Gw2 coming on Wiiu?
lol this will never be happening.
1.) Wii sucks and will never run GW2
2.) Certification of patches would delay content releases
3.) Spending immense resources on coding for Wii when the potential playerbase is small
And there are half a dozen more reasons why.
and if you didn’t know, you could easily build a computer that runs GW2 at around $400. I certainly hope you are not one of those consumers that buys the ready-made gaming PC’s at 60% mark-up from bestbuy. PC building is easy.
wii u cpu is way too slow.
dynasty warrior creators already have problem porting to wii u
Hyrule Warriors will suit my Wii U needs just fine.
I’m sorry, but the Wii U? Of all the consoles on the market, that is the one you would like GW2 on… I’m trying to be the least rude as possible here, but I did chuckle a little.
Anyhow, Vol is certainly right. ANY console version of GW2 would cause problems, we see this going on with many other mmos right now. Certification, console limitations. The entire engine would need reworked. As a longtime FFXI player, I still shudder at the phrase “PS2 Limitations”.

It made FF14 a huge turnoff for some of my friends. Combat in that is like friggin’ molasses compared to GW2. Very pretty, pretty molasses.
But 2.5 second cooldowns for every action ever, even instants was killing me.
GW2 is too active for consoles.
Then again, fighting games are also online, so.. maybe? Eh.

I can’t see it ever happening. Early on they talked about looking into making a console version but it was dropped fairly quickly.
Things like needing a keyboard are the easy problems to solve. (Especially on the WiiU where you could put a virtual keyboard, or even a keypad type set-up on the controllers touch screen.)
Voice chat would be harder because currently GW2 has no built in voice chat, everyone uses 3rd party programs. I don’t know if the WiiU has voice chat which can run at the same time as the games, but if it does you would probably still be restricted to only speaking to other people playing on the WiiU since it’s unlikely to be cross-compatible with Team Speak, Mumble, Vent etc.
The bigger problems are things like the console manufacturers charging developers for every update their game gets and restricting how often, when and what size those updates can be.
And also having to make sure all the updates are compatible with the hardware. That’s not such an issue with single-player games but MMOs can have a lifespan equal to a console, or even longer (Ultima Online for example came out around the same time as the N64 and is still going today) and sooner or later they need the flexibility to upgrade, and to assume their users can upgrade too.

Considering the OP originally put the amount in ‘kd’ and then converted it to dollars I’m guessing they’re not in the States (or Europe). I don’t know what currency kd is short for but I do know that in a lot of the world building a custom PC is very expensive because all the parts have to be imported and a combination of shipping fees and currency conversions drives the price up a lot.

i wasnt focusing on “wiiU” cuz ps4 is the best graphic card that it has now, and the best ongoing console, so there is still possiblty to play Gw2 on a console you smarty, also the limit of Graphic is 8000k HD now tell me how “impossible” ps4 can run that game, Plus if ykno destiny, It’s just like Gw2 and yes you can choose your skills, guns ~ now think of at it as gw? Swords, Pistol, Rifles, Whatever , Gw2 have to change it style onl in which case u can play with the other style guys on PC You absolutely make no sense to me… now let’s call Destiny an MMO game

All snarking aside, I don’t think the hardware could handle it, nor do I think Nintendo would go for it.
Besides, there’s another system which is begging for attention – Mac OSX. Yes, Virginia, there are Mac gamers.

When did we talk about wii now? , and wiiu also updates like every 3-5days on miiverse , plus if theres an update , then all u hv to do is insert the disc, it’ll ask u for update, press Yes , continue… Like ps4 i kno some games on ps3-4 does that too anyways, what ru talking about?

It is worth the time to play a multiplayer game on a TV , Destiny also has updating world, such as events and quest, also the story mode is never offline, the whole game works online and full HD all the time, If Anet were to make a game on ps4-WiiU , They’ll win alot of money especially when it comes to PS4, again you yurself said it never impossible, Hey Destiny got PvP’s too! , then NCSoft will start making new gen games for consoles, every problem solve ~ is another reveal ;D

Guild Wars 2 is not coming to Wii U. However rest assured, with the current direction of the game, Guild Wars 3 (if it happens) will be most likely available on 3DS/Wii U 2/PS Vita 2 and other popular consoles, perhaps even playable in web browser – implemented in Facebook.
Who knows.

nah, WiiU with it new engine, i think you have no idea, and that just the start for nintendo, Wii is number 1 WiiU2 ? 3 ?4 yeah they just havent started yet, only making crap games on thier console, Also the problem would be fixed if ur talking about a 20player fight , then why does “call of duty” have a match game containing 16+ player

No, the WiiU isnt able to render that much.
Dont act like its possible when it isnt.
The WiiU has only 2GB Memory. 1GB is is for the operating system
wich means you have only 1GB left for the game itself.
The minimum system requirements for GuildWars2 is atleast 2GB.
So you missing 1GB already.
And we are not even talking about the rest of it.
The list goes on, trust me.
Its not going to work man.
There will be no GuildWars2 on a console.

