Gw2 is destroying my right mouse button..
Overuse is ruining your mouse. Don’t blame this on Guild Wars 2.
I’ve clocked thousands of hours with the same mouse and it’s still working perfectly. Maybe it’s your mouse that’s the issue. Also, I don’t get how having all your skills mapped to your extra mouse buttons has anything to do with the health of your right mouse button.
Sounds like you are pretty rough on your mice.
Is it really necessary to constantly move your camera?
Obviously, you need to sometimes, but constantly?
You can turn the camera with either mouse button. You’re not using your mouse correctly. Don’t use it like a controller.

It is, actually. Being aware of your surroundings is not only necessary competitively, it’s also quite freeing and immersive for exploration.
My Naga is fine, despite somewhere between 2-3K hours in GW2 and also in other games. Where did you get your mouse? Do you clean it from time to time? Are you using excessive pressure?
I have all my weapon skills on my mouse
Use a keyboard.
Sounds like either user error or you just buying bad mice OP.

Yesterday I faced another attack on my Left Mouse button!
To craft the Hylek-weapon collection you need 1425 sun beads.
75 per weapon and they have absolutely no other sense in the game.
Neverthenless the karma-merchant sells them only one by one.
So I really wonder what drove the designer to make it the way it is.
75 buy clicks per weapon 1425 buy-clicks for the collection.
If it is used only in stacks of 75, why isn’t it sold in stacks of 75?
Some elements of the game are really anoying mouse-killing. Hard to see any other reason than sponsoring of mouse producers in them.

I can confirm this, my Logitech g700 right click is dead. Its crap mouse anyway.
I’m actually on my second mouse thanks to GW2, but all it did was expose a flaw in my mouse (and many others). I use the Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball, partly because I grew up using trackballs, and partly because I have moderate Essential Tremors and I can’t produce accurate fine movement with a traditional mouse due to wrist tremoring. It turns out a production choice on this mouse causes it to wear quickly – the contact pad, the piece of plastic connected to the buttons that actually contacts the actual switch that causes the mouse clicks, is made of a softer plastic than the switch, causing each click to dig in to the pad, creating a gap. When the gap gets wide enough, the pad eventually cannot make contact with the switch and thus cannot click. This is likely what’s happening with your mouse.
Turns out the plastic stock used for the contact pad is common, even in “high quality” mice, and the damage is actually easily fixed. If you’ve never done this before, only attempt this if you’ve already bought a replacement and can play with the “dead” mouse:
1) Open up the mouse. If you’ve never opened a mouse, be aware that there is usually an anchor screw hidden under the brand/model/serial number sticker often found on the underside of the mouse.
2) Pull the top shell off and examine the underside of the button giving an issue. You should see that the arched button has a “floating” pad of plastic, and that pad will likely have a vissible groove in it where contact with the switch has dug away at the plastic.
3) Grab some crazy glue / super glue. Rubber cement works better and will last longer, but is much harder to apply properly for this use.
4) Paint the pad with crazy glue so that it fills in the groove, then let it sit to dry. This fills in the contact area, and provides a slightly larger, non-abrasive surface that will last longer under wear. Rubber cement lasts longer and will wear down the switch less, but is much harder to get to leave a thin coat. Too thick of a coat can cause the switch to be constantly clicked, making it worthless.
5) Reassemble the mouse and try it out!
Two things:
1. Some Logitech mice (like the G500) have a bad habit of developing a “double click” issue. For some people it’s static electricity related and you have to put something over the micro-circuit. Otherwise, open up your mouse and see if the plastic contact for the clicker has a little clicker shaped indention in it. Put some clear tape over it for a temporary fix or coat it in an epoxy for a more permanent fix. Or you can contact Logitech, they tend to be pretty cool about sending replacements from what I hear.
2. I think the OP, without saying it, is suggesting they look into adding a different way to control mouse look (such as a toggle, center screen reticule, anything.) I’d have no problem with that. Not sure if I’d use it, but it would be great to see.
I wish Anet would have implemented an official version of the “alternate” control scheme:
Moving your mouse moves the camera, targetting AoE acts as if the mouse is always in the dead center (ie up/down increase/reduce distance) and left mouse button is key 1. A small crosshair was available to use so you always knew where the center was and where you aimed your ground targetting skills.
It was quite awesome to play with, but it was a third party script so Anet didnt like it any more than they like the mere mentioning of rebinding left mouse key to keyboard button x in order to save thousands of clicks on pointless tasks.
you can always keyboard turn
Had some issues with the right button of my $3 logitech when it was 1y-old. Gave it some kicks and slaps, and it’s working properly ever since. (that was 2 years ago)

