“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
(edited by Swish.2463)
I know that when it comes to the forums we’re not shot on wants or demands, but more often than not when Anet asks everyone “Do you want to pick what we talk about or let us pick the subject?” its almost an unanimous “You guys pick!”
So, I as a fellow Player want to ask all of you, not what you want for the next CDI but instead. If you all had to select and vote for just 1 thing to appear in the Next “Feature” patch, What would it be?
Consider this more for fun But I’ll actually be taking votes and tallying everything up, maybe even start a second round if there is no clear winner!
Remember, 1. not 2, just 1. 3 is also out, only pick 1 thing. the ONE thing you want the MOST.
…
again, only 1, One, Uno, Un, etc.. etc.. …. ONE
But feel free to explain why and discuss it at the same time
Update – 26-Sep – 2014
I left this question a bit open ended on purpose, mostly because I was not looking for a Tally on individual Ideas but rather to sort your wishes into more general catagories.
Content : Dungeons, Maps, Jumping Puzzles, etc.. things to explore.
Quality : Bug Fixes, System Redo’s (un-redo’s), System/Back end improvements.
Customization : Skins, Skills, Weapons, etc.. things that add options and depth to character creation and play.
Those who voted for multiple things, I picked only the first thing that you posted as I will assume that’s the one thing you sprang to first and would appreciate the most.
Those that posted for Expansion had to be double counted under Content and Customization, expansions do not guarantee bug fixes or core system revamping so no tally was added to Quality.

Free PvP – 1 vote (I wanted to include this up here because it’s actually a pretty impressive idea to get more competitive players and it’s not a bad way to get new players to purchase the rest of the game)

A coyote pet for rangers in Dry Top
new jumping puzzles and more profession skills
Sailing up as my #1 thing In the next feature patch has to be the returm of the feet, preferably with a whole day of hyping under the title FEETURE!
I’ll throw in my own vote before I leave for bed.
I would like Sub Classes to be the Next Feature Patch.
More so, the addition of Classes inside of the current classes to generate more depth to builds and play style options.
New profession and Racial skills.
Removed cost on transmutation, making them like Dyes in terms of changing your look.
Reasons: Cause I want to utilize the massive wardrobe system all the time, not “every so often when I have the charges to pick an outfit on a level 80 character, whose gear won’t be changing any time soon.”
Yeah, I know they got the charges in the Gem Store and all. It’s a wish.
Before anything else happens, they need to fix the trait system.
The reason people are starting to say that anet should pick discussion topics is because they’re not willing to disclose what they’re working on, so if they’re choosing to talk about something, it’s at least a little more likely that it’s an area of interest for the development team.
Dungeons overhaul. (E.g., Hard Mode, solo, small raid, big raid, new dungeons, better rewards, safer kick system, etc.)
I’d like to do dungeons, I just don’t like to do them currently. With some more options and safety against just being kicked and having your dungeon stolen by two guys, I’d be far more interested in doing them.
New zones. Preferably with new jumping puzzles in them…or just puzzles.
Definitely a solid GvG.
Another vote for, before anything else, fix traits.
A long and well earned vacation in Hawaii for not just the senior managers but all the devs.
“Any intuitive change to a complex system will inevitably leave that system worse off.”
One word: fun.
I know it’s not going to happen.
-Goes back to the other game, now that maintenance is over.
Sorry for the flippant answer. Feedback given directly to the devs, through their own channels, has almost universally been ignored. (And I don’t mean through these boards).
And herein lies the problem. This is what Anet is dealing with all the time. Here’s our consensus thus far. With 18 responses, only two items got more than one vote and those 2 items only got 2 each.
More profession/racial skills. 2 votes.
Fix the trait system. 2 votes
The rest got 1 each.

Admittedly some of these are said flippantly but the real answer is this community is deeply divided and no matter what Anet does, one group or another is going to feel disenfranchised.

More Prof’s.
All from GW. I’m not gonna bother to do the whole argument on why they kittened it up by taking it out, but it’s there. Instead of adding onto the first game, they removed. For no good reason.
As for my vote: Make PVP side of the game FREE. Let the masses in. Let them add gemstore items for PVP only players. Since that is the only way they operate anymore, gem store and gem store sales.
IQ test for people who want to post something on forums and log into game.

Basic political skills problem, a lot like getting a bill through Congress. Well, the Congress of a generation ago that could still compromise and get things done. The bill has something for everyone, it’s a package, and since everyone thinks they’re getting at least something there is a reasonable level of satisfaction.
But put a bill out there which benefits only one narrow segment, and watch everyone else pile on objecting.
Basic political skill.
Oh, and my real vote is for a traditional MMO expansion.

