Haling power useless
There is no haling power? Unless you’re talking about the chat or emotions in game?
Also, no thanks.

Why make a healer when there is no healer role? And HP isn’t useless, there are builds that rely on it.

As Lily said, there are builds for characters that rely on it.
The system now has more pluses then minuses overall.
WvW groups rely on the Water fields generated by the Ele on a near constant basis, so I’m not sure what your actual complaint is.

He honestly thought he could play a character with maxed Heal Power and stand in the back of a group healing.
Healing power is not useless in PvP, that’s for darn sure. And quite honestly, in PvE, healing power can make a somewhat difficult encounter into a wtfez encounter with a properly geared elementalist (Nomad set for example).
If you were expecting to be able to gear up a character so that your teammates will never have to heal themselves, then I’m afraid you were expecting too much. There is no trinity in this game.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Nomad ele..
lol. What a waste of a party slot.
Healing power is not useless. I have found healing power to be reliable if properly balanced versus other stats in certain situations or in certain teams.
I certainly don’t agree nerfing the individual heals would be a solution to anything. It would go completely against the way the game is set up and would be grossly unfair to a large portion of the playerbase. Healing power is supplementary as a support option, it shouldn’t be relied upon – ie if you lack a healing traited ele or guardian, then you adjust your team build accordingly.
this video by Gpotato talks about why healing power is uselessin gw2 and is unrewarding
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRnw05Boi8I
Wpotato or even better WoodenPotatoes, Gpotato is the name of a quite bad MMO publisher
Anyway, yeah healing power in GW2 is really really bad, the scale, the usefulness, every aspect is just bad.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

You clearly have not run with one lol. Makes our FoTM50 seem like a FoTM5…
But then again I don’t subscribe to any meta. I don’t mind the pace being slower if it is easier. Some people like playing the harder content like FoTM50 casually, maybe while drinking a beer and watching TV. Maybe missing some dodges here and there y because that one Victoria’s Secret commercial came on. That’s where a Nomad ele comes in….
Don’t knock it til you try it. Unless you are a min/maxer and aren’t satisfied with anything that isn’t the absolute fastest run possible with no down-time and no tolerance for people having “fun” during the srsbznz that is GW2.
I mean…3k aoe heals from their auto-attack…yea…I’ll take some of that on my fractals runs… Good players are good players regardless of build. Sure your completion time will vary depending on stats build, but the difficulty/focus needed will vary as well. I like my casual pace just fine. I also respect the zerker meta that likes to complete content quickly. Different strokes, people, different strokes…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

As the post above highlights, healing power is useful for afking content and bypass mechanics. If anything, it should be nerfed in pve because it allows substantial regen and disable the need for dodging.

As much as I would love healing power to actually mean something, I can’t help but notice how much more fun the game is after I changed my elementalist build from healer to a proper dps.
It’s really unrewarding compared to other playstyles, but if it works for you – I can’t complain.

As the post above highlights, healing power is useful for afking content and bypass mechanics. If anything, it should be nerfed in pve because it allows substantial regen and disable the need for dodging.
I’m sorry, did you consider missing a dodge here and there as AFKing content? I’d love to see a team AFK FoTM50 just because a Nomad Elementalist is in the group…
It doesn’t eliminate the need for dodging, but it certainly eliminates the need for dodging perfectly. And isn’t that the point of support skills? I mean I guess Guards shouldn’t use reflect wall because it eliminates the need for dodging projectiles…and I guess nobody should use any Stability skills as that also eliminates the need for dodging certain knock-back attacks. In fact, I guess nobody should use any skills beyond 1-5….
Keep your hyperbole at home where it belongs…..

Need? You don’t need any class in this game. You can run 5 of any class and complete the hardest content in this game.
I’m glad you like your faster runs. I’ve run the meta. I’ve run it for a long time. Zerk warrior, guard, ele. I’ve done it all for a very long time and have evolved beyond the meta. I mean, once you have everything in this game that you could possibly want, sticking to the meta for the 1000th fotm run is, I dunno, kinda boring and definitely lame, no offense…
When you get to this level you will understand. In the meantime enjoy your speed clears. If that gives you joy then I am happy for you. It gave me lots of joy while I was collecting 1000s of gold for the items I wanted. Now I want to play for, you know, fun. It’s more fun to put our team at a statistical disadvantage.
Dodging and proper placement is not difficult to learn, so while I get that most people find the zerk meta to be the be all, end all of metas, that requires oh so much skill because you have do gasp dodge properly and reflect properly. Once you’ve done it forever and know every fight and have no problems dodging/using skills, it really is the easiest build in the game. Everything dies so quickly. Some day you will understand. I was like you. Once.