Besides that, 25 GB available memory will hardly be enough in about a year, the gw2.dat is already at 20 GB (or 22 GiB if you use the 1k = 1000 instead of 1k = 1024).

PS4 does good to even run its games in full 1080p.
I just built a PC with specs that are slightly better than what your so called “Next Gen”
consoles are built with and I can say that in a strictly PvE environment it might be “Possible” but even that’s doubtful considering on a dedicated GFX card the 750 GTX that’s been proven to push better frame rates than the PS4 and Xbox One on multi-platform games, still struggles to push more than 30 FPS at 1080p. In a full on blob vs blob fight in WvW it drops to 10 FPS. That’s not something that you can push off as playable on a console game. People wouldn’t buy it, so you’d have to cut down player count by allot.
That’s just considering the performance implications, and not all the other problems that are going to be brought about porting an mmo to a console. In the grand scheme of things, it just isn’t going to happen and that’s probably for the best seeing how there’s not been a single MMO on console that’s had even a decent existence.
By raw numbers… Wii U ‘could’ squeak into minimum graphics on GW2 but raw numbers aren’t the entire story when you’re talking about playing games.
The Wii U reserves 1 GB of memory for the OS (a sad fact about a lot of console OS’s) when a PC uses 1-5 % of the 2 GB for its OS (10-50 MB of ram, insignificant to 2000 MB the game says it needs). Already the Wii U OS is reducing the 2 in the Wii U to 1 in reality.
Wii U processor is a 1.24 Ghz tri-core (roughly 3.72 Ghz total), GW2 requires a 2.0 Ghz dual core (roughly 4.0 Ghz total) so the processor isn’t up to snuff to actually handle it either (yes I know that multiple cores don’t actually double the power, there’s usually a little lost between one and the other).
About the only thing in the Wii U that could handle GW2, surprisingly, is its graphics card. 550 Mhz when the required minimum (according to lowest speed I could find on the suggested GeForce 7800) is 400 Mhz.
Saddly, the Wii U is held in a choke hold by its processor and memory. Graphics cards do not make a computer. Even if they’d put a Titan in the Wii U it wouldn’t handle GW2 because of its processor and RAM.
PS.
The 25 GB you’re quoting is the Wii U’s disc space not memory. Completely separate. GW2 (installation) requires 25 GB (yes I know consoles play off the disk not the hard drive but that would only further restrict the games capabilities by forcing such a large amount of information to be read by the Wii U’s DVD drive).

You and your long story , you aint giving any solution, and you could never understand, Gw2 CAN reduce the resolution and other stuff which is related to render, to make it play-able, such as Blobs can be limited on the console, but on the pc is the same, that could be another problem solve, did u kno that the limit of HD for ps4 is? 8000k for your knowledge, but that just the limit so 7000k-1000k P is good and normal, why ru laughing when theres nothing funny at the subject , the idea is to share ideas not more problems, and yet Gw2 hasnt started anything for the consoles were talking about, they cud lower the specs a bit or maybe they have more ideas then us, so dont think im against them, or YOU

And yes i know wht 25gb was for, i was just mistaken
GW2 will probably never come to consoles, and if it does, it sure won’t be the Wii U. I don’t mean to come off rude, but the Wii U isn’t powerful enough to handle GW2, and regular consoles don’t have enough buttons.
Imagine prime time in WvW.
Eternal Battlegrounds. 3 massive blobs fighting eachother in SM.
A WiiU isnt able to render stuff like that.
WiiU’s graphics are comparable with PS3, xbox360, wich is crap.
A console is a console. There is a reason why people play games on a PC.nah, WiiU with it new engine, i think you have no idea, and that just the start for nintendo, Wii is number 1 WiiU2 ? 3 ?4 yeah they just havent started yet, only making crap games on thier console, Also the problem would be fixed if ur talking about a 20player fight , then why does “call of duty” have a match game containing 16+ player
Im not talking about a 20man fight.
I was talking about 3 blobs.
Thats like over 200 people fighting eachother.
A WiiU cant render that kind of stuff. And why are you talking about Call Of Duty? xD
Yes wiiu still able to render that much, and Anet can make limitation for only 40player at the same much console version if that wt bothering u, after all Anet looks for money not for peoples fun anyways
The list goes on, trust me.Its not going to work man.
There will be no GuildWars2 on a console.
Arenanet is not going to fix a special GuildWars2 WiiU edition with keyboard and stuff like you wish.
Get over it man seriously.wow you look realistic, man dont even tell me ps4 cant render that much, and im not acting, im serious on it
PS4 does good to even run its games in full 1080p.
I consider Destinty as an MMO game, cuz i think it fairly close to gw2 at the gaming – AT the gaming- such as picking items, and updating event , dungeons , leveling , skills, weopons , armor, inventory, but the extension is that you hav a ghost with u , Now, what was your question again? – altho i was comparing each game, Destiny has higher resulotion ofc
Anet can’t even release an expansion, don’t count on a console port

