Hi everyone,
I was thinking about purchasing Guild Wars 1 Trio for the Hall of Monuments achivements and goodies. To be honest I’m not really interested in playing the game a lot in this point in time because I’m so into GW2 right now (especially since HoT is not even days away).
I was wondering if anyone else has bought the game purely for the hall of monument goodies and how long it took you to get them?

Thanks

Depends how many points you want. There are a few quick wins and wiki has a very useful guide for the early few, but realistically it is a time consumer as you progress. A few months dedication for the higher level points.

It really depends on which statues you go for and whether you have help. You can probably get all 50 HoM points in under 1,000 hours.

50 might be a trifle unrealistic but 30 should be doable, which will unlock all skins and ranger pets. However 30 is still hours of playtime on a game where you’re just starting out, know nothing and have nothing.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re not that interested in the old game, only the achievements, you’re probably better off just playing GW2, especially with HoT coming out on Friday.

I like GW1, but the HoM rewards aren’t a small thing to get, if only for the time required. There are guides on the most efficient way to do it, but you’re going to have to learn a (more or less) completely different game and commit a large amount of time to it just the same.

If you have guild mates who also play GW1, or can find a guild that also does GW1 runs for HoM points (I assume some might do that?) that might make it easier. Otherwise, you’re going to have to get people to help you. Heroes and henchmen help solo, but henchmen are dumb as rocks, and full-heroes are overwhelmingly complicated, if you’re unfamiliar with GW1.

It just doesn’t sound like a fun time, if you only care about GW2.

I was one of the lucky ones who’s been in GW’s since 2005. When it was announced in 2007 that there was gonna be a second game many of us were ecstatic. We earned all our HOM points the usual way, thru game play etc (no regrets). Since the release of GW2 a majority of GW1 players can and have bought their HOM points and you can prolly do the same.
Though tbh the regular way of getting those points (thru gameplay) is quite good as well. Buy the game take the easy lazy way out and buy your HOM points like most people did. You can buy runs, food, booze etc and get those points. GAME ON

Noble Dragons (NOBL) rocking GW’s since 2005 now rocking the Sorrow’s Furnace Server!
