Half-Baked Komali
Bump.
I too would like a second look. Because we got finally stopped the attacks, got the might off, got the stability off and then we tried to knock off his defiant. Which didn’t work, so then he gained 8 defiant and regained his stabilty/might.
You can’t strip 8 defiant in the 6 minutes you are trying to kill him. Especially since each time you knock off a level of defiant he regains his stability/might.
Best way to kill him right now is stacking life Steal food and just dps, the desing for this boss is rly bad and when u have more than 15 guys hitting him is stupid how many defiant he stack.
What’s funny is that we killed him easy once before, a month or two ago and now we just got murdered. You guys want to give all these special strats to these mobs, then increase both timers.
Whenever we get him we just give up and hope for a better choice next time. There’s no point in even trying. Once you get random people jumping in its impossible to do. Even if you can finally coordinate everyone around, there’s just not enough time to blow through all his buffs AND high hp. He needs some looking at indeed. While I appreciate unique mechanics, this one doesn’t really qualify as unique, more like downright frustrating and at times impossible.

It only takes one decent Necromancer or Engineer to destroy all of his boons.
Our guild just ignores him now if we get him, we just either get the credit on others and fail or we just wait 15min and try again hoping we don’t get stupid bosses like this or Sotzz..
We do these for fun and a chance of completion, not permanent fails, i suggest you guys ignore him too.
We actually had Sotz and Komali on a Tier 1. Got Sotz easy, but couldn’t even budge the frog.
He needs to not have Unshakable. Then you might actually be able to fight him the way it’s intended.

I was reading dulfy while I was trying to beat it. And he got 8 stacks of defiant. I followed that strategy and it wasn’t working. It may have worked for someone else, but we got the 8 stacks and ran out of time instead.

which works in an ideal environment where it’s only your team doing it, but throw in random others into the mix and it becomes nearly impossible.

I’m well aware of dulfy. Not as easy as it sounds, especially if you have a timer on you and especially if there’s only one class that can strip boons. Factor in human error and outside people, this mob gets stupid real fast.

Necromancer can strip boons so can guardian though they have a very hard time at it (once every 20 sec meh) Engineer can too. There also the sig that removes boons on crit.

We had Komali again as target yesterday.
We know the guide at dulfy.
It says:
“Once his stability is removed, you can use knockbacks to push him out of his circle, which cause him to lose the fire shield.”
The problem here is since one patch there isnt anymore a circle where he can be pushed out!
So taking the boons and using cc does nothing.
We encountered him with three necros (i was one of them) and used corrupted boon while there was no one atacking. Guardian used his hammer, Komali was pushed back several meters AND his shield was still on him.
After that we focused on taking him down with conditions while the rest did there best to Keep us alive.
But there must be something wrong with him, honestly…
So I did some research and this is what I’ve found, though we haven’t been able to test it.
When Komali has his fire shield up there have been two accounts. One is that if you attack him with any sort of damage, it refreshes all of his boons making it impossible to strip of stability. The second account that this only happens when he takes condition damage.
From what I understand is that when his fire shield comes up, everyone has to stop attacking and/or doing condition damage. Once this happens you must have someone strip his boons to get rid of stability, you then use a knockback to knock him out of the circle he is in that gives him fire-shield.
This is where it loses me. What circle? He doesn’t stand in a circle of any kind.
We had half baked Komali last time with my guild. I can confirm there was no circle at all. We had two mesmers (myself included) stripping its boons with null fields and trying to knockback him (with gs #5) outside of an invisible circle. The fire shield was still up, it just didn’t work. Needless to say we couldn’t complete the bounty, even though we had found the target really fast and knew the strat. This target definitly needs to be looked at or removed from the possible targets until you fix the circle or its mechanics.
Exact problem we had Sabyne. Nothing was coming off. Then we had some outside constantly attacking him too. Here’s a great idea. Putting mobs that require specific mechanics or you completely fail in the open world, with other guilds attempting to do them too.
