Do you feel that something of what he says can be applied to Gw2?

What would you like to change of the current game?
(To know what I think of it you can look at my +1 :P)

I don’t think any of this is applicable. I’m not nagged by any gemstore pop-ups, and there isn’t any content in the game where I feel the need to rush home and get it done before it’s to late.

Well ok, there was that one time where I was pulled over while doing 90mph trying to get home to buy the new quangan backpacks.

Yes and no. Yes, they use things like highly desirable vanity skins locked behind RNG chests to get players to gamble real money for said skins. No, they didn’t design the game “just to make money”. Anyone who has played the game, or who has listened to the content developers speak about the development of Guild Wars 2, will recognize they have a passion for the game and have gone to great lengths to develop a game everyone can enjoy.

In my opinion there are a lot of people who log in just to do their dailies and then quit, at least as much people who just play the way they want but (sometimes) worrying about being left behind by more “dedicated” players.

I feel like they have introduced in the game a system to make people want to play more, and more often people spend their time on the game , more money it could be possible they invest in it.

This can be a good move if what they add is just FUN, but I think that is more something like just repetitive without a real goal. Especially if many players are encouraged to play for better stats (not skins). A player can’t be much creative (lack of builds + high time to obtain different stats), can’t really do what he want because there is always something to “work” for, maybe it’s the difference between a theme park and a sandbox (?)
I deeply hope anet can marge those two styles.

p.s. i.e. imo guild missions can be considered a good move but they have restricted their target too much and living story is a cool idea.

Yes its here in Guildwars 2, a little more subtle, but its here, look at the amount of RNG this game runs, dailies, monthlies etc, compared to it predecessor..

But people are so complicit, they continue to pony up money to RNG (even i have sadly, a little) we all help destroy the game a little more each time, to a certain extent..

I’m not sure, short of everyone stopping playing, what we can do to stem this trash being added..we either play and live with evil companies or stop, i guess..
