I love the new human set of hairstyles & faces. Love, love love.
I’m okay with not having updates with the rest because I know they’ll come.

I also have a suggestion anet – Every hair/face update do 1 race at a time so there is more detail, thought & time that goes into that cosmetic & could potentially offer more options like this new update has, instead of the usual 3 faces = 3 hairstyles.

Yeah, it’s about time they added some “ethnic” looking hair and faces. That’s the one thing I AM pleased about so far with POF.

They look amazing. Great job on that!

They do look great, but they’re ONLY for humans.

Come on Anet, please stop ditching the other races. We know humans are the majority, the aesthetic standard and the basic model for everything… we understand you don’t have any interest in adding more ears, horns or fur patterns… but at least don’t leave us behind in hairstyle options!

My half Elonan half Krytan Mesmer looked good before. Now he looks amaaaazing. I kept the older dreads, they are too established in RP, but the face detailing is so much better for him.

Even though I’m overflowing with humans, looks like my new level 80 boost is going to an Elonan Ranger since I only have one Ranger right now (a Norn) and I like her as a Druid; she’s geared as one, too. Male or female, hmm … the male faces have so much range, but female medium armor is generally niftier. And that female ’fro is beyond glorious, even if I am sure almost every new Elonan female will be rocking it.

Whatever I choose, I am excite!

It only took four years and a MENA themed expansion to get some black hairstyles for humans ¬_¬

That said, these, and the new faces, are fantastic! They’re not half- kitten d either, they actually took the time and effort to make them really high quality.

The only real aspect that I find to be an oddity is that on the brushed out styles the hair is actually two tone, with the second channel being the accessory colour, so I can’t make it as dark as I would like. Assuming they’ll be adding more colours to that swatch, it won’t be a big deal. Otherwise, this is great! And they are free defaults!

I love them too. They did a good job. I will keep giving ANet my money!!!!!!

Coming from a player that has mostly human characters, I have to agree!!! Anet please stop ditching the other races! It’s very frustrating!!!!!

I have a small handful of Asuran females and it’s annoying they get suits for some of their outfits when the human counterpart gets a dress! Stop short-handing the other races! Yours truly a mostly human player!

They’re not in the makeover section with the stars, they’re actually new defaults, so they’re at the end of the list, rather than the front.

Note that Dulfy did not alter slider settings to take the new face shapes into account so her gallery makes them look a bit grotesque. Not her fault, she shouldn’t have to fully remake an alt just to show us, plus it takes a good amount of time to do that. But take that into account when viewing. The male faces in particular have a huge range of appearance and a lot of chiselled faces. One of them looks excellent for an older, weathered vizier type.

I tweaked my Canthan-descent necro into a pretty wild Elonan (did not commit, so it’s from the kit view). And that was without really going whole hog on face structure to suit the ethnicity.

It’s definitely worth putting the sliders back to the middle if you want to preview the new faces. (Remember unless you click to confirm the changes and have a total makeover kit nothing will be saved.)

When I first previewed them they all looked a bit weird, then I remembered I’d put several sliders (most notably eye angle) right to one extreme on my human character to get the look I wanted. I think it looks great with the face I used, but it looks really weird with others. Putting the sliders back to the middle made a huge difference.

I’m in love with the new faces and styles, especially the Tina Turner hair.

Glorious and long overdue hair! The big afro (female #6 on Dulfy’s list) in particular just about knocked me out of my chair, it’s that awesome. My solitary human is Elonian, and although I pretty much never play her I’m still tempted to burn a hairstyle kit on her, now.

The faces … eh. I’ll never not be squicked out by how infantile many female faces are, especially in combination with all the lingerie “armors”.

Now can the other races get an equal amount of new features too, please? :p

So if you want to make an authentic Elonian character, you can.

Of course i already had my girl and a hair-makeover kit. So that was easily done. My girl now looks exactly like she came from Elona.

Facts!

In effect, these aren’t “new” player character styles so much as ANet deciding to release styles they designed for NPCs in the new zones. In the past, the community has asked for us to have access to such styles, on the theory that, “hey, the assets are in the game, why not allow players to make use of them?”

This is the first time (to my knowledge) that ANet has done specifically that.