I heard that theyre only started with wii and wiiu would be wiiu2 or whatever , then it’ll be even better then ps4
That’s not such an issue with single-player games but MMOs can have a lifespan equal to a console, or even longer (Ultima Online for example came out around the same time as the N64 and is still going today) and sooner or later they need the flexibility to upgrade, and to assume their users can upgrade too.
and if you didn’t know, you could easily build a computer that runs GW2 at around $400. I certainly hope you are not one of those consumers that buys the ready-made gaming PC’s at 60% mark-up from bestbuy. PC building is easy.
Considering the OP originally put the amount in ‘kd’ and then converted it to dollars I’m guessing they’re not in the States (or Europe). I don’t know what currency kd is short for but I do know that in a lot of the world building a custom PC is very expensive because all the parts have to be imported and a combination of shipping fees and currency conversions drives the price up a lot.
you shud kno by now that theres nothing impossible
I didn’t say it was impossible. I was listing some of the reasons it wouldn’t be worth the time and effort required for Arenanet to do it.
It is worth the time to play a multiplayer game on a TV , Destiny also has updating world, such as events and quest, also the story mode is never offline, the whole game works online and full HD all the time, If Anet were to make a game on ps4-WiiU , They’ll win alot of money especially when it comes to PS4, again you yurself said it never impossible, Hey Destiny got PvP’s too! , then NCSoft will start making new gen games for consoles, every problem solve ~ is another reveal ;D
regardless of console, Anet needs to pay the console owners to release their game on them, they also need to pay every month for access trough their server base.
Anet will only lose money from releasing games on consoles, let alone the amount of work that is behind making GW2 console compatible and the loss of features you have to deal with.
destiny was developed with the console in mind, GW2 has always bin made with all the control a PC can give.
OP, you have to understand a few things.
There are plenty of reason why gw2 is not going on the wii u.
Business reasons – Consoles are practically a walled garden. Even if Anet manages to negotiate a deal that allow pc plays with wii u players. Nintendo will take 30% from all purchases. Which means, Anet will lose 30% of all profit from the gem store and game sales. For the same reason, Guild wars 2 will probably never end up on the mac store either. Dont get me started on the patching issue
Technical reasons: Wii u cpu is just too dawm slow. Dynasty warrior already complaining that the cpu barely compares to the ps3 and xbox 360. I find this is a huge issue, GW2 has a much larger scope than any of the dynasty warrior franchise. GW2 combat is both much more complex and there are much more players in any given time to even consider porting GW2 to the WII U.
Take a look at final fantasy realm reborn. I believe they added a 2.5 cd global cd and global condition tick due to PS3 limitations. They problem made dozens of other sacrifices to make it run on a console.
As much as I want to say, porting to the wii u is an instant non starter. There is a much better chance for this game to be ported on a Xbox one and PS4 since these console have enough processing power to run the game. However, there are business reasons preventing any company from release it on the console.
No no no…
GW2 would be better with the XBone.
…am I really the only one here who is entertaining the possibility that OP might simply be making commentary on the game’s current focus and direction? I’m surprised to be the first one saying this in this thread…

No, I’m afraid he’s quite sincere.
So then…what is your idea? You said it wont work on wiiu because they might lose alot of money, and nore xone nore ps4 for some other reasons, then there must be always another way?

It not just losing a lot of money.
All three companies have these validate patches. I list that as a con which delay patches for weeks to months. It will take plenty of negotiating to fix these issues.
No Wii U for real technical reasons
Xbox one and PS4 – no for business reasons. GW2 could run on these machines but there are other anet will have to negotiate different terms with these companies.