Actually from that list, putting fun on the list is 100% incorrect, since you can’t prove more people don’t find Guild Wars 2 fun than Guild Wars 1. I actually find Guild Wars 2 more fun. So unless you have evidence that more people found Guild Wars 1 fun, it’s a red herring.
More professions, sure, but it had less races. We’re only two professions short of the total that Guild Wars 1 ever had. But we have five times the number of races and some people do like the idea of playing different races. I’d say they’re even on that score.
Both games had conditions. People aren’t saying they want them. They want them to be done differently. But because Guild Wars 1 was an instanced game and Guild Wars 2 is not an instanced game and you can have 100 players all doing conditions at once, something had to be done. It wasn’t done better in Guild Wars 1, it was a different genre of game. I’m pretty sure more people would rather give up condition damage than the open world.
And then there are the things in Guild Wars 2 that weren’t in Guild Wars 1 and if you asked the question on a Guild Wars 1 forum you might well get answers like:
jumping
swimming
marketplace
guild missions
So you see, I don’t really quite see the relevance of your post. It’s a very least an incomplete experiment.
well in my case (something i’d like to see)
obtainable Animations.
for example learn to dodge like the monkey king (backflip), different types of dodge rolls, skill animations and so on.
And herein lies the problem. This is what Anet is dealing with all the time. Here’s our consensus thus far. With 18 responses, only two items got more than one vote and those 2 items only got 2 each.
18 responses is a large pool of voices representing the playerbase, I agree. Anyways, I’d be perfectly happy with more Jumping Puzzles. Customizable UI. Dueling. Mostly anything else that has been suggested. Besides the feet one, which I didn’t quite understand (Oh, FEETURE, ohoho.. clever), none of these suggestions would be stuff I’d be unhappy with. I wouldn’t even mind mounts. I don’t see their purpose with all the Waypoints available, but I won’t take negatively to their addition, should that happen.
Saying the community is divided simply because it doesn’t state the same exact thing is in my opinion shortsighted. I’m sure you can look at that list and see things you’d be perfectly happy with as well, even if it’s not what you wrote yourself.
Since this was also (to my understanding) a Feature Patch suggestion, I don’t see a single pet added to the Ranger profession or removal of transmutation costs being more than a tiny part of it. Fun can be anything, that’s a suggestion that needs to be clarified, or it’d be like asking for something to eat and rejecting everything you get until you get that one dish you wanted.

While this is true, it’s more an issue with limiting people to one vote, and having a system that is fairly flippant. It also ignores the developer resources. Making trait unlocks account bound, or turning on SAB, would make a lot of people happy with little effort. Creating mounts would take a lot of effort and make a lot of people unhappy.
Looking at this forum’s front page, the highest posted thread is traits, and the second is Cantha, both by a LONG way. Now obviously I’m pretty heavily in the “fix traits” camp, but it seems fairly obvious looking at that which issues people care about, and how much development is required to provide it.
While I agree that ANet can’t keep everyone happy, I think the community has enough of a unified voice that it is possible to identify things that they should be doing, but aren’t.
The whole question in itself has no sense, because a Feature Pack doesn’t get made to implement just only 1 new thing.
A Feature Pack consist of multiple new things, small to medium to big of size.
So this thread would make only sense, if everyone would say AT LEAST their TOP FIVE things, they would like to see getting implemented.
Thus being said, the personel top 5 list of things that I would like to see with the next Feature Patch are these things:
1) Sub Classes
2) WvW Achievement Redesign
3) Adding Fishing and Digging as new Gathering Jobs, because an Angling Rod and a Shovel do already exist in the game for this.
4) Giving us finally Jeweler and Chef 500 together with Ascended Runes/Sigils/Gems/Food/Potions
5) Split up the Trait System into Traits, Talents and Expertises for a more depthful Character Progression, including a complete Redesign of the Underwater Content, lettign has have for Underwater Combat also completely own seperate Traits, Talents and Exspertises.
That would be my personel Top 5 Changes that I’d like to see with the next Fp, about which I know, that they would have a great impact on the game to improve it significantly, which are Features based on already existing content in the game which needs to get polished more.
all weapons for all professions
all weapons for all professions
will never happen, this would totally screw up the whole game balance.
If you want this, I suggest you to go play again GW1, if you want total balance chaos, thats where you get this.
would totally screw up the whole game balance.
game balance.
Excuse me. What?
Warrior longbow. Mesmer Staff/GS. Compare their aoe dmg (against 5 enemies killing your phantasms without any effort).
Which one was supposed to be the good ranged dps?
sexy Underwear
because its sexy
I feel like I’m one of the few people who are actually content with the status of GW2 as it is. Any changes I’d ask for isn’t big or game changing.
My only gripe is the extent of the NPE additions. Add bundle items back to low level areas and I’ll be content. ._.
Dueling flying mounts in guild housing that spawns precursors dropping from the super adventure box introduced in the expansion’s new (complete) map (which may or may not be Cantha) featuring four new dungeons and a ‘hardcore’ mode for the current dungeons while the developers focus on PvE that is not living story.
OR
Fixes before features.
Rewards….less focus on gold and more on item rewards so I dont have to play other games to feel properly rewarded
less rewards. More challenges.
Instant gratification and sense of entitlement is what’s making MMORPG’s cater to the lowest common denominator.

