Gw2 NPE vs Gw2 Original. (Anet, look at this)
Don’t expect an answer. No one knows what happened to the decision making behind Guild Wars 2’s design, and it is most likely that no one will ever know.
As far as I can tell, the game is trying to be more reward-driven. As in, everything becomes a reward. Leveling up is a reward, unlocking weapon skills is a reward, gaining new abilities is a reward… ultimately, having fun becomes a reward.
Guild Wars 2 is indeed becoming more and more like a stereotypical Korean MMORPG (which are very unsuccessful in North America, by the way). The backlash from every recent Feature Pack should be a good indicator of what’s wrong with this new direction, but it is being blatantly ignored for the most part.
You have to keep in mind that you’re not a game dev, you’re a player. Thus, you don’t know what’s fun, and what isn’t.
