Had a stop and smile moment yesterday
Congratulations, you have won GW2
Yep, that’s what this game is about. Fun. Some people seem to forget it. Welcome to the party!
I’ve always wanted to try one of those fun boxes. Sounds like a ton of fun
Primary: Gizzmologist Saikka – Asura Engineer
Similar thing happened to me on the weekend. Was good fun, totally out of the blue.
I stopped playing after the Karka weekend but Flame & Frost tempted me back. I really like the new Living World format for content. It brought me back to the game but fun like the fireworks and food fights in Lions Arch keeps me playing
If you ever catch me in-game anywhere (any character beginning with “Hawkian”) say, “do something fun!” and I’ll make something happen. Whether it means throwing down a box of fun, my Warlock’s cauldron, or leading folk nearby on a cool event or puzzle- I try to memorize a lot of fun, lesser-known stuff- I’m always up to taking the time to do something cool with people who are into that sort of thing.
Had to stop and smile today.
I’ve only just got to Southsun Cove. “A crab face hugger has attached itself to your face”. For some reason, I found this tickled my humour gland.

I tend to drop off fun boxes, tell everyone, then find a nice high perch and enjoy watching folks play with it. I get such a warm feeling knowing some joy is added to the area.
These comments make me smile <3
So late last night I log in and decide I’ll go visit Shadow Behemoth since I haven’t been there for awhile.
I jump into Queensdale and start gathering and getting some kills on my way over to the swamp and this low level unguilded player runs up next to me and stops. So I stop too but he doesn’t say anything.
I start running again and he runs along me again and stops again. This time I stop and say Hi. He says hi and I ask if he needs help with anything. He smiles and says he’s doing good so far.
I see the Champ Oakheart is up so I party with him and say, “Oakheart -let’s go.” He runs after me and as we top the hill there’s the oakheart with a handful of people, maybe 6 or 7 players battling him. The new player says wow.
I figure if he is wow’d by old Mr Oakheart he really needs to see Mr Shadow B.
So I tell him there’s a big event that happens near but we need to make sure the monastery is clear before it will start. I start running over, swinging by waypoints along the way so he gets them and people start chatting about Brenda being on the move in map chat. I tell him Brenda is tied to the monastery event.
We get there just as Brenda walks up and there’s about 20 players. Waves of centuars roll in, we kill them and then the portal events start. I figure to skip those and just tell him let’s go to the swamp now!
So we’re running through the swamp and just as we round the corner we see a good hundred players and Shadow Behemoth blows out of the ground. New player says WOW.
Made me smile. Can’t wait til he sees the dragons.
i feel there is a rainbow forming inside my tummy atm.
Made me smile. Can’t wait til he sees the dragons.
Reminds me of a recent story as well.
A guy was in Queensdale leveling up, I crossed paths with him and he started to follow me. He asked questions earlier in map chat and I answered so I guess he figured I’m okay to follow.
We party up and complete a few hearts to help him level. I’m maxed out so instead of doing all the damage I’m doing mitigation instead, I love my Guardian, and eventually he brings up that he’s a GW1 vet.
He doesn’t know how to access the Hall of Monuments stuff and gently bragged that he was quite wealthy in that game.
I sorta smirk to myself and get curious about this ‘wealth’. So I take him to Lion’s Arch (his first time) and help him get the Monument Stone.
I couldn’t join his for some reason, but over party chat I guide him to the Historian.
Here was his reply (paraphrasing):
“All this is MINE?! WOW!”
I answer, “yeah its the legacy of your hero from days long ago. Have at it.”
“So is this a one time thing? What can I take?”
“You can come back whenever you want, take whatever you want, you earned it! Enjoy your legacy.”
I catch up to him later on and help him level some more. He has an Orrian chick mini pet. I’m impressed, he really was wealthy. Well at least more than me lol.
Just the fact I could help someone make that connection with their GW1 accomplishments made me glad. I hope he does okay leveling up now.

I try to do this a few times a week, not in town though cause the game is really finicky on space of where you can put so many buffs :P

Awesome thread
I needed cheering up as a few of my friends have been moaning about lack of progression in Guild Wars 2. I do think now after months of playing this game there are lots of players who just don’t get it.
I mean look at jumping puzzles, sure you get a chest but its really about the fun.
Fun? What is this you speak of? Games should be so intense it makes you want to rage quit 24/7!!! Jking!! I love when people do crazy things in ton. In lion’s arch there are always dance lines and I love to just watch them.
Interestingly… it’s not a “crab face hugger” at all. Having said that, I had another one face-hug me again and accidentally did an evasive roll. It was now attached to my back and the game stated that that was actually the case.
A second role crushed it.
I love little touches like this.

Every now and then my guild will put on a raffle for guildies, where we give away dyes, minis, gold and stuff. We have a whole setup in the front area of divinity’s reach with every table, buff, banner we can get our hands on and just get down for hours as it’s going on. It’s not epic pvp/dungeoning and takes all night, but its fun just to dance and chill and costume battle all together. We also get tons of randoms passing by who first give a “WTF?” then join in the craziness for a while. I love seeing fun metagame stuff like this going on.

Nine Divines [ND] – Sorrow’s Furnace
Very nice Mercurio, if I were ever in SF I’d help pitch in.
Now that I’ve been playing for a while I have found a fun way for me to help others and thanks to no fighting over resources and XP it works. I go to places like Queensdale and look for someone that is struggling. I don’t immediately run up shouting I’m here to save the day. Instead I try to not let them know I’m following them. I follow from a distance and hide behind trees and rocks and such. I let them decide what to do without counting on me to be there. Since I use ranged weapons I wait until I see them get into a pretty dicey situation with adds and what not and I fly in range guns blazing and then disappear again. I don’t even loot drops or farm resources.
I figure that I’ll let them play and learn things as they want but not let them get beat up doing it. If they ask for more help I do most of the time. I’ve followed a few that I don’t think they new what was going on. I think they thought I was an NPC that just happened to be around when they got in over their heads.
