before proceeding. I have seen some horrendous work done by shoddy artists. Look through their portfolio, talk to them at length, etc. etc.
