So I’ve been playing GW2 since headstart and while I’ve seen 1 or 2 people legit hacking over the years I’ve never seen anything like this.

Whilst in HoTM today, I saw a guy running around with the legendary PvP Backpack. The funny thing is that he didn’t have a division badge next to his name. This made no sense to me so I thought it was a glitch.

I then noticed that he was wielding the full Hellfire armour set. I added him to my friendslist and he only had 800AP.

So now I’m pretty sure that this guy is hacking but I just never saw anything like this. Anyway I took some screenshots so that you get a better idea of what I mean

Maybe but I whispered the person and didn’t get a reply. They’re also in a PvP match right now. I don’t know just seems weird to me.

That does seem pretty fishy. Hopefully it was just a staff member or something and not a hacker. ):

Yea would be pretty lame if skins are getting hacked now. 90% of my fun is getting new skins.

As far as I can tell from comments on the forum, staff accounts come in 2 types, administrative and regular. The administrative accounts have dev abilities and are used to check reports of hacking/botting and to act when they find anything. The regular accounts are the same as ours, are owned by one person and don’t have any special abilities or special access to skins.

Maybe that was an administrative account checking out PvP. It would explain the low AP and the high AP skins, though I would think they wouldn’t be bringing attention to the investigative char by wearing skins above their AP level. You could always report him. If it was a dev account, no foul.

Create a support ticket or send an email to exploits@arena.net with the same info you provided here (plus date, time, and whatever other details you can manage). They’ll sort it out.

Regardless of what any of us conclude here, only ANet can determine if someone ‘hacked’ or something else is going on.

Minor clarification, they’re actually wearing:

  • Skull Masque (necro starter gear)
  • Whisper’s Secret Robes (Order of Whispers)
  • Hellfire Vambraces (12,000 AP)
  • Hellfire Leggings (27,000 AP)
  • Snapdragon Boots (Sylvari T1)
  • Nightfury shoulder skin (Halloween 2015)
  • Shadow Staff (gem store)

Apart from the backpack it’s entirely possible to get that whole outfit legitimately, although not with only 800 AP. I know achievements have been changed a few times which lead to people losing points, but not that many and I’m pretty sure not since the full Hellfire and Radiant sets were introduced.

The backpack is definitely The Ascension however, or at least I couldn’t find anything else that looked like it. (All the lower versions are quite different.)

But like other people have said only Anet can work out if they hacked the game, or how else they might have done it, so the best thing to do is report them and let them figure it out.