Yours is fine, mine had a button snap off that I had to open and fix with glue and ductape, lol. It worked at least.
Like the title says…..its ruining my mouse! I have all my weapon skills on my mouse, and the right click button is starting to go….I already ruined one mouse because of this game because I constantly hold the right click down to move the camera….
Anyone else have this issue?
Well it is not GW2 ruining your mouse button. The game doesn’t press buttons you know…
So be more gentle, I have had ~7 mouses in the last ~25 years 4 of which died, 2 are fun ctional but parked, and my gaming mouse has seen some wear and tear but is still good. after 6k hours of playing, but I tend to use the buttons for dodge and camera control.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
Don’t bother OP fanbois will come up with most ridiculous solutions for a problem that should be no brainer.
1. Use keyboard to turn
2. Zoom in and out with your tongue
3. Use your ears to turn left and right
4. You’re generally doing something wrong definitely
5. It’s how it’s meant to be, didn’t you get the memo?
Anything but fix the kitten problem. I’m into my second mouse because of GW2 as well. Not only that but I’m also getting cramps in my middle finger. Can’t wait till it gets permanently stuck into that indecent position so I can show it to Anet.
I got my Logitech G500 in 2011, still working fine. I did have to fix a double clicking issue, but there’s plenty of tutorials for that.
Like most people are saying in this thread: Either invest in a better mouse or if you already have, learn to be a bit more sensitive with your equipment.
Setup a toggle, so that once you rclick once, the computer thinks you’re holding it down until you press it again. Or, possibly you’re too rough on the mouse (or, since you didn’t say, using a mouse with a record/reputation for not being robust or long lived?).
I actually think the LClick is in the most danger. You can setup, say, the scrollwheel do LClick, but many don’t, and clicking through all those stacks of items/luck will contribute significantly to a keen GW2 players mouse LClick life expectancy being exhausted.
*edited because “h ard” is somehow in the kitten filter???

Haha, yes, that’ll be it.
It sounds like you have a Razer mouse. Never buy a Razer mouse.
Sollution: buy a Steelseries mouse, there is even one with a GW2 artwork.
I would recommend getting a cat.
They are pros when it comes to handling mice.
It’s stupid and definitely the worst thing about GW2.
I hate holding right click to turn the camera. Ridiculous archaic system I hope is eliminated in GW3. Also the only reason I have been tempted to switch over to ESO, if it wasn’t for their game world being bland and uninteresting…
Maybe try an autohotkey script for toggling right click (among other useful features that will save you a lot of discomfort/finger strain/broken mice).
Steel series mouse, mousepad, and headset. ~$200
Logitech keyboard. ~$75
3000hrs guildwars2 and thousands of hours across numerous games spanning 7 years. ~ Priceless

Indeed the clicking in this game is too excessive and makes me think theyre sponsoring mouse producers with it.
Clickwars 2, killer of mice.
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
Are you always clicking every time you need to -move- your camera? Because you really should just be always holding the button down.

This makes jumping puzzles infinitely more difficult. Reflexes aren’t the same in wvw either.
I’d like to see something implemented in gw2 where we have no need to hold down the right mouse button. I pretty much have mine taped down all the time anyway. I haven’t had issues with any of my mice being overused, but this would really help. Tera and ESO both have a system like this, and it’s fantastic.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
I have a Razer Naga mouse and prior to that the Deathadder. Been using the DA for couple years; massive gamer.. Many hour spent playing and it’s totally fine. Same with the Naga. Works like a charm.
If clicking through stacks or purchasing things that only sell 1 at a time then I suggest you key bind your mouse wheel to equal a left click. You won’t be able to zoom out or in during the time you’re using it but temporarily it helps immensely with blasting through stacks of things to open or buying stuff/selling junk at merchants and will put less pressure on your fingers and mouse buttons.