Obviously, I’d like it better if their design team also created some new assets for the other three races and the master race. Still, this is better than what they’ve done in the past which is not to make them available just because it was biased towards one race.

I too want to chime in an fangirl about the new styles and faces! They’re all fantastic and beautiful. My only gripe, and it’s a tiny one, is all the new faces are rather light on the makeup.

I would have loved to have one that had cobalt blue lipgloss and eye shadow, or black makeup (necro!) or something besides the standard black mascara/eyeshadow and red lips.

They have done a fantastic job with those hairstyles and faces, and that’s coming from a player who does not and will never play a human.

If charr manage to get a single new face that I can tolerate, I’ll be over the moon.

Yes I wanted to take the time to show my appreciation to Anet too. I am impressed with the afro texture, it actually looks real! it’s not an ugly blob like in sims 4 lol. Also I guess I’m one of the few people that find most of the faces are nice and attractive, it looks really good on medium to dark skinned humans. I really love the majority of the faces and hairs, thanks Anet for adding some more variety and diversity!<3 I’d also be happy if they added even more ethnic faces from different parts of the world, I’m always up for more variety in games.
Here’s my new thief using both of the new faces and hairs, I think she is beautiful, nice full lips and a soft/wider African nose. I find curly hair and Afros are attractive too:

Huge +1 to this. As a person of color, I normally like to model my characters after myself or family members and it’s always been laughably difficult to find a human race that matches those features in any game with custom character creation. These models are kitten near perfect ethnic features and I can tell that the artists put a lot of effort into every detail.

The models are awesome, and we alsohave to be grateful for the new FACIAL HAIR.
That is just incredible.
Still, Anet needs to make the same for the other races too.

I DO hope they will release hairs for the other races that are just as awesome.
If it takes them a bit longer to do it and if it is individual releases as the OP suggested- then that is fine with me so long as the quality is as good for the time it took.

Your “Vivienne” looks absolutely splendid, too. Which face is that? I’d be tempted to borrow that look for my lone human.

So apparently this is what I’m doing with the new hair styles.

It wasn’t what I was planning, I was just making a random revenant, then my husband said the hair looked like Missandei’s, then I realised the name was free…then realised by checking it via the character creator I’d inadvertently taken it for at least 24 hours. So then I had to delete the character and re-make her properly.

After some debate we went with mesmer as a profession, because she’s not a fighter but she is extremely good at manipulating people.

Thank you, it cannot be said enough!

— That these Elonian faces/hair aren’t locked behind a paywall but available in the character creator was the right decision

— We got unique, real faces based on people of color. (They look amazing in game. The old faces seem lackluster in comparison.)

— You didn’t just give us one face with slightly different makeup or age lines. I appreciate the variety.

— More beards. People have been requesting that for so long.

— A realistic looking afro! (I enjoy the subtle way the second hair color modifies it – kudos to those who designed it)

— Some interesting and unusual human hair that will fit with Elona. Human hair sometimes seems a little tame. I’m all for these new looks.

…I hope we get something similar in the future if Cantha opens up. I’d like to see some Kurzick hairstyles too. This gives me hope <3

I love the new faces and hairstyles, especially the way the accessory colour changes the hue of the hair.
However, I wish we could have more female old faces, scarred faces, and faces without makeup. Why does every single woman wear eyeliner?

They look amazing, I agree that If charr ever got the kind of detail these have in new faces/hairs and horns Id be so happy. I cant play humans/elves or dwarves in fantasy games, so I main a charr and its sad that I cant look well… Fearsome I guess?

I’d like to add my thanks to Anet for these additions too. I worked so hard to get the original faces to try and look decent with dark skin but the weird lip colour always bothered me. Now my necromancer and guardian look much better.

Most of the new hairstyles are just plain ugly and gimmicky. Instead of adding exclusively Elona-styled hairs and faces they could have added a mix of everything.

Well we already had a wide selection of styles for straight hair, and very little for curly hair (none for human females) and not many options for braids (again none for human females). Now we’ve got a good mix of different styles. I think the only hair type we’re missing is curly hair that hangs down – like Merida from Brave.

(There’s also the fact that they obviously made these for the Elonian NPCs and gave them to players because…well, they’ve made them already so why not?)

But I’m sure this isn’t the end of Anet adding new hair styles and more will come in future, for all hair types.