And there’s no game developer in the world that can do all of this at the same time, so people will continue to feel disenfranchised.
People probably won’t feel disenfranchised by this though. The idea of this thread was to post only the thing you wanted most, right? This limits people to only choosing one of the things they want to be added to the game, that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t want some or most of these other things as well. I know I would be thrilled about all the things on that list, even the coyote pet for ranger even though I do not play the class that often.
It’s also okay for the devs to take their time adding features, if everything was added at once where would the fun be in that? There would be nothing left to look forward to. MMOs are meant to grow and evolve, and yes sometimes they end up getting new features that make the game feel different than it did before, but is that always a bad thing? Many things on this list will not effect core gameplay and likely wont make an impact on those who don’t want them. The only problem I can see might be sub-classes, as that would require a lot of balancing and would likely drastically alter the combat system.
I want new skills and weapons for professions but will I get mad if a new race is introduced before? Heck no, I’d immediately start coming up with names for a new character.
Dungeons with interesting mechanics with the possibility to complete said dungeon with 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 people.
Interesting mechanics that are difficult and independent from what the part consists of.
Very basic example: Someone has to bring orbs to a machine in order to destroy it. The problem is that the machine is shooting homing projectiles at you. To avoid them, someone else must pick up a “shield” item that put’s a protactive shield around one player. The player can then walk into the homing projectiles to neutralise them.
Basically, one guy is defenseless when carryin the “attack item” (the orb) and the others have to defend the defenseless with a “defense item” (the shield).
Another example:
A grid of 5*10 platforms. 1 player has to get across to the other side, the others have to shoot rocks or some other objects to prevent them from landing on the runner (the one who get’s across) or destroying the platform.
I can go on all day with different mechanics
This is quite a toughie, but I would be very happy with Prestige Classes.
Complete the megaserver implementation (rather than paper over the cracks)
Rebalance champion purse loots (so they are never a problem again)
Address karma pools and make karma into a viable currency again
Revert parts of the NPE and return all the Personal Story in the correct order.
Take LFG tool out of beta
There is a theme here. Content is put into the game without complete analysis of the effects. Some changes, such as champion purses, are causing continual problems so a complete analysis of changes prior to their implementation would have been time well spent.
Wish they can do something with the trait system… I really don’t like it at all.
I want to be able to glide. Not fly, but glide. Well, not to be able to gain height, but to jump from a vista and glide into the sunset. Push mouse 3 to switch to gliding gear.
Glide gear could have different skins to work for, either through dungeon tokens or various collectables. The really rare ones could have steam trails or rainbow dust particle effects.
All I want is for them to keep doing what they’re doing. the community has no strong consensus on balance, new features, or expansions that they can go by. All we can really do is react strongly to a change we don’t like.
If I had to pick one thing though, release of Tengu as a race would keep me busy for a while.
I want the trait system un-revamped.
Condition cap removed.
Address karma pools and make karma into a viable currency again
Karma is a viable currency already, you obviously just don’t have anything you want to spend it on. Considering I’ve made 15+ ascended weapons, 3 full sets of ascended armor, and working on 6th and 7th legendaries, I’m always running completely out of karma and obi shards.
Besides the feet one, which I didn’t quite understand (Oh, FEETURE, ohoho.. clever), none of these suggestions would be stuff I’d be unhappy with.
I’m guessing you haven’t opened the hero panel lately. The thing is they broke several things in the latest patch which annoys me every time I play (missing sounds and animations are another) and there aren’t any fixes for them yet despite being easily done if they had an interest.
Most stuff we got in the feature patch wasn’t bad, just lackluster polishing to years old content and things other developers would sneak in regular patches without making such a pointless fuzz about it.
do we have a ‘sort’ function in our banks yet?