You’re angry at me for no reason, as I’m one of the few not caring about what you or your friends run. This was a sarcastic post, because I’m tired of the same thread everyday where I’ll end up getting jumped on by people like you if i dare saying a nomad ele doesn’t have to dodge at all because he’s carried by passive defense. But to argue your point: wall of reflect isn’t a dps loss. Nomad ele has negative dps, and they can’t even support with partywide fury, good mightstacking, projectile defense or blinds. The point is, if you want a relaxed 50 run, take 2 guardians. That’s not meta, that’s “casual”, but you won’t get below 100% health once except for the agony ticks.
tl;dr: I don’t give a duck about your party comp, and I totally support players getting the teams they are more comfortable with. Healing power is easier to play than berserker, I’m fine with that, but a buff isn’t necessary.

The nomad eles, what weapon sets do they use? Mostly staff?
Imo the problem here is not necessary in HP itself, but maybe in the way gear distributed across different areas of the game. HP not useless at all in WvW (org. raids) and PvP. However in PvE it’s a joke as many other stats and stat combos. Imo only viable stat combos should be obtainable through a certain areas of the game. I.e. in PvE you should be able to get only Bers, Assassins etc. stats, it makes no sense when a person gets to M. Leap, finishes Temple of M. event and at karma vendor he’s able to get what? Some useless crap like Magi’s gear or something like that. Potato probably wouldn’t even make this video if that was the case, because he wouldn’t be doing some silly researches like that, out of boredom, that would be a feature of GW2, intended design, while now, instead, it’s just yet another design flaw.
Well…I might have no idea what a “haling power” is…but it sounds bad…
To the healing skills:
If you are running like Arah with a nice teamcomb (like Tank, DD, Condi/ CC, and a healer) you and your mates will appreciate the healing power!
“4. have a healing build wont speed up the healing of a downed player.”
Yes it does…at least with the warrior (it’s in the traits) or do you mean that the attribute healing power shoud have impact on how fast you pick up ppl from the floor? If so…interesting…
“5. the Healer don’t receive any Experience from healing.”
Well…don’t heal and wipe, or heal and kill the target…the DD guy ain’t getting exp for hiting the mob too…
I am not hating here, just to be clear…
I’ m just saying the healing system is alright the way it is!

If healing power had an effect on outgoing healing it might be run more often. HOWEVER then you are running a healer build and then you are heading into the holy trinity territory.
That said, if the game does encourage healing that is party based then anet can really open up long fights where damage taken is constant and battles are time consuming.
~Desolation~
If healing power had an effect on outgoing healing it might be run more often.
But it does. Compared to how HP scales with dedicated healing skill, it scales well with regular skills, like empower, ele water skills etc., traited mesmer mantras probably as well, blasts on water fields etc.
Actually even in high level FotM people sometimes like to have one celestial guardian, or ele, or engi. Used to be that way, at least.

Does it?
“Healing Power, also known as Compassion, is a secondary attribute that improves all healing performed by the character, including healing from the regeneration boon and rejuvenation. Healing power does not affect the revival process.”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Healing_Power
“…For instance, each point of Healing Power adds 0.125 healing for Regeneration, 0.06 healing for Rejuvenation.”
Is it really worth it? =( I would say invest in other attribute, you can still heal well enough without it.
@Yoroiookami.3485 Test it in the mists.
Just quick example. Cleansing Wave (#5 on dagger and on dodge if you have Evasive Arcana) does 1402 healing with bers amu, and 1841 with cele amu. It’s partially the reason why cele ele is so strong in PvP right now etc.
As to, is it worth it. As i said above, it depends. In WvW and PvP, depending on your spec and role, it is worth it. In PvE no, usually. Except that one case in high level FotM, i can’t think of anything else.

