Over the last few weeks, we have had more and more people hitting level 80 in our guild, where as ofcourse those who do hit level 80 would like to do more stuff with their guild mates.

Problem with this is though, there’s not an awful lot of grouping content which actually requires you to be in a group, there’s dungeons, yes – but you’ll only be able to have 5 with you into this dungeon, where as not everyone wants to do the dungeon you want to do, for several reasons;

One could be that they simply hate doing dungeons
Another could be that they simply just dislike that particulary dungeon
Where the most prominent reason is probably that they really dislike the art of the armor and weapons that you’ll be able to buy for the symbols/tokens in that specific dungeon and would rather want to do another dungeon.

We’re a mid sized guild and this certainly splits us up a lot, and causes a lot of problems when actually wanting to set up events for the guild, to work together.

Ofcourse there’s WvW but again, not everyone wants to do WvW either, and I do believe this to be quite a major issue when it comes to guilds and their purposes.

At the moment there’s not any big reasons to actually be in a guild besides the bonuses guilds can give to their members – though actually getting these bonuses pretty much only requires the differen’t guild members to be online and otherwise play the game by themselfs.

As a guild leader I am REALLY trying to get several events up and running, though the lack of a guild calendar to schedule things is also lacking, which also makes it more difficult to get an organized event up and running.

In Guild Wars 1 we had Guild Battles, Hall of Heroes, and other such things we could do as a guild, alliance battles even in the Factions campaign, though, here we’re lacking quite a few things which makes it hard as a guild to actually come together and do things.

I would really like to set up a guild event to take on one of the dragons – though the nature of these events is that we can’t really trigger them as a person and will have to wait for the event to spawn, so we can’t really plan to go up against those at specific times, where as the nature of dynamic events, doesn’t really require the effort of a guilds coordination to participate either.

I do really hope we’ll get to see more content which could potentially be directed at guilds for us to participate in, so we can come together as a guild besides the dungeons, to actually participate and accomplish something together.

Just my two copper.

To be honest I have to agree with your sentiment. Guilds seems to have been somewhat ignored in favour of open ended content that anyone can join. The only problem with that is that accessible has ended up equalling easy or zergy. Which is still fun (and still something we would do) but it would be nice if we had something truly challenging.

Id like to see the current and future dungeons get a 10/20 man version as a choice for guilds. This would allow for a regular, scheduled activity that also has a high challenge level. It would reward the same dungeon tokens as the 5 man dungeon so no one would have to get a guild to get the exact same rewards and see the same content. An increase in the amount of mobs and mob stength would scale the difficulty. Bosses could have a few added attacks to make it dangerous for large groups.

Even basic features like allowing a guild to form a raid group (5+) members is not in the game. This would be useful for those times when we want to go out in the world and do stuff together. Without the group there is no way to see each other on the map or join each others overflow shards.

Between those 2 we would have a good amount of content for guilds without impacting on the people without guilds or with smaller guilds.

There are ways to make raids, though the only way is to have someone to get 100 gold and buy the Commander Field Training manual.

Though that’s still a hundred gold.

Really do like your idea however, having upscaling dungeon content would actually be really interesting. And would certainly make it a lot more flexible for both bigger guilds as well as actually giving a bigger purpose for grouping up for something within the guild. Not a bad idea at all.

Thanks.

Do the squads actually function outside WvW? I thought they were just a pvp thing. Also yeah your right guilds shouldnt be charged 100g just to be able to party up together and go experience the content as a guild.

The issue is that any PvE content with more than 5 people will become a zergfest with zero strategy or fun in which people just sit while autoattacking and waiting for their enemies to fall. I would recommend WvW, as mobilizing a large group is very advantageous there.

It would be nice to have some group activities. Its a multiplayer online game, it would be nice to have more sociable activities. Running around on your own is ok for a while, but it’s more fun with friends.

In all honesty, a group with 5 people is a lot more sociable than 30 people grouping on a monster. Being surrounded by people doesn’t make an activity more social. Many people are very lonely in real life even when living in large cities and living among an uncountable amount of people.

Exactly Eochaidh.

Too many people quickly becomes a zerg.

I think the 10/20 man dungeon could provide challenge without zerg in pve. Already in explorable 5 man you cant just zerg stuff or your dead.

Being surrounded by poeple doesnt make it more sociable but it can make it more fun. Id like to be able to do something challenging with my whole guild. Not split them into 5 man groups and send them on their way.
