Gw2's Expansion (possibly)

At the moment, we know that the game’s developers are not looking to release a major expansion, focusing instead on more immediate content releases on a short schedule to make the game as good as it can be.
Now they may expand into new maps using the living story as a mechanism but it seems they are not going to have an expansion players can buy.

I reply with this, that section of the map doesnt exist at all. the previous living stories all were part of the map that was able to be unlocked where as the maguuma jungle and magus falls where the new dragon may have awoken isnt even physicaly there. That being said, anet would not say if there was a expansion in the works even if asked, especialy given the game was still new at that point and expansions take a long time to even get into the pre-alpha stage. so they would not give others hope on a project that may well be scrapped and pushed back.

It wouldn’t make sense to release the game in china to then release an expansion within the next months.

Are you talking about an expansion, an increase in game content that the players have to pay for, or the game expanding into new maps ?
That quote said no expansions, which means no new paid for increases in content. If you mean something besides the standard defintion then you should define what you mean in your original post.
I think it’s likely the game will expand into new maps but they have repeatedly said they aren’t going to have expansions.
well now thats gw2 has been released in china they may have time to work on an expansion.

That is also another good point, look at the next patch. it is a re-roll of old content. why would they be doing this? it is a easy way of keeping people busy as they work on a new expansion.
NcSoft stated that they will talk about an expansion later on. Currently Arenanet is focused on the release in China and the time after it. In NA/EU the main focus is the live service (could mean LW 2and even more). If everything is completed they will talk about an expansion.
Do not expect an expansion with costs in the near or medium future. China will dictate the launch time. The promotion in China was pay once a play free afterwards. Now you cannot announce an expansion with costs a short time after launch or the players would blame KongZhong to be a big liar. Expansions without costs are the only way now. In 12 months would be a good time to launch something with costs.

Don’t the Chinese have a possiblity of buying a premium account/sub fee?

They have the possibility but not the obligation to opt for the title system.
