So i am playing Guild Wars 1 and i remembered the Hall of Monuments points rewards thing, so i hop on the calculator and see i have 3 (for linking my account) which gives me 3 pieces of gears. So i hop on GW2 to claim these and…. the NPC that is supposed to “sell” them tells me that the place is about some old hero…. that’s it… i know i used to be able to access a sort of shop window where i could see them but not acquire them. So i looked around the net and it just say you talk to him and the window i remember is supposed to open and you grab your stuff. Am i missing something? Also i only have the original GW1 no expansions so was there a change where now i need Eye of the north or something?

P.S. It would be great if you guys could do a GW1 Expansions package for people like me right now it would cost me 90$ to get all 3 and i am afraid the game might close soon after i buy them >.< .

P.S.S. I know there was a post about the hall somewhere but the search bar for the forum doesn’t let me find it and i got tired of looking for it.

You do need to have Eye of the North, as that is the linking area for your achievements. If you don’t have EotN, even after linking accounts nothing will show. FYI, you can get the whole thing off Steam relatively inexpensively.

It’s always required Eye of the North to access the Hall of Monuments rewards.

The calculator will show you have 3 points no matter what. Even if I check it using my alt account which only has Prophecies and is not liked to a GW2 account it shows I have 3 points for linking accounts. I’m not sure why, I assume it was just easier to program it that way.

But to actually redeem those points you need to own Eye of the North and to have visited the physical location of the same name in GW1 to unlock the Hall.

As was already said above, you’ve always needed EOTN to access the HoM rewards. As for the cost, I’m not sure why it’d be $90. Guild Wars Platinum Edition (which is Prophecies + EOTN) is $20 on Amazon right now, and just EOTN is $20 via Steam. The Trilogy (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall) is $30 via Steam.

As for the game “closing”, it’s not likely. It still attracts a decent amount of players, too. Honestly, I think it’s worth checking out, especially when you can get three campaigns and the expansion for just $50.

The cost of buying all the campaigns can run more than US$90 if you buy each one individually and at retail. However, as others have said, you can acquire them for half that with a little patience and for much less if you wait for just the right deals.

I agree with Rose: ANet has said they will keep the servers running as long as there are still people playing. Near as I can tell by looking at legit buy/sell offers (and the prices) in Kamadan, the numbers of active players remains within 10-20% of what it’s been since GW2 launched. It’s not going away anytime soon.