“Offense”
Can’t play the meta? Playing the meta is not difficult. Especially if you have a regular team you play with. You fly through content without speaking a word to each other. Everything flows so smoothly and dies so quickly.
I never said it didn’t take skill to play the meta. I’m saying that playing the meta, while requiring a bit of skill up front, once learned, makes the majority of the content in the game laughable. Not only that, playing the meta requires a specific type of game-play. One that focuses on proper skill and dodge use, and quite honestly requires paying more attention than I feel like at this point in my GW2 timeline. In the end, however, FoTM is FoTM.
After hundreds of FoTM runs using the same boring zerk meta; it becomes stale. I mean, what am I working towards? The fractal skins I want? Done. Money? Done. Ascended armor? Done. Fractal backpiece? Done.
I’m at the point where the only reason I run FoTM is to assist guildies. So why continue to use the same boring zerker meta? For speed clears? Why? What possible reason do I have to need a speed clear? I would much rather relax and play the hardest content leisurely after playing it hardcore for so long.
Like I said. You will eventually get to this point when you’ve played more, if you haven’t already. Trust me.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
What I got from the video. “I have this build that relies on an item, that can heal, every 15 seconds or so, for more health (21K) than most characters (other than vitality spec Warrior/Necro or heavily vitality spec Engi/Mes/Ranger) have. However, I’m not happy because people don’t notice.”
Now how could this be fixed :-
1. nerf the healing skill to every class so there will be a need for a healer in combat.
2. change the downed system so that the player wont rely if the mob is killed, but buff the healing skill in the downed stage so after the mob dies the player can heal up faster.
3. getting red of the fast regeneration after the player get out of combat, or replace it with slower regeneration.
4. Add new achievement, comes with the title “Guardian Angel” and a spacial back piece. and it takes 2-3 millions of healed points to be achieved. (I know too much, but the player should not get it in 2 weeks)
5. nerfing the items that can drop a water field (healing field) that grants regenration.
I know many of you will disagree, but this is the only way to make a healer have something to work for and to make it rewarding.
- The game was specifically designed so that there were not to be dedicated roles, including a healer. The #6 skill and the downed state are an integral part of what makes that fundamental design mechanic work. Not well thought out.
- So, if a player is downed when solo, where rallying is the only means (other than ranger downed 3) to get back up, he’s SoL? Not well thought out.
- Translation: let’s go back to older games where the game forces you to sit and eat food to get back to full health after a fight. Suggestion is a massive step in the wrong direction.
- If the achieve had been in at launch as summarized, I’m sure I’d have it by now, especially if reviving heals counted. I’ve nothing against the idea of new achievements as long as they are not ludicrous, which I don’t believe is the case here.
- Not sure about items that proc fields in the first place, but afaik this is the first I’ve seen anyone complain about them.
I’ve got nothing against the idea of someone wanting to spec into healing or to pursue something they enjoy. However, I’m not in favor of changing one of the fundamental principles of the game (no required designated healer) — wrecking gameplay for the players who enjoy the current system — in order to make it easier.
Only change should be that when people are running some healingpower, skillls and treats actually using it should benefit from it, in a rewarding manner.
Nice to have a healing power of 1800 (or even 2000, which is not to difficult to aquire on several if not all classes) but if you skill scales with 5 or 10% it leaves your investment useless….
Regarding waterfields, in group situations it’s difficult to use them effectively as they tend top be overwritten with other fields very fast…. You get dmg several times a second, healing can be 1 time in 12-40 seconds depending on your healing skill… removing waters would leave a lot of ppl without additional healing.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
It’d be cool if healing people who dps monsters contributed to your tagging. After the monsters are reworked to actually pose any kind of threat to a zerg.

If you have never seen a warrior facetanks Lupi from 100 to 0 in Nomad, you haven’t seen it all. OP’s problem seems to be “why Healing Power cannot compete with Others for efficient Killing/Tagging/Getting any kind of PvE credit”. My answer is it’s not designed to do so.
Healing Power has its use in:
- Bunker builds in the conquest mode (PvP)
- Regeneration buff in Team Fight (mostly came from celestial dd ele or engi)
- Indestructible frontline in organized GvG (WvW)
- Trolling mobs by facetanking them in instanced content
to name a few…
