My friend is looking to play this game but he only speaks french. If he goes to a server like Jade sea would he mostly be talking with french people or is it mostly english?

Here is a list of the designated French servers:

French (FR)

Arborstone
Augury Rock
Fort Ranik
Jade Sea
Vizunah Square

Supposedly by choosing the correct language (french in his case), it should increase the odds of him ending up on a map with other french speaking players.

Make sure you’re both in the same region if you want to play together. If you’re in NA and your friend chose EU to be on one of the FR servers, You won’t be able to play together.

You won’t miss anything by not reading map chat, to be honest. But yeah, there’s a good probability he’ll end up with french players, at least on less populated maps.

Also joining a guild with French speaking members will increase the odds of getting to megaserver where there are French speakers. There will still be people who speak other languages there too. (Also, Sept. 9th feature pack intends to improve this.)
